a major upgrade from my prior Miele

My old Miele wouldn't accept bleaching agents. I do miss the ability to shorten the wash cycle but the extra capacity allows me to wash all the sheets in one cycle.

This washer is the quietest I ever heard. When it's washing the only noise heard is the cloths moving inside. You could sleep in the room and not hear the thing. The reviewers who said it shakes violently on spin probably didn't remove the struts that are installed for shipping. Mine is on the second level. If the spin cycle is on max and the load is off balance then it vibrates a little. But just a little. The washer senses an out of balance load and tries to adjust it by stopping and rolling the clothes back and forth. If it's out of balance too much then then speed is automatically adjusted down.Cleaning is fantastic. The spin cycle almost spins the clothes dry. I also have the Miele dryer which is great too. [...]This thing is heavy. If you're putting it on the second level figure it weighs 200 lbs.

I purchased this after owning a front-loading LG for the past 4 years. The Miele 4840 is a much better washer. The construction is solid and the controls are intuitive. There are numerous pre-programmed settings and the ability to completely customize your wash cycle. The machine is quiet, but the cycles are long.If you are considering this machine, you must ensure that it has been properly installed and leveled. There was a severe vibration problem that presented during the initial cycle. This was caused by improper installation. [...] the counterweight was not able to function properly. I suspect that this may be a contributing factor to the vibration issues that have been documented in earlier reviews.

This washing machine works great and requires very little explanation from the owner's manual. The cycle is almost silent, except for the extended spin - which causes some audible vibration. Not a big deal since it is an amazingly fast spin rate which virtually dries the clothes for you.

When I hear the problems people are having I'm surprised because there are my Miele W/D down in my less~than~elegant bare~bones basement laundry room with the old concrete floor, across from the water~heater and (thank God, new) furnace, working like a charm. I absolutely love these things! I have washed everything in them. I have discovered that all stains and even old mildew~y things come out beautifully (I used extra hot and long washing cycles). What a pleasant surprise.

The most important qualities I used to select this product are quiet operation and efficient cleaning. This Miele far exceeds my expectations in every way. After having this product for about a month, I am amazed at the quality, performance, and extreme quiet operation. It is perfect for me in every way. It was very expensive, but in my opinion, worth every penny.

This washer gets clothes really clean! It is also very quiet such that you forget it's running. It has numerous settings for every kind of material and cycle imaginable, and is easy to use (changing settings is very simple). The only negative i can even think of is that being a front-loader, the door is below eye-level, which means you have to bend down to load/unload. This is fine for me, but someone with a bad back or an older person might not enjoy that. You can buy a platform to raise it, if you think you might need the extra height. Otherwise, no complaints at all.

I've had the Trouchtronic washer and dryer for about a month and I absolutely love them. I've owned and operated many washers and dryers in my life but these machines are in a league of their own - you can feel the superior quality in every touch. The machines are quiet and tight, there is no movement anywhere other than the spinning tub during the spin cycle, the controls allow for every possible combination of choices and you DON'T have to wipe out the rim after every use (as with other brands of front loaders.) The clothes come out cleaner than ever and nearly dry from the extended spin and the capacity is very generous for large loads. It's true, you can spend your money buying new machines every 7 or 8 years or buy these and be done with it for 30. I believe they are worth every penny. I actually look forward to doing laundry so that I can use these fine machines. I also highly recommend Miele's new laundry detergents. I purchased the super white and the super color from their web site.

HI,I'M RABBI RICH.I WROTE THE ABOVE REVIEW OF THE MIELE W 4840. I HAVE FIGURED OUT HOW TO REDUCE THE VIBRATION.MIELE RECOMENDS 1.50 PLYWOOD BASE SCREWED TO THE FLOOR (RAFTERS).I WISH ABT HAD TOLD ME THIS BEFORE I HAD THE DELIVERY ARRIVE. I COMPLETELY RETILED THE LAUNDRY ROOM.ANYWAY,I SCREWED DOWN 3/4" PLYWOOD TO THE FLOOR.THIS HELPED A LITTLE,BUT NOT MUCH.IT JUST LOOKS SO HOKEY! SO I WENT DOWNSTAIRS TO MY UNFINISHED BASEMENT.I USED LIQUID NAILS TO GLUE UP SOME 3/4 PLYWOOD UNDER THE FLOOR TO REINFORCE IT.THAT AND I NAILED UP SOME CROSS BRACES.BACK UPSTAIRS I STUCK A PIECE OF FOAM PADDING BETWEEN THE DRYER AND WASHER. AND YOU KNOW WHAT?IT IS A LOT BETTER. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE PAIR OF MIELES. NO MORE SHAKING.THAT WAS MY ONLY ISSUE.THESE THINGS ARE WORTH THE MONEY. YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH LAUNDRY YOU CAN SHOVE IN THE MIELE! WELL WORTH THE MONEY.

This machine is quiet until it gets to the spin mode at the end. Then it shakes our house! It may be worse since it is located on our 2nd flr, but it is like a jet taking off. They offer classes on this machine and I want to sign up for one to fully understand how all the cycles function. My other comment is that the cycles are much longer than my older top loading washer (around 1 hr - 2 hr). I like it because it is very energy efficient and the clothes do get very clean and they offer lots of options (sanitize, handwash, extra rinse, etc). Overall I like it, but I would not recommend it to a friend because it is too pricey.

One word-"Honey Comb Drum"

First of all, I disagree with the reviewer from Florida that this washer is noisy.In fact,this washer is so quiet that even baby can sleep all day and night long.For quietness, its need to be installed right ,possibly, on a tile floor and well balanced. That said,this washer is also extremely energy efficient. It extracts alomst 98% of water from your clothes. It does excellent job on delicates like wool and silk.It has settings which are easy to set and I like the status bar of your washer's duration cyles. In addition, I also own this washer's identical "twin" dryer-T9820(gas).Although,this dryer is a bit louder than its washer companion.But it is equaly energy efficient as washer because most of the moisture removal from clothes is already done by washer.Drying time are far less than its nearest competitor. Finally, this pair is really pricey, but over the time( in about 3 to 4 years) they will pay for themselves for the extra money you pay upfront. P.S. The stainless steel honeycomb drums on both machines is a real plus . Your expensive clothings is well preserved for a long time in future because of honeycomb drum in washer- thus saving you money for not replacing your wardrobe as frequent. If anybody can afford this pair,they should definitly consider these two machines from MIELE. They are worth every penny.

This is a top of the line machine. The installer, who installs various brands, said this was the most rigid, heaviest machine he had ever installed. The prior reviewer said it was loud. That is NOT true. However, the review is correct that the matching dryer is very loud.

The dealers aren't knowledgeable about product. Very hard time getting product delivered & installed. I wish I had purchased another brand. Both washer & dryer so loud that it can be heard all through the house with the laundry room door closed! Dryer is very limited in settings.
