Signal is OK. Not bad but its not great either. Often I have to push button several times to get a response. Other times it works first time. I'd give it a 8 out of 10. I'm using it about 60 feet from the DVR in another room.

It works great, the buttons are back lit, and the RF feature is a must have for those that keep their receiver in an entertainment center. It's a bit pricey though for a remote that DirecTV really should be including as standard equipment with their HD receivers.

I bought this remote for TV viewing in the basement. At first it didn't seem to have the range capability necessary. I changed the batteries from the generic ones shipped with the remote to ever-ready batteries and instead of the antenna included with the package, I inserted a 12" RG6 cable wire, with the ends stripped down, into the antenna slot of the box. I now have the ability to control the DirecTV box from the furthest room in the basement without having to walk out into the hallway.
