Convection Cooking and Microwave Capability

We were replacing a built-in combo and the KitchenAid has a nicely integrated control panel for both ovens, making it the best looking of the pack. It's our first fan convection oven. Also our first digital control panel. The controls automatically compensate for the convection fan by adjusting the "normal" time and temperature - bread baking takes a bit of practice. The microwave is quite handy, once we discovered the one-touch feature. The re-heat function asks too many questions, but when it finally goes to work it does a great job.

This oven takes 20 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees. My oven that was replaced only took 10 minutes. Also, the Microwave light was "burned out" according to the repair technician. Do yourself a favor, stay with a well-proven manufacturer like General Electric as KitchenAid (Whirlpool) is quite inferior. I also purchased a matching dishwasher that requires servicing (rinse aid low-level light remains on). Stay away from KitchenAid/Whirlpool products.

I bought this unit because it looked so good in the show room. I like the idea to have a microwave and oven on top. The unit fit perfectly into the old space. This unit makes my kitchen looks smart.

Very dissappointed because almost a year after purchasing, the mother board went out on it. We had it replaced at no charge, but I though KitchenAid was better than that and we should have been inconvenienced with wait to have it fixed.

Comments about Kitchenaid White Architect Series II 27" Built In Combination Oven:

The oven took over 20 minutes to get to 350 degrees. At some point during the preheating an exhaust fan came on blowing very hot air into the room We had it on for another hour at 350. The fan continued to exhaust hot air into the kitchen for another 30 minutes after that. You can feel the air blowing out about 4 feet from the oven And the vent is at the top of the door and it gets too hot to touch. It probably raised the temperature of the kitchen by 10 degrees. This is not satisfactory and will be returning the oven tomorrow. We just discovered that the Internet has similar stories.

We replaced our 15 year old micro/oven combo with this beautiful piece. I am enjoying the convection cooking, which quickens the cooking process. Doesn't seem to work well on cakes, though. Still learning how to use the convection on the microwave, just never have enough time to read all the directions! Overall very happy with it. Cleans and cooks well. Takes a really long time to heat up and cool down, so doesn't seem energy efficient.

                        Service and delivery comments:

Prompt delivery. We bought from out of state and were nervous about buying appliances online, but would definitely buy from ABT again. The delivery company called ahead and let me check it before they left. They were very courteous.

It is so hard to find a nice 27" double oven w/ a microwave in it. Once I found this baby, I purchased the rest of my appliances around it for our kitchen appliance upgrade. I've had it for 3 weeks now and love it more each day. The install was super easy. The buttons are wonderful. I can tell there is a lot of good cooking features, but I only use the simple ones. I would highly recommend!
