Works perfectly
By Steve from Ohio on 02/4/2009.
Pros: Clear Signal, Easy To Set Up, Accurate Controls
Cons: Sound output is low
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
The sound output is lower than all my other components so I need to adjust the volume switching between components. There is an antenna out port that acts as a signal splitter so you can use the same antenna for this tuner and another tuner. I use this to connect to tuner in my computer for DVR.
Great Tuner!
By Quentin from Austin, TX on 02/2/2009.
Best Uses: Basic Systems
Pros: Clear Signal, Accurate Controls, Good Sound, Easy To Set Up
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
This HDTV receiver did a much better job of receiving the weak DTV signals in my area than the tuner that is built in to my TV. The menu system is logially designed and beautiful to look at. It has a very nice channel guide to see what shows are comming on. I found the signal strength meter very useful. There is no delay when switching channels like other DTV tuners that I've used.
Samsung HD Set Top Box
By PN from Corpus Christi, TX on 11/28/2008.
Describe Yourself: Casual User
Best Uses: Living Room
Cons: Marginal analog pass thru
Pros: Small footprint, Easy To Set Up
Purchased unit to receive HD over the air signals. Purchased a Toshiba HD-Ready set 6 years ago in anticipation of the switch to digital broadcasts. Samsung unit has a number of nice features, such as its own volume control, mute, and on screen viewing guide. The user's manual made setup a snap. Unit is small and unobtrusive. Originally connected the unit so that the same antenna input also fed the Philips DVR and television; daisy chain like. Discovered that when the unit is off, no signal is passed down the line and when it is on the analog pass through is marginal. Solved the problem by buying a splitter and connecting the Samsung unit to one lead and the DVR and TV to the other. Everything works as it should now. Overall, we have been very satisfied with the operation and the quality of picture the Samsung DTB-H260F produces. We would recommend this unit to anyone with an HD ready set.
Excellent product
By waynesworld from Carmel, IN on 11/6/2008.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Strong Signal
Describe Yourself: Enthusiast
Best Uses: Living Room
I purchased this Samsung unit after carefully studying it's capabilities. My local cable TV company Time Warner / Brighthouse dropped the local CBS affiliate due to a contract dispute, so I decided to add this tuner to my home theater set up. My application was to receive free Over The Air High Definition signal, and with a set of cheap rabbit ears, the picture and sound was flawless, even better than the compressed signal from the cable company. I did not try hooking this tuner to the cable TV, but I believe it will process unscrambled channels as well. Nice cables included. Highly recommend
Hard to beat, great product
By boogama from Philadelphia, PA on 10/6/2008.
Pros: Intuitive Controls, Easy To Setup, Clear Sound, Interfaces Well With TV
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy, Audiophile, Practical, Musically Inclined
Best Uses: Television Shows, Living Room
This is a great unit that also happens to read descrambled digital cable signals. With a decent passive tuner (terk), I'm able to pull in a lot of free HD programming, and the guide feature is great, it works just like programming guides on satellite and cable.
Not what it seems.
By WindsorFox from Baton Rouge Louisiana on 06/11/2008.
Pros: Digital outputs, Fine-Tuning, Looks good, Easy To Set Up
Cons: Doesnt work as described
Describe Yourself: Gearhead, Professional, Tech Savvy
I wanted to use this as a tuner for two TVs. One was connected to the RF output and the other to the HDMI output. Well that did not work. First the RF output was just a pass through, it did not show what the box was tuned to. So what's the point of having that output? Second the description from Samsung says it has a QAM tuner, however when connected to the CATV it only picked up digital channels and no analog cable channels. IMHO it should receive all channels and let you choose which to keep and the RF output should show the same thing as the digital outputs. Then it would be a very useful tuner worth it's price. Now I understand why so many are being sold on eBay and returned to stores. I do not recommend this appliance.

Useful product w/ limited applicability
By mpm17268 from Waynesboro, PA on 06/3/2008.
Best Uses: Living Room, Small Rooms, Bedroom
Pros: Strong Signal
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
The Samsung DTB-H260F is a high definition digital receiver that I researched for a long time before purchasing it. Pros: 1) the tuner is quite sensitive and will pick up many more digital tv stations than the government-approved converter boxes; 2) with a strong enough digital broadcast signal and the right equipment, you'll be able to receive gorgeous hi-def video with hi-fi 5.1 surround sound for free; 3) digital broadcasts are a definite improvement over analog ones. Cons: 1) you cannot add stations manually--all you can do to add a new channel is perform an auto scan after moving your antenna and hope that you pick up additional channels (but you may also lose some channels); some of the menu items (e.g., signal strength meter) are buried deep in the menu and require the user to go through several layers of choices to access them. Please note that in order to get the full benefits of this receiver, you must have a tv that has either HDMI and/or component video inputs. If you have only RCA composite inputs on your tv, you will not get the best video quality and you will not be able to view the complete viewing guide. Your tv should also have a flat screen with the capability of showing hi-def resolution (e.g., an "HDTV-Ready Monitor"). It also helps to get the best sound if you have a home theater receiver with a dolby digital 5.1 surround sound decoder and a digital optical audio input in close proximity to the tv. Using a digital optical audio cable to connect the Samsung receiver to the home theater receiver, you can get crystal clear surround sound on many of the tv shows. I would also recommend having a digital antenna rotator with a remote control to make finding the "sweet spot(s)" for your antenna easier than with the old style of rotator. Finally, get a decent programmable remote control that can "learn" the functions of the remote for this receiver and all of your other remotes (e.g., Sony RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning Remote). Having had this receiver now for several weeks, I find that I'm watching more tv than I have watched in years, simply because of the gorgeous hi-def video and the beautiful hi-fi surround sound. I'm still disappointed in much of the content of tv broadcasts, but at least it's wonderful to view and hear!

Cons: Constant change of aerial
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fine-Tuning, Durable, Excellent HD rendering, OTA reception great, Wide choice of AV setups

I don't have cable, but just the OTA channels are wider range of choice...and much clearer. Might be over-sensitive because often need to change aerial position with weather changes.
Better Than I Expected
By fleabag from Utah on 04/17/2008.
Best Uses: Living Room
Pros: Strong Signal, Durable, Easy To Set Up, Fine-Tuning
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
Works great. I was worried because I live in a rural area served by very weak UHF analog translators. Our new low-power digital transmitters are in the same place, and I was worried I would not get a strong enough digital signal to see digital tv. Wow does this unit work great! I do wish the book had mentioned that one can use the green jack on the back of the unit to go into a yellow analog video line-in jack on an old analog VCR (or TV) so one can see the unit's setup menus on an old TV (just in black & white, however). The unit's yellow line-out jack provides analog color video, but without the setup menu. Being able to see the setup menu on an analog-only tv made the setup and testing of my new system much easier!
Superior picture quality and Dolby audio

Best Uses: Any where in the house
Pros: Strong Signal, Durable, Fine-Tuning, Easy To Set Up
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy, Practical, Gearhead
Upgraded to this STB only because it has HDMI and at a GREAT PRICE!!!. I was blown away at the AMAZING image quality and the fidelity of the Dolby Digital optical. I have a Westinghouse 37w1 LCD Monitor, an old Sony STRDE725 A/V receiver, a Yamaha 10" sub and 5 orphaned bookshelf speakers of various brands and sizes in my "special room". I'm in 1080i heaven!!! Now that NASCAR's back, the only thing missing is the SMELL.
"Don't buy for bedroom without cable."
By Sealab from Knoxville, TN on 03/24/2008.
Cons: Poor Reception
Describe Yourself: Practical
This was purchased for my master bedroom where we just moved a digital TV and wanted to get the HDTV to come in and we've hoping it would get some of the other channels to come in better as we only use an antenna, not cable. But instead of getting them in better, we cannot get those channels at all unless we which it back over to using just the TV, so that's where I usually leave it because in the mornings and late nights I want to be able to which back and forth and it's too hard to do using this especially in the dark in bed.
Outstanding set-top box for HDTV
By SteveInWA from Kirkland, WA on 03/1/2008.
Best Uses: Bedroom, Living Room
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Excellent reception, Strong Signal
Cons: none
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy, Gearhead
This device is designed to connect to a TV that doesn't already include a over-the-air (OTA) digital TV tuner (using the ATSC 8-VSB standard, vs. the analog NTSC standard). Digital set-top boxes (STBs) have been available for several years, but have been a very small niche market, because most people now use cable or satellite services for TV reception. However, if you are only interested in watching your local TV stations, OTA DTV is free, and provides an outstanding picture with surround sound. DTV tuner technology has been continually improving since its introduction, and this Samsung tuner is the latest in at least 3 or 4 generations of their product line. Inside, the "guts" have been reduced to a small RF tuner module and the latest all-in-one DTV chip from ATI, same as is used in many new HDTVs. Its reception and setup menus are outstanding. I live in a terrible fringe reception area, and I have a large rooftop DTV antenna used with my older DTV tuners. This unit picks up all the local channels simply using an indoor UHF loop antenna, which is nothing more than a circle of wire. Next February, NTSC analog TV will be shut off, and anyone still using a TV without an ATSC tuner will need a STB to receive OTA broadcasts. There are several $40-70 converters now hitting the market, which are eligible to use the $40 rebate coupon provided by the FCC, but they only produce a low-resolution (480i) signal to display on a conventional TV. If you have a EDTV or HDTV monitor, this Samsung unit will allow you to display a 480p, 720p, or 1080i picture, depending on the capability of your set. It supports all of the video connection types, including HDMI, and includes a digital audio output. I expect that high-quality STBs like this one won't be around for long, given that many people choose to replace their TV with a new one instead of buying a STB, so if you are in the market for a STB, now is the time to get this unit.

I bought a HDTV w/o a tuner expecting to use DirecTV HD tuner, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle (new dish and receiver). So I now get HD with my roof antenna. Works for me but definitely not the way I'd do it if I had it to do over.

Has greatly inproved the picture on my four year old projection monitor. Never knew it could look so good. I receive 18 channels of OTA broadcast, the other two in our area do not broadcast in HDTV. The OTA hdtv is much better than my Dish digital service.

Cons: slow channel changes
product performs as advertised. before buying i would recomend evaluating the strength of signal at your location. i live about 12 miles (as the crow flys) from seattle and near the top of a hill. i get 7 of 10 on signal strength and maybe once every couple hours the picture will freeze for a half second because of signal quality. most reception problems can be corrected with antenna upgrades. i have owned this hdtv for 7 years now and am finally able to view hi-def and it's mindblowing (espically nfl football).

two things: -takes time to surf all options it offers instead four menu screens they should put some features on remote bottons for quick change like a signal strenght (i use TREK HDTV anthena and signal brakes once for 45min demend different positions for diferent chanels but far its only one that works best - i checked five of them) -back to receiver; cool thing that u can check tv program; it;s way slow =( but u can set reminding list. for caption lovers it will take hours to decide which one to use =) overall: -crisp cristal view for chip price -you'll have all if try it with projector (BenQ MP721 via HDMI outlet) also has optical outlet for sound -if used will flood you room with digital 3D sound highly recomend good luck

I like this tuner very much. It works great. I like the way it goes to a show I want to see when I push the button for it to remind me of a show I want to see. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the HD thing much. I am going to like it for sure now though. I see how many other channels I'll be able to watch now. I like the way the picture looks when it fills the screen with a HD picture. Most of the channels don't come in so strong in my area right now but I'm sure they will get stronger before 2,009. They all come in strong when I connect the cable line though. I can't use the tv guide from the cable connection though.

Pros: Fast Setup, COMPACTSPACE SAVING, Attractive Design, Improved Audio/Video
Best Uses: Home
Cons: LIMITATIONS ON OUTPUTS
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
USED TO PROVIDE HD TUNING TO AN "HD READY" TV/MONITOR. AN ECONIMICAL WAY TO ADD HD TO HD READY DEVICES. HOOK UP IS QUICK AND EASY. FROM BOX TO VIEWING IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. VERY GOOD AUDIO/VIDEO. THE GUIDE INITIALIZED QUICKLY (NOT AN OVERNIGHT AFFAIR AS WERE SOME DEVICES I HAVE PURCHASED) INTUITIVE USER INTERFACE IS GOOD. DIDN'T HAVE TO REFER TO DOCS AT ALL. ONE "CON": THE HDMI OUTPUT AND THE COMPONENT OUTPUT ARE EITHER/OR. YOU HAVE TO FLIP A SWITCH TO SELECT ONE OR THE OTHER. WOULD BE HANDIER IF THEY WERE BOTH ON ALL THE TIME AND 2 SETS COULD BE CONNECTED.

Best Uses: Home, Movies, Record NE Patriots games
Cons: NONE
Pros: Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video
I record all the NE Pats games with a Samsung DTB-H260F Digital Set Top Box into a VCR. The VCR allows more control over the recording process....ie...the pause control.... The STB gives a good stable analog or digital video signal. The vcr tape is recorded in to my pc hard drive and then on to a dvd or cd. I do recommend the product. I have tried it with four different uhf antennae. Not the HDTV antennae....the antennae I used were purchased during the 70s and 80s. (Radio Shack double bow-tie, Archer Color Eagle 100, Rembrandt UHF/VHF, RCA UHF/VHF). In most cases a commercialized, bright, shiny, plastic, HDTV antenna is NOT required......an old, archaic, UHF unit will work. My final choice was the double bow-tie. All 4 units when used with the Samsung DTB-H260F Digital Set Top Box detected at least 22 STABLE digital channels.
Menu won't display on analog TV
By Point Zero from Pittsburgh, PA on 09/24/2007.
Pros: Fast Setup, Attractive Design, Simple Controls, Improved Audio/Video
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Poor Design
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
This is an overall good product. The only let down is that one can only see the on-screen menu if the receiver is connected to the display via the HDMI output. It means that you will not able able to set it up properly if all you have is an analog TV with only a video-in RCA input. The receiver arrived 1 week before my LCD panel arrives. So during that week I only had an analog TV to test the receiver with, and there was not much I can do. For example, I was not able to make the receiver search for all the digital stations, as that requires the use of the on-screen menu. I could only keep pressing the channel up and down button, and see that there were three stations that were picked up. Once my LCD panel arrived, I connected the receiver to the panel via HDMI, and after running the search function via the on-screen menu, the receiver is able to pick up and register all the digital stations that anntenaweb.org tells me are available in my vicinity.
Beats paying $60/month for digital cable
By the Architect from Evanston, IL on 09/7/2007.
Cons: Haven't found any yet
Best Uses: Home, HD sporting events
Pros: Simple Controls, Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy, Gearhead
I have this unit connected to a Sony VPLH560 projector w/ an HDMI cable displaying at 92" diagonal picture and the quality it great. It's the first time I've had HD hooked up to the projector and it just came to life. The unit is very good at receiving signals and the sound quality it great also. For the price, you just can't get any better and it pays itself off in about 3 months by not having digital cable.

Cons: Frequent Pic Distortion, Slow Connection, Poor HD Selection, No On-Screeen HD Selectio
Best Uses: Home
Describe Yourself: Professional, Tech Savvy, Gearhead, Practical
The Samsung DTB-H260F picks up over the air signals fast through my outdoor antenna on the roof with a signal booster device I bought [...] a few years ago. I get all major channels (ch. 2,4,5,7,9,11,13...) and even the Tube, a music video station, which is usually got it from cable. However, the unit has some problems to display 720p on my Sharp wide-screen LC-26DA5U. I couldn't make it work even switching back and forth to change from 480p to 720p. I can only use 480p and/or 1080i.Another problem that annoys me the most is the unit very often displays distortion pictures on my HDTV. Especially when it is first turned on regardless that channel is @ 480p, 720p or 1080i resolution either with 4:3 letter box or 16:9 format if the unit is set at 1080i output. I have to reset the toggle switch in the back of the unit back to 480p then the pictures go back to normal but now I watch the program at 480p even though the channel is broadcasting at 1080i or 720p. I have to switch the setting back to 1080i from 480p if I want to watch the program @ 1080i or 720p. Sometime I have to reset a few times to get it over the distortion problems. I worry one day I will break the plastic toggle switch since I use it so often. It will be better if the resolution selection can be done on-screen menu. So I normally set the unit at 480p to watch news and 1080i for a good TV program. And again, the unit is relatively cheap. I save $ by not order cable and you know how much they charge you these days. If you dont care these little annoying problems then get this unit or wait for a few more months maybe Samsung may com up a better model! I am doubt about it since all new HDTV now has a built-in HDTV tuner.
Good Product / First Abt Purchase
By Psyclone from Cedar Rapids, IA on 06/11/2007.
Pros: Fast Connection, Crisp Picture, Easy Installation
Best Uses: Home
Cons: No NTSC tuner, Loses favorites on rescan
Describe Yourself: Professional, Tech Savvy
I am very pleased with this product. The ATSC tuner does a good job of pulling in stations. This has a 5th generation ATSC chip, although it is ATI and not LG. I haven't compared it directly to my LG 5th generation tuner, but I can't tell the difference in my casual observations. I was a bit disappointed it didn't have an NTSC tuner, but that wasn't why I bought it, so it's not that big of deal. I like the way it handles 16:9 Full/Pillar and 4:3 formats. It's less confusing than many other tuners I've owned. But why can't anybody make a tuner that automatically adapts to the broadcast format. The biggest drawback is that rescanning for new channels does not retain favorites. That comes into play when scanning cable QAM channels. It's an adventure seeing what you will find each time you scan. You can start the scan anywhere you like and terminate it to minimize the lost favorites, so there are ways to live with it. And a rescan of QAM does not affect the over-the-air ATSC favorites. In conclusion, this is really the only viable option right now for ATSC over-the-air tuners that I could find. All others have drawbacks. Be especially aware of the down-convert / up-convert ATSC tuners that are found in DVD recorders. It may sound like a feature, but the pure HDTV signal does not get directly to your TV. The difference may not be noticeable.
Delivers what it promises

Pros: Easy Installation, Crisp Picture
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Poor Remote
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy, Professional
it does what it advertises very well and the reviews here reflect it, so I'll just point out the things I don't like about it: (1) it takes about 15 seconds from the time you press the on button until a picture appears (2) you have to manually adjust the aspect ratio, otherwise all the 4:3 stuff appears stretched. It should be able to handle this automatically (3) when you press the guide button, the channel you're watching is supposed to get shrunk down and appear in the upper left of the screen along with the guide. It does this, but only after the sound and picture disappear for about 10 seconds while it pulls in the guide info
Great product!

Pros: Easy Installation, Crisp Picture, Fast Connection
Best Uses: Movies, Home, Sports

Very easy to setup to any HD-Ready TV. The only average performance mark would be, at times the channel menu is slow to fill.

A well designed and executed TV tuner.
By Pheasant Plucker from Columbus, OH on 05/24/2007.
Pros: Easy Installation, Crisp Picture
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Poor Remote
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
Compact and nicely designed. Apart from the remote, which sucks in terms of range and ease of use, this is a great tuner. On it's first scan of available channels it pulled in 11 off an outside antenna only 12' off the ground and pointing in the wrong direction! Half of these were HD and some I had never even seen before. It makes you realize how awful the tuners are in typical TV sets. This Samsung is providing a signal to a Panasonic projector which throws a huge HDTV image on to the opposite wall. The offerings of the local cable providers pale in comparison.

Pros: Easy Installation, Fast Connection, Crisp Picture
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Poor Remote
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
Very good product. The only design problem that I have with it (aside from the smallness of the buttons at the bottom of the remote) is that there seems to be no way to keep the signal strength indicator visible when you change channels, which would be a great help when you're positioning your antenna. Otherwise, the manual is as poor as everyone has come to expect from electronics manufacturers. For instance, while it very clearly describes how to change the channel or adjust the volume (duh), it doesn't indicate in any way how you might connect a vcr or dvd recorder. So it took a while to figure out how to make the right connections to use a vcr with this thing. Otherwise, an excellent product.
It just plain works
By James from San Jose, CA on 05/17/2007.
Cons: 480i
Pros: Easy Installation, Crisp Picture
Best Uses: Home
Describe Yourself: Professional, Tech Savvy
The setup was a snap. I am using an Olevia 26" LCD HD-Ready monitor. I was going to go with cable, but decided to save money, thus needing this product. The included cables worked fine (No HDMI cable). It uses the component, which was a bonus to me, as I didn't have to use the only HDMI port on my Olevia. I was able to pull in 2 channels without an antenna! I don't like the 480i channels as they are stretched and you have to use the "aspect" button to correct. 720p and 1080i come in at the right aspect ratio. However, I have more 480i channels than the 720p or 1080i. Consider that a personal irritation. The receiver works like a charm and my monitor displays it nicely. I would recommend it to those wanting to view broadcast ATSC signals on an HD-ready monitor.
Good overall, some problems with QAM
By Patrik from New York on 05/7/2007.
Pros: Crisp Picture
Describe Yourself: Gearhead
Best Uses: Home
Cons: QAM reception limited
Very good box for OTA HD reception. It will also work with cable QAM signal but there are some gotchas: no program guide, doesn't pick up all QAM channels, crashes when adding/deleting channels from memory, changes channels for no reason. Unfortunately there is nothing better on the market right now in this price range.
Big improvement of reception over T451
By Media Genie from Irvine, CA on 04/30/2007.
Describe Yourself: Gearhead
Pros: Great DTV reception, Crisp Picture, Fast channel lock-in, Easy Installation
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Slow Onscreen Guide, Slow boot up
I've been using Samsung SIR-T451 before I got this one. This one beats T451 in every aspect. I receive many more digital channels that T451 just could not recieve. Also channel transition is much faster - about a half second average. No more annoying delay of 1-2 seconds that T451 had. Picture quality is great, setup is easy and intuitive. The only thing I didn't like is slow boot up time. Overall, however, I think this is THE BEST ATSC tuner out there. Highly recommended.

We had an "HD Ready" TV, but no digital receiver. [...] it was well worth the wait. I was able to use my old TV antenna and started getting about twice the amount of channels that I had using an analog signal. The picture is out of this world, and best of all, no static when it's windy outside.

hdtv is really made for 16:9. I bought this as there were no small sets available with a hd ota capability. That has now changed with Samsung's 19 inch wide screen. If you bought a wide screen tv without an ASTC signal converter, this will be a welcome addition. It works well. It does the job is says it will do.

Digs Digital Signal out of Analog Snow
By paulccsi from Malta, NY on 03/22/2007.

Easy Setup; Excellent Results
By LynnKCircle from Houston, Texas on 03/21/2007.
Pros: Easy Installation, Crisp Picture, Fast Connection
Best Uses: Home
Cons: No HDMI Cable
About the only shortcoming is that it did not come with an HDMI cable; I had to go out and spend $35.00 more to get one. Since I also have a DVD-recorder, I had to run the antenna cable from the antenna to the DTB-H260F, then from that to the recorder, and finally to the TV. That was about the most complex part of installing it. With an RCA powered antenna, I was able to automatically program all the hi-def channels in Houston. The on-screen programming was pretty-much a no-brainer.

A good choice for over-the-air HDTV
By Sandho1 from Fishers, IN on 02/22/2007.
Pros: Easy Installation
Best Uses: Home, Sports, Movies
Cons: Need amplified Antenna
Purchased this unit to replace a Samsung SIR T451 Set Top Box. The DTB H260F has a HDMI connection that the older unit does not. Over all it's much more compact and does a great job. You may need an amplified antenna if you are in a fringe area or have a combination of UHF and VHF transmission sources and use a directional HDTV antenna.

Cons: No Cons
Wanted over the air HD here in phoenix. Far more forgiving than a satellite hookup. Worked the first time.
Small footprint. Easy installation.
By Demo from Brooklyn, NY on 02/21/2007.
Pros: Fast Connection, Easy Installation
Best Uses: Home, Sports
Realitively simple to hook up to TV. Extensive user guide hook-up information. User guide cold have been a little more detailed in explaining feature option funtionality. Example: What to expect with 9x16 HD screen sizing selection. Helpful to HDTV viewer newbies. Overall good features, and funtionality. One potential improvement: Add a multi mode remote capable of turning a TV ON/OFF, and TV volume level (Unless other maker multi-mode remotes will support this device?).

What's up with the sound?
By LEW from Holcombe, WI on 02/16/2007.
Pros: Crisp Picture, Easy Installation
Best Uses: Home
Cons: Sound
Easy to hook and great picture quality. Only problem I have is the sound has a slight delay ot it, mouths move and the sound is slightly behind. Don't know if this is a problem with the system or a connection or my TV. When I bypass the HD receiver the sound is OK. One other negative is I can't seem to add channels manually, if the receiver doesn't see a striong enough signal there seems to be nothing you can do to try to add a station.
Small profile, big on performance!
By Fish from Los Angeles, CA on 02/14/2007.
Pros: Crisp Picture, Easy Installation, Compact Unit
Best Uses: Home, Sports, Office, Movies
Cons: Poor Remote
Excellent picture quality. Fast and easy installation. Provisions for both HDMI and component cable connections. Remote has small buttons and dark background which makes miskeying selections common. Nearly perfect over-the-air reception using a standard (non-HDTV) UHF/VHF rooftop antenna.
Not Too Bad A Box
By jt1520 from Cincinnati, Ohio on 02/14/2007.
Pros: Fast Connection, Small Size, Crisp Picture, Easy Installation
Best Uses: Home, Receiving Over-The-Air HD, Sports
Cons: Slow Onscreen Guide, Range of IR Remote, Poor Remote
I was looking for a HD-receiver that would give me free over-the-air HD local channels. Well this receiver certainly does the job. Crsip pictures and very easy to install and operate. This receiver is only limited by the antenna it is attached to. Good antenna, great picture, no jerking or digitization features. Bad antenna, bad signal, stop & start picture viewing. Therefore, just attach a good roof antenna or good indoor antenna and it performs very nicely. This was a nice purchase!

Cons: Price
Excellent HD Receiver. I cancelled my satellite provider and went the way of no monthly fees and the picture is absolutely amazing! I have a 32" Niko lcd and even though it's a less expensive tv it still has as good a picture if not better than my other hd thanks to the Samsung receiver![...]

Great product
By Bauker from Phoenix, AZ on 02/14/2007.
Pros: Fast Connection, Crisp Picture, Easy Installation
Best Uses: Office, Home, Movies
Requires a one-time setup of individual channels, which is annoying. Requires strong signal or one may receive channel breakup on certain channel(s). Some channel(s) (spike to name one) are not present that are on stadard cable, even with unit hardwired. Maybe my signal isn't strong enough? I found the numbering of the channels strange and impossible to memorize. Other than that the unit does as it says. Crisp, clear, free HDTV, and even normal channels look great.

Big improvement in digital tv reception
By Bills from Dunkirk, Maryland on 12/20/2006.
Pros: Easy Installation, Great DTV reception
Best Uses: Home
Cons: No menus on analog output
This digital tuner provides much improved reception in poor signal areas, where digital reception was not reliable with earlier tuners. The only flaw is that on screen menus are not visible on the composite analog output.

Works great with my Samsung DLP! I bought this to receive local channels I cannot get with Cox, but I have ended up using this box to watch all the locals channels, because they look even better than through cable.
