Amana PuriClean II Refrigerator Water Filter, Model UKF8001

This Refrigerator Water Filter is used in Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Amana®,
Whirlpool®, and KitchenAid® bottom-mount refrigerators with filter access
inside the refrigerator. Simply turn the Refrigerator Water Filter to remove
and replace. While retaining beneficial fluoride, this NSF® Certified Refrigerator
Water Filter reduces cysts, chlorine taste and odor, particulates (class I),
lead, and mercury. The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by
this water filter are not necessarily in all users' water. Replacing this Refrigerator
Water Filter every 12 months ensures clean, safe drinking water. Replaces UKF8001AXX,

The filtering takes all the chemical taste out. I don't care for bottled water - this tastes much better and in the long term is cheaper and more environmentally safe.

Don't forget to flush plenty of water through the filter after installation. The first several glass-fulls were cloudy, but one-by-one they became more clear. Now, my water tastes great.

I am on a well. I use this in my refrigerator because even though the water tastes fine without replacing it every year, the ice gets this weird taste. I could tell immediately after installing a new filter that my ice tasted better. Sometimes I noticed little white flaky things in the bottom of a glass after the ice had melted and now I dont have that problem with the new filter.

Installation was difficult because removal of old filter was tricky. Be sure you are able to remove your old filter before unpackaging the new one. But, managed to figure it out - works like a charm. Remember the draining process during installation of new filter.
