Wow, where do I start. First off this is a sleek energy efficient compact washer dryer combo. It does not require ventilation and operates using only on 120 volts. The washer offers multiple spin cycles, numerous levels of dirtiness and washing modes as does the dryer. It uses HE detergents; however, this machine is not designed for large loads, multiple loads and fast washing and drying times. For me the average time per load of clothes from start to finish was 3.5 hours. I started to wash 4 medium loads of clothes ten minutes before 2 pm and when I went to bed at 11:00 pm , I still had one load drying and did I mention this, I was using two of these machines, not one. Normally, LG produces a great product, but they fall short on this machine. Drying times are hours and the clothes are very damp and wet when removed, if you can remove them. There is a child safety device on this machine that prevents you from opening the door when in use. Even in the CD (cool down) mode, which can take hours, the door will not open. I had to unplug the machine and plug it again to rescue my clothes. I was given the code to unlock the machine but did not have any luck using it.

When talking about my beloved washer/dryer with others, I often borrow the phrase from CrockPot fame - "set it and forget it." I'm a working mom who, before getting this machine, dreaded going to the laundromat. It's no hyperbole to say that my quality of life has improved just by having this lovely machine in my life. Before leaving in the morning, I throw a load of clothes in with some soap. When I come home in the evening, they are washed and ready to fold! A note: do not overload the machine or you will get a lot of wrinkles.

This washer/dryer fit the bill perfectly. I bought it for my Mom who is handicapped and had it installed upstairs so I don't have to worry about her going downstairs to use the washer and dryer. After going through the procedures several times with her (she's 88 years old) she can now use it herself to wash her clothes while I can take care of the heavy stuff downstairs. At least I don't have to worry about finding her in a crumpled heap at the bottom of the stairs!

We bought this to fit where the dishwasher was in our small kitchen [- size is relative, we are from Europe and a kitchen this size would have been a dream kitchen in most European apartments - ]. It was very difficult to find someone to install it, although it turns out, installation is the easiest thing! If you already have the water line coming into the kitchen floor for the dishwasher, or if the dishwasher is connected to the water line of the sink faucet, then you can use that one. We finally got an installer who was not afraid to ... read the instructions (!!!!) that came with the unit and he installed it. Best electric appliance we ever used! It is so quiet that you totally forget the laundry getting done. When the cycle ends there is a pleasant bell sound. We often get startled by it because we forget we are having laundry done. It is very easy to set it, the programs are self explanatory and you can mix-n-match - i.e. determine the way you want the machine to handle your wash and dry. The wash comes out much dryer than it did from our full size top loader american machine and we often skip the drying and just hang the clothes up for a short while. This way they better retain the awesome smell of the fabric softener (personal preference, of course). The drying can be arduous as a full cycle can last over 3 hours. But we found the clothes to be awfully dry after an actual cycle and now we only run the dryer for 30 min segments. I need to explain that although very dry, there is a certain dampness on the clothes when you take them out, a dampness always presents in non-vented dryers, which is a very good thing because this prevents the clothes from shrinking and keeps them from wrinkling. We shake, stretch and hang the clothes for short time after taking them out of the dryer and they look like new! Sort of like clothes steamed instead of ironed. The machine is sitting on the sub-flooring anchored in by the floating floor. We did not notice any leakage, as another reviewer commented, but although there is only a crawl basement under the kitchen, I think it is a good idea to sit it on a drain pan and I will make sure I get one. I think it is a splendid idea to have a drain pan if the machine is in an apartment above another apartment/living space to prevent damage below. Although it is not rated extremely high on the energy efficiency spreadsheet, it is star rated and per its rating guide it would spend about $21 of electricity a year if you were to use it for... 8 loads a week, every week!!! -- I can't imagine that happening, but I guess folks with kids may run into that... The design of this w/d is soooo beautiful! I much prefer it to the new one that replaced it, to a point where we had to dig for THIS model when we needed a second machine (for another place) although it was already discontinued.... This design is very 'mid-mod' - "modern" - i.e., sort of late 1950's to early 1970's, with its chrome accents juxtaposed on the white enamel and the bold chrome knob (program setting) flanked by the two start buttons, while the other five white buttons with their corresponding orange lights adding a hint of gold hue, are very pleasing to the eye and deflate the effect of the black digital panel. Did I say I bought two?... I would definitely look for the same machine if I needed another one.

This is the greatest machine ever. I am learning when to remove the clothes for less wrinkles. Normally they come out damp which is perfect, if I leave them sit they dry and then may need some touch-up. It is so quiet you forget that it is actually running. It requires that you actually read the instructions and follow them, results GREAT.

I had an Equator, which was terrible, and the company was bankrupt so getting any kind of service from them was difficult. We were in the market for a new combo unit. My friend recommended this one, which she said she loves. I read the other reviews, and disagree about the wrinkling and poor drying! If I put in a small load and set the dryer for 1hr, my clothes come out as though they came out of a regular dryer. Having said that, I usually use the Speed Wash setting (30min-ish) and then hang dry my clothes on a clothes rack I installed on my wall. If I want my towels to be soft, I set them to dry for 10-15 mins before hanging them. I agree that waiting for the door to open after the dry cycle is a pain, but since I rarely use the dryer, it's not as much of an issue for me. I love the fact that my unit does NOT shake, and it does stay in place. It's so quiet, I love it! My only problem now is that the control panel is slightly frozen. I need to call a technician this week. But, since I've owned my unit for well over a year, I'm not surprised I have to call for something!

This model has huge amount of features, some of which I'm still discovering. I love the all the add ons you can do as part of a wash cycle, you can really tailor it to your specific laundry needs. I've adjusted my habits to size of load, keeping like fabrics together etc. and have no issues with the amount of time it takes for a load from start to finish. However. The design of the unit makes it hard for me to clean built up link myself. There is just no easy way for an untrained person such as myself to disassemble things and get to the vent portion where lint can back up. That's where the drawback comes in. I don't mind having to call a technician to come maybe once a year or so but overall I wish I didn't have to. That's where it loses it's value since I should only have to call a technician for bigger problems than lint build up from day to day use.
