Comments about Kitchenaid 42" Built-In French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:

The fridge looks great, but the drawers are small considering its a 42 in fridge and have had it for less than 4 years and its already acting up the over temperature sensor keeps blinking although it seems to be functioning so far. For the price of this fridge it should at least be free of problems for a while. My mom has had a ge for over 10 years and had never had a problem. Clearly disappointed.

Comments about Kitchenaid 42" Built-In French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:

Refrigerator plastic liner at the bottom of the main compartment (not the freezer) has developed multiple cracks and should be replaced. Is this a recurring issue and is this covered in the standard warranty? We have also noticed that when closing the doors (french), if the handle is released before the doors are completely shut, they close roughly with a loud bang. Beyond these two items, we are enjoying the refrigerator and its features. It is efficient and performs well.

I liked the idea of the french doors, but sometimes, the right one closes before the left and then it doesn't close all of the way. I do like the freezer on the bottom.

Comments about Kitchenaid 42" Built-In French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:

Firstly, I want to say I have been satisfied with Kitchenaid's customer service about this refrigerator, I simply think they have designed a product that has a very fundamental flaw: the door will automatically close from 90 degrees. This means that if you are in the refrigerator for more than 2-seconds the door will close on you. It also means that if you are putting away groceries, you either need to prop open the door with the deli-tray, hold the door with one hand and put away groceries with the other or constantly open the fridge door. Not practical choices in the least.
I owned a previous version of this fridge (2007) and the door did remain open at 90 degrees, so they clearly changed the design. In addition, after experiencing this door closing issue for a few days, I tested other French door refrigerators. The results are that every model and brand except low-end whirlpool products with in-door water/ice stays open at 90 degrees. Before considering this refrigerator, make sure your door can open to 130 degrees or look at another brand.
