KitchenAid 7-Quart Stainless Steel Slow Cooker, Model KSC700SS

The most powerful premium slow cooker on the market also delivers a host of innovative features that help you achieve mouthwatering results every time. Its 400-watt heating element quickly heats food to USDA-recommended temperatures, while the advanced temperature management system ensures that food stays moist and tender. Five programmable settings allow for flexible cooking and serving. Plus, the slow cooker's 7-quart ceramic pot has a unique rounded rectangular design that offers more space for cooking roasts and poultry, and makes pouring soups, stews and stock an easy task.

Features:

  • Our exclusive Food-Temperature Alert electronic temperature sensor monitors the cooking process and alerts you if the temperature drops below the USDA-recommended range.
  • Thanks to its reserve power, the slow cooker can quickly regain optimum cooking temperatures if the lid is removed during cooking or if there's a power outage.
  • The programmable digital timer and eye-catching LCD display make it easy to set cook times - from 10 minutes up to nine hours, 59 minutes.
  • Designed to minimize spills, the pot rim is flared to catch drips while the liner fits snugly to prevent food from getting trapped.
  • The large handles and rugged reinforced housing make it easy to lift without spilling.
  • Incremental marking on the ceramic pot's interior reduces the guesswork when you add ingredients or plan storage for leftovers.
  • The glass lid lets you view food while it's cooking, while its form-fitting soft silicone seal locks in moisture to keep food tender. The lid and seal are dishwasher safe.

The Best Slow Cooker available

I cooked my Thanksgiving Turkey breast in the slow cooker. The cooker was just the right size and the Turkey turned out very moist and good! I used the low setting. The following Sunday, I cooked a roast with celery, carrots, onions and potatoes. From the drippings I made gravy which turned out fantastic. The size is good if you try to cook family size meals! Love the timer and the keep warm/buffet setting. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to cook but doesn't have time to stand at the stove.
Pros: Easy to Operate
Best Uses: Meats, Veggies
Cons: Nothing

I highly recommend this product for anyone in the market for a slow cooker. It's wonderful! It's more expensive but worth it as it does a great job (no burnt food stuck to the bottom). I was wary about cooking something for 10hrs without adding water or checking on it, but the pot roast was perfect!!! I enjoy "cooking" now and coming home from work to a nice hot meal!

Great cooker but wish it were smaller
Reviewed by Jake who cooks (Avid Cook) from Middle of the USA on May 04, 2008

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
This is the best slow cooker ever. The build quality is fantastic and typical of 'KitchenAide'. The measuring index inside the crock is a great idea and this unit offers very precise cooking temperatures which beats the competition hands down. I also like the rubber gasket that seals the lid when it is positioned onto the crock. This really seals in the flavor and juices. Although it cleans up nicely, the sheer size and weight of the crock makes it cumbersome to wash. I really have to pay attention as I am washing it so as not to let it slip from my soapy hands. If you're not particularly strong in the wrist and arms, then this is probably not the slow cooker for you. This is great for large families or large meals, but I wish they also made a smaller model, maybe a 5.5 quart size. Either way, a top-of-the-line product and I'm glad I bought one, even though I think it is overpriced. I could buy 3 new units of a competitors model for the price I paid for this one. I mean, come on, it's just a slow cooker. How much could it cost to manufacture? I've had cheap slow cookers that lasted me 8 - 10 years. I expect to get at least 20 years out of this one, if I don't get rid of it sooner because of it's size.
Pros: High quality, Intuitive controls, Good construction
Best Uses: Large Kitchens
Cons: Too expensive, Hard to Clean, Almost too large
