The oven is a nice looking product, and was very easy to install. So far, it has performed well although it seems to take a while to preheat. Only problem so far has been the oven door glass pack shattered after baking a meal. It was replaced by GE under warranty, although that process took over two weeks. I'm concerned this will happen again, although I was assured this was not a common problem. We'll see....

The third time that we used the oven the oven glass changed to a rainbow color. I called GE and they said that this was normal because of the coating that they put on the glass. The more you use the oven the rainbow color gets worse. This is not acceptable to me. The oven glass should remain clear. Nowhere in the oven manual does it say the glass will change to a rainbow color. We were not told my the saleman when we purchased the oven that the glass would change to a rainbow color. I feel that this is a defect in the oven glass and GE will not stand behind it. I will never purchase another GE product if they do not stand by their products.

Comments about GE 27" JKP30DPBB Black Built-In Single Wall Oven:
The look of the oven is wonderful, the function is wonderful --- it does not clean up well. The steam feature removes minimal.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My review for JK1000DFBB
I bought this item earlier this year and love it. I wasn't looking for anything super fancy or complicated and it is perfect.

What. No oven light!
from Gold Country, California
This unit replaced a 23 year old unit, so I'm hopeful that the reliability will be as good. However. Theres no switch to turn on the oven light. It does come on when you open the door, but for baking that's not adaquate.

I replaced a 40 year old oven. So I am delighted with all of the technology in this one. I've had to learn how to cook all over again!
Awesome Replacement Oven
from Roseville, CA, United States
I bought this oven over a month ago and love it! It replaced my original GE wall oven dated back in the 60's!!! The only part I had to redo was the electrical outlet because it cracked when I took it out of the wall. Super easy to install and would highly recommend. I thought it would be difficult to replace because of the size and age of the unit but it fit right in!
Wish it had probe cooking feature.

I try to avoid cooking whenever possible, so I am not the best person to rate this.
Works well so far

I was replacing an old oven and limited by the size, and bought this one because it had pretty good reviews. I found essentially the same pros and cons as the other consumer reviews. Pros - it's easy to use, I like the delay cook feature and the timed cooking feature. Items bake pretty evenly. Cons - it takes a long time to heat up, about 15 minutes to reach 350 deg. The cooling fan runs for a long time even after the oven is turned off (over 45 minutes usually) and blows warm air into the room while the fan is on. This heats up the area which is pretty undesirable in the summer. There's nothing that can be done to turn the fan off manually, or to get it to shut itself off any sooner. Someone said opening the oven door shuts the fan off sooner, but then it seems you'd have the full heat of the inside of the oven spilling into the kitchen. But I guess yes, the oven would cool quicker with the oven door open, so yes, the cooling fan may turn off sooner. I've only had the oven for two months (since July) and minimized using it since it is summer and I didn't want the heat in the house. No reliability issues yet, but then again, i haven't used it enough to address its reliability.

What's UP with this: No oven light switch
from Glendale, AZ, United States
To my huge surprise when the new GE wall oven was installed, I noticed that there was NO light switch button on the panel. WHOEVER heard of an oven with NO light switch?! I am quite irked that GE cheesed down the basic oven in this way.
