Recommended for anyone handy with tools.
By Ken from Rutledge, GA on 11/2/2009.
Pros: Good Power
Describe Yourself: Movie Enthusiast, Audiophile, Practical
Cons: No instructions
Best Uses: Older Turntable
No instructions, but after tinkering with it I found and removed the two screws that hold the cover on. Battery goes inside. Once that was done, the item worked fine. Very small amount of distortion on some very high notes, probably because there's no "de-emphasis circuit" (as I remember it being called), but otherwise sounds goood.
Works great!
By Baracuda from Portland, OR on 05/27/2009.
Best Uses: Basic Systems
Pros: Easy To Set Up

This pre-amp works great! I no longer need a separate receiver and speakers just to operate my turntable. Saves a lot of space!

Nice, transparent sound. Works perfectly!
Simple and it works
By Bill from Seattle on 01/5/2009.
:
Watch out for the on/off switch. It is unmarked and you need to make your own on/off marks. If you leave it on for long periods, you will have to replace the battery. If you use an external power adapter, watch out for hum.
Please note, this works by batteries
By Tim in Silver Spring from Silver Spring, MD on 05/15/2008.
Cons: Battery powered
Pros: Easy To Set Up
Best Uses: Home Theater
Describe Yourself: Musically Inclined
My only criticism of this pre-amp is that I didn't read the description closely enough. It is battery operated. It does have a connection for DC power, but you have to buy your own power adapter. On the positive end, set up is extremely easy and it works!
Saved space in my home theater setup!
By Nate from chicago, il on 04/14/2008.
Best Uses: Basic Systems
Pros: Easy To Set Up
Describe Yourself: Musically Inclined, Practical, Tech Savvy
Cons: No included AC Adapter
Simple, small effective unit replaced my old amplifier I kept around only for the phono pre-amp. Yeah, this requires a 9V battery, but it does remove 350W from my ancient wiring.
solid product; good value
By Bill from Racine on 02/18/2008.

Describe Yourself: Practical
Surprised it needed batteries
I would buy this product again and again

Does what it says at a great price!
By The Humanist Rev, D.D. from Skaneateles, NY on 11/15/2007.
Best Uses: Audiophiles, Basic Systems
Pros: No external power suply, No audio cables supplied, Can supply your own power, Clean Sound, Easy To Set Up, Durable, Battery power
Describe Yourself: Tech Savvy
Put the 9V. battery, connect the preamp between the turntable (know what that is?) and the PC using a "y" connector with 2 RCA's and a 3.5mm banana jack a the other (extra accessory cable), launch "Audacity" (free at http://audacity.sourceforge.net) and you are cooking. So simple, even I can do it... The sound quality is good but bear in mind that it will not make a worn LP sound new, and that I could not pass for a true audiophile.
This product works!!
By Kevin from Seattle,WA on 11/12/2007.
Describe Yourself: Audiophile, Musically Inclined
Best Uses: Basic Systems, Receivers without phono, Audiophiles
Cons: Battery operated
Pros: Product works great, Easy To Set Up, At a great price
The receiver I have doesn't have hook ups for a turntable. The product worked so well, that I bought another for my sons room!!
A phono input at low cost
By Big Sky Guy from Butte, MT on 09/21/2007.
Best Uses: Audiophiles
Pros: Easy To Set Up
Cons: Limited Functions
Describe Yourself: Practical, Musically Inclined
Seems like GE is unaware of their own product...not on their website, no tech sheets supplied to vendor. If you miss the tiny on/off switch, you may think it doesn't work, but it does, at about the same level as a built-in pre-amp.
So-so product [...]
By Music Nostalgia from Warren, RI on 09/11/2007.

Best Uses: Basic Systems, Home Theater
Pros: Clean Sound, Easy To Set Up

I needed a small preamp to allow my turntable to work on a home theater system. This unit works great and I now can play my old albums. Only drawback, I found my old music isn't as great as I remembered!
I would purchase one again if needed
By fanman from Illinois on 08/7/2007.
Best Uses: Larger Rooms
Describe Yourself: Practical
Pros: works great, Easy To Set Up
product very simple but works perfect. the price was quite reasonable. the only fault I found is you have to remember to turn switch off to save battery life
Just what I needed to listen my LP's !
By Sondor from Alpharetta, Georgia on 08/2/2007.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Good Power, Clean Sound
Best Uses: Home Theater
Describe Yourself: Technically Challenged
After changing my receiver/amplifier I can't play my old LP records. This device is just what I was looking for.
Great performance for the money
By The Dentist from McAlester, OK on 07/23/2007.
Pros: Durable, Value
Cons: None
This is a simple device that allows you to play your old vinyl albums on a receiver that doesn't have a pre-amplifier or a phono function. It works. It's inexpensive.
