Great clock. It sets time on its own. Nap feature is why I bought it. The only thing is that for the nap, it has 10, 20,30 but then goes to 60,90and then 120. More choices would have been better.

Great clock - could use a CD player
By Shelly88 from CT on 01/5/2009.
Best Uses: Anywhere, Home
Cons: Needs a CD player, Loud alarm dial CLICK
Primary use: Personal
Describe Yourself: Power User
Pros: Reliable, Easy To Set, Good Volume
This is a great, reliable, easy to use alarm clock. I bought it to replaceone that would randomly go into sleep mode instead of alarm. This is so easy to set and tell if the alarm is on. On the other hand, it could really use a CD player as the "melody" you can wake to is just annoying and waking to the radio is a gamble. Also, when you turn the dial to change the alarm time there is a loud click. One of the reasons I replaced my previous alarm was the loud button click to set the time as my husband can reset it several times a night. The clicking still wakes me up...

By BusyBee from East Coast on 11/28/2008.
Best Uses: Anywhere
Describe Yourself: Casual User
Pros: Easy To Set, Good Volume, Neat Features, Reliable
Primary use: Personal
Just love the fact that all we have to do is glance at the clock to see if the orange light is on beneath the time (green) light to know whether or not the alarm is on. It's that easy!! And not only that, the orange light also tells you the time you set it for. How sweet is that?!?!?! You can actually set 4 different alarm times if need be. We use just the two and it's wonderful not to worry that we are going to miss the alarm as we did so often with our old clunker. Once you set it--also easy--you can rely on it to wake you when you need to be. Ain't that what an alarm clock is all about ... finally! The small size is great too. It takes up very little space on your bed table. We just love our Sony Dream Machine and you should not hesitate to get your own! Happy Holidays!

This wakes me up and is reliable. It does not take up space on my nightable. I like the fact it is white since I have a white bedroom. East to use and easy to read. I can't think of much more I would want in a bedside radio.
Almost the perfect Alarm Clock Radio
By Mario from Terre Haute, IN on 07/24/2008.
Best Uses: Home
Primary use: Personal
Describe Yourself: Professional
Pros: Reliable, Neat Features, Easy To Set, Good Volume
Cons: Too bright, No Atomic Time
This is as close as it get's for me to the perfect alarm clock. I absolutely love the feature for the two alarm times and the additional weekend feature that allows to set two additional alarm times. The integrated rechargeable backup battery is a great plus here in the Midwest with frequent power outages during storm seasons. The radio reception and sound quality seems much improved over the older Sony cube alarm clock it replaced. The display is quite a bit too bright even at the lower of the two settings. Also I would really like to see atomic time added to this almost perfect alarm clock, that would really round up the feature set, even if it would raise the price a little.

Good, simple clock radio with some perks
By Cinder Geezer from Overland Park, KS on 03/15/2008.
Best Uses: Anywhere
Pros: Neat Features, Easy To Set, Reliable, Good Volume
Primary use: Personal
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
Just wanted a basic clock radio with dual alarm settings, one for workdays, the other for days off. This had it, with a big display which shows which alarm time is set. Don't need hi-fidelity sound to wake up-that's what my 5 channel home theatre is for. The radio wakes me up, and the snooze feature is simple to press once, or multiple times for longer periods. Large clock display with adjustable brightness backlight that's easy to see without glasses, even for a very near-sighted guy like me. Power line drop out or glitch, no problem. There is a battery backup. Daylight savings time feature makes that bi-annual chore a mere push of one button. Look at the footprint dimensions, it's nice and small. After using this one for a few weeks and liking it, I bought a second one. You want big stereo sound, or a cd player, or an MP3 input, spend more bucks. You want a simple, practical easy to read and easy to set clock radio, buy this one!

Pros: Reliable, Easy to see, Easy To Set
This is pretty much perfect for our use. This clock is good sized for a nightstand, it's versatile with 2 alarms. The orange highlighted alarm time makes it easy to tell if the alarm is set and it's easy to turn the clock off without hitting the snooze. Not great sound, but that's not what it was purchased for.
Great clock radio
By zonlaw from Miami Beach, FL on 10/15/2007.
Cons: Cannot fully dim
Primary use: Personal
Pros: Reliable, Neat Features, Easy To Set, Good Volume
If you live in an area where the power goes out all the time or is interrupted this is the clock for you. This clock has a lithium battery back-up which rarely needs replacing unlike others which require 9 volt,AA,etc. Who cares about the sound quality this is the clock that you use to wake up to. The alarms (dual) are displayed right on the face. The only disadvantage is that the clock does not fully dim and does add quite a bit of light to the room if that bothers you.

I purchased one for myself and it was so easy to understand I got two more for my children. The alarm is not that loud , but if you set the alarm to wake you up with the radio it can be as loud as you like. It has a nice nap feature too.

By DaveT from Hilton, NY on 09/28/2007.
Best Uses: Anywhere
Pros: Neat Features, Easy To Set
Primary use: Personal
Cons: Sound quality isn't great
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
I have looked for a while for a new clock radio. Most were either very user-UNfriendly or expensive. This is almost perfect for me. Alarms are easy to set, and there are 4 independent ones [2 under the regular setting, 2 under Weekend], all selectable to Radio, Melody or Buzzer. We keep it in a bookcase headboard, so the buttons are not easy to see, but the frequently used ones are easy to find. The Weekend feature does not happen automatically; you manually select the Weekend Mode. And the DST is also manually activated, but that is fine with me given Congress' tendency to keep changing the changeover dates! I only wish it had a feature that I don't see any more in clock radios: turn on with radio, go to buzzer after 9 minutes or so. And the sound quality is just poor, but I can live with that given all the other favorable features.

Cons: Alarm volume is low
Best Uses: Anywhere
Pros: Easy To Set, Reliable, Neat Features

Great product, with an obvious way to tell if the alarm is set: an orange LCD. The alarm is rather good, with radio & melody, but the beep alarm setting is rather low, and would probably only rouse the lightest sleepers.[...]
Exactly what I was looking for!
By Padawan Mom from New Port RIchey, FL on 08/30/2007.
Describe Yourself: Average User
Pros: Easy To Set, Reliable, Neat Features
Best Uses: Home
Primary use: Personal
Cons: Soft Buzzer Volume, Difficult to see
My favorite features are the fact that there are separate on/off controls for each alarm, and that the alarm times are always visible. I get nervous about possibly forgetting to set an alarm, or that it could be set incorrectly, and this clock sets my mind instantly at ease! The cons are minor, but they are there... First, when you set the alarm to buzzer, it emits a rather soft beeping sound, which a sound sleeper could probably sleep through. In it's defense, the beep does become gradually more frequent, but my husband definitely would have slept through it if it weren't for me (MY alarm is always set to the RADIO, which has adjustable volume). I recommend the RADIO setting for those who sleep deeply. The other "minor" con only applies to those who have a similar environmental arrangment... Let me start by saying that the time (and alarms) are clearly visible when viewed straight on. HOwever, my alarm clock is set on a shelf above my bed, and I have to get on my knees and view it squarely in order to see the numbers at all. They are not at all visible from an angle below the clock. Best bet here, put it on a nightstand! :o)
Great clock! mediocre beep alarm
By Good[*] from Dallas, TX on 08/21/2007.
Best Uses: Anywhere
Describe Yourself: Gearhead, Tech Savvy, Professional
Primary use: Personal
Pros: Reliable, Easy To Set, Neat Features
This alarm is awesome. Quick to set, easily able to tell if alarm is turned on, big easy to read buttons. Plugged it in when I got it, and the time was already set! Dual alarms! No more having to half-wake my spouse to find out what time to set her alarm! My only complaint is that the beep beep alarm is far too quiet and subtle. Wouldn't wake my dog! However, the melody alarm option is more than sufficient. Good radio reception for an internal antenna too.

The best clock radio ever!
By Eugene from Portland, OR on 05/28/2007.
Best Uses: Home
Pros: Neat Features, Reliable, Easy To Set
This clock radio actually has 4 alarm setting: alarm A weekday, alarm A weekend, alarm B weekday, alarm B weekend. Yet, these alarms are very easy to set. The clock is beautifully designed and display looks really cool in the dark.
The best clock radio I have ever had
By Sandy from Larkspur, Colorado on 05/16/2007.
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Lots of little buttons
Pros: Space-saving, Easy To Set, Neat Features, Good Volume
I am totally sold on the display of this clock - you can clearly see that the alarm is set, and when it is set for. Seeing the time is a lot more reliable than a little dot light which might be the alarm, might be the PM indicator. You can have two alarm times for weekdays, two separate alarm times for weekend days. Instead of telling my husband I am taking a nap and "don't let me sleep more than an hour", this clock does that too (and doesn't forget). The only thing that has taken getting used to is which button on the top does what - but since there is an active feedback for each button on the front display, you can keep pressing buttons till you get the right one.
Very nice
By AL from Colorado Springs, CO on 05/11/2007.
Pros: Easy To Set, Reliable, Neat Features, Good Volume
Best Uses: Home
I really like how easy it is to set the alarms (all 4 of them) and it is very easy to know which alarm is set. Only a couple small problems. The snooze is set at 10 minutes and you can't adjust that to be shorter or longer. Also, there is a button for daylight savings time which is right on top, so it is easy to hit accidentally and unknowingly adjust the time. Aside from these small problems, I really like it.
I lOVE IT!!! ... Nothing else to say:).
By Romeo from Cleveland, OH on 05/4/2007.
Best Uses: Home
Pros: Neat Features, Easy To Set, Reliable
For the purpose - it's the best thing ever... so far. I love it. I saw it at my friend's house and decided to buy it since I work different shifts and I need to wake up at different times.
Not great if you want to know the time
By me from Western NY on 04/20/2007.
Pros: Good Volume, Easy To Set, Neat Features, Reliable
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Numbers can't be read, Can't see time, Not bright enough
I love the clock and I hate the clock all at the same time. I bought it because I loved the dual alarm set up and the option of waking up to a soft melody. With that being said, I hate it because when I do wake up, I can't read the time. I have never had a clock where you can't read the time. It's simply too dim, and if you turn the brightness up, all you have is a night light. I now have two alarm clocks in my room, One with red numbers that I can read, and the Sony that wakes me up.
A terrific clock radio
By GardenSpirit from Durham, NC on 04/9/2007.
Cons: Atomic reset didn't work
Pros: Easy to read, Good Volume, Daylight savings button, Easy To Set, Dual alarms, Neat Features, Two level dimmer, Reliable
Best Uses: Home
I bought one of these [...] and loved it. Needed several more for my retreat center so ordered four [...] -- two of them failed to set via atomic clock, so returned for replacement.

Good basic clock radio
By Don the critic from Florida on 02/12/2007.
Pros: Automatically resets time, Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up
Cons: Poor sound
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms
Very simple to use, this clock radio is a good value, however the sound is weak and tinny
Great little clock radio
By keep it simple gramma from Reno, NV on 02/12/2007.
Pros: Extra star of ease of use, Clear Signal, Good Sound, Easy To Set Up
Best Uses: Guest room, Basic Systems, Smaller Rooms
I first saw radio as a guest room radio while visitng my son. The prior one was bigger and fancier, but even my very tech savvy husband could never figure out how to set the alarm. This one is incredibly easy, has two alarms, week-end off, easy sleep and nap functions. Could perhaps use digital tuning, but I only listen to one station, so it's not a problem for me. I went home and ordered one for my nightstand and think I'll get another for the guest room. Takes very little room.
Very nice and useful
By Wen from Irvine, CA on 02/12/2007.
Pros: Clear Signal, Good Sound, Easy To Set Up, Accurate Controls
Best Uses: Larger Rooms, Basic Systems, Smaller Rooms
It looks nice, especially the screen backlight. It's very useful, including the radio, the snooze function, the nap function, the sleep function, the day-light-saving switch, the weekend mode, the dual alarms. Totally worth the price.

Very cute, and plays Grieg!
By Margot from New York, NY on 02/1/2007.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Clear Signal, Accurate Controls, Good Sound
Best Uses: Smaller Rooms
This clock radio has a lot of features for the price [...]. The sound quality on the radio seems fine, it is easy to set multiple alarms, and the snooze button is sufficiently large and far away from the clock-setting buttons. It even plays a version of Grieg during the week and Vivaldi on the weekends if you don't want to wake up to radio or a regular alarm.
Excellent Value
By KirstenMC from Plano, TX on 01/29/2007.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Clear Signal, Good Sound
Best Uses: Basic Systems
Cons: Light Too Bright
The only reason it gets four instead of five stars is that like several other people, I find the light a little bright, even on the dim setting. I have put a small tissue box in front of it that I can easily move if I need to see the time in the middle of the night, otherwise I love this clock. It is the perfect size and the features and functions are perfect.

Best Uses: Basic Systems
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Clear Signal, Good Sound, Accurate Controls
Cons: None
I love how easy it is to set the time and alarm functions. Radio sounded decent for a clock radio this size. I guess my only complaint might be its appearance - I wish it came in different colors.

Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Clear Signal, Good Sound

By Suzette from Charlottesville, VA. on 11/29/2006.
Best Uses: Basic Systems
Pros: Clear Signal, Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up, Nice size for bedside, Good sound for the money
I love the dual alarms, even dual alarms for the weekend as well. Sound quality is fine for what it is meant for. It has a dimmer for the display so that it is not too bright at night. Easy to set for DST. Has battery backup for power outages.
Great in every way but one
By Tarrant from Boston, MA on 11/20/2006.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up
Best Uses: Basic Systems
Cons: Poor Reception
Excellent controls. Small footprint makes it great for smaller nightstands. Easy to setup - I especially like the weekend/weekday alarm setup. The only problem I have with this is the absolutely horrible radio reception. My cellphone speakerphone has better reception and sound quality.
