Very easy to install & works well. Right out of the box it always sputters for the 1st glass of water (which you're supposed to throw away anyway.) Our fridge puts the filter on a timer & lets us know after 6 mos to replace it. It would be nice if the filter itself had a recommendation of what its lifespan was (XX number of 8 oz glasses or something like that) so that we would really know when to replace the filter. Not a big deal though - just a future product recommendation!

Come on, who is really gonna read this (ok you?). It is a filter with one replacement choice, it costs money. So it stinks....but so does drinking cruddy water. ABT had the best price in the industry on this. They did raise their price (hint by about 10 bucks per)....What more do you want?

Great Filter - Pricey

The filter is plug and play. I haven't tried different filters as I can only use this kind in my Whirlpool fridge so cannot compare to other filters, but the water does taste like mineral water which makes it worthwhile to use it. Wish it lasted longer than 6 months and cost a little less. Although I'm curious if the filter's life is determined by time or volume, the latter makes more sense to me so if true it can be used for more than 6 months i guess but end of the day it is much better option compared to bottled / dispensed water.

Our refrigerator has a warning light that tells us when to order a new filter. We order on-line and -- bada-bing-bada-boom -- it's here without skipping a beat. Our city water is pretty bad, but the water through the Whirlpool refrigerator filter is as good as any bottled water. I mostly use the water to refill my water bottle. Of course, the ice made through the filter is perfect.

Good product...just like with all filters of this design, you need to run the water up to 5 minutes to flush out the system before use. Also make sure the filter is actually seated properly in the refrigerator becuase you will not notice if it isn't installed properly. The water dispenser will work with or without a filter.

I grew up in Hawaii and was used to good tap water. Where I live now we don't have good tap water. This filter gets our tap water tasting good. The only thing I use water from my faucet for is washing dishes. I even use the water from my fridge door for cooking...it really does make a difference in taste of the final product.

I purchased this water filter from Abt Electronics..I am supremely happy with this filter...not only is the filter a Great thing for use in my relatively new side by side refrigerator but ABT ELECTRONICS has got to be the BEST facility for on line purchases....I was absolutely amazed as to how quickly I got the filter that I ordered from these folks...moreover the price was GREAT...Clearly, ABT ELECTRONICS is the BEST to deal with in terms of customer satisfaction....on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest grade in terms of customer satisfaction, I would give these folks a 12.........TRULY, THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE, POSITIVE,BEST.

This was the first time we had to replace the filter (fridge is less than a year old) and it was a little difficult to replace at first but once we figured it out, it was a sinch. It was extremely easy to replace my old filter that came with the refrigerator. This product was the exact same model as that filter. The only issue was that it takes a lot of time and running of water after the installation to get the air bubbles out of the line and filter. I would definitely buy it again though.

When you replace the filter there will be an air bubble in the water line that will come out after running it for 20-30 seconds. I would suggest using a pitcher because when the bubble in the line makes it's way out it can be a bit messy. Water shoots everywhere! :)

PUR water filters are THE best!

I have used PUR water filters in the past on my faucet in VA and I was amazed at its effectiveness in filtering smelly water. So, when I found out Whirlpool started using PUR water filters in their refrigerators, I knew I had to buy one. It filters the FL water just as well as it did the VA water. I will always use PUR water filters for my refrigerator, even if a competitor comes out with a replacement filter that costs half of what the PUR filters cost, I will still buy this filter.
