This is NOT a region free DVD player. It does not respond to any of the codes recommended to make this player region free.

The info you can find on the Internet enables you to overcome Region Code troubles. Make sure to find info for the 224ss, or whatever specific model you have.

This DVD player will play all of the different formats (+/- r & more), which many name brands will not. I throw away a brand new Toshiba because it would not play -r recorded DVDs. Plus is it small.

I purchased this product for work, as we have training DVD's to show our staff. Thus far, it has been perfect. However, we do not need to play it more than twice a month, which is why I decided not to go with a top brand, and there have been no problems in performance of the machine. My only issue is with the remote control options being a bit insufficient, but frankly, in the world of universal remotes, who cares.
