Just replaced our older Sharp model micro with this new GE JVM1540. After reading the reviews I was concerned about the noise level, but I have to say this micro is soooo much quieter than my old one. The vent fan is quiet as well as during the cooking process. The control panel was easy to learn, I didnt even need to read the manual. We defrosted meat and it came out perfect. Installation was easy. Read the manual about changing the vent from "recycling" the air to outside venting (if you have an direct vent to the outside)..we almost missed this option. So far so good. The only down side is the door design. The curved front looks a bit out of place against the straight line of the cabinets. But I can get used to that.

Owned for almost two years. finish is not durable, and unit failed, "control panel" needed replacement. For a top-line product to fail with moderate use in less than two year is unacceptable. Naturally, the five year warranty does not cover the control system.

Nice microwave faulty control panel
I bought the whole GE Cafe package for my kitchen in 2011. Was very happy till my control panel went out on my microwave. After reading other people's experience with GE I was not optimistic. I called GE's consumer advocate number in hope's they might replace the panel at no cost. To my surprise they are replacing the microwave installing the new one and taking the old one away at no charge. My model #CVM2072SM3SS GE's consumer advocate #1-800-386-1215 They have a replacement program for certain models. It restored my faith in GE had they not at least replaced my control panel I would have never bought another GE appliance but I will have no issue buying one in the future.

I bought this model about 3 years ago. Had problems with the touch screen after a years time. Two yeas after that the screen doesn't respond at all. I hope that's why GE doesn't make this model anymore. I expected more from GE and will look to buy a different brand Microwave brand in the future. To have a GE tech come to the house, diagnose and fix the problem is 100's of dollars. I've already wasted enough buyig this GE microwave.
Great customer service to replace after problem
We bought this model microwave 4 years ago and experienced a touchpad failure, an apparent known defect in the model when it is placed over a range. We called GE customer service to report the malfunction and received prompt and very courteous attention (the representative even called me back when my cell phone disconnected us). She told us that GE has a program to replace these microwaves because of the known defect within the first 5 years and put in a request for us. We had a new microwave installed two days later, a similar CafÃ© model, but without the touchpad. We are extremely pleased that GE stands behind their products and will continue to give them our business.

Key pad stops working
It was a good microwave until the keypad stoped working. I would not buy this again.

Love the look of this microwave...so easy to keep clean but it lasted only 3 years and the keypad went out Fortunately they don't make them anymore but it's really sad because this could have been an awesome microwave. I would have highly recommended it otherwise. Too bad for you GE.

It never worked well to begin with. I had a counter top GE microwave that was a workhorse. I gave it away to someone in perfect condition after using it for over 10 years. This one is another story. First time I saw the display of shorted keypad, I spoke to someone in GE and I did as they told me and it worked. Now it has been unplugged for so long, almost a week and I check at least once a day to see if it might work, but no luck. I think it's gone. A pity because it's less than 4 years.

I loved the microwave until the touch pad stopped working after 4 years. I contacted GE and was very happy with the resolution. I would buy GE products again.

I have had 2 of these and both Quit working! One was in my new home and lasted 10 years, and I replaced it with another, It only lasted 2 years
