Cleans well but not quiet

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We run our dishwasher about every other day and have had it for about six weeks. It cleans very well (when used with powder, as suggested) and really is the nicest looking machine out there. It also feels very sturdy. Nonetheless, it is not very quiet compared to others I have heard and is no better than the five-year old, $400 Amana it replaced. You can hear it in adjacent rooms, and it is bothersome when watching TV in the attached family room. Also, it lacks some features that similarly priced machines have such as a half-load cycle and variable delay start. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten the Bosch I was considering.

Quiet KitchenAid Quality

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

No rinsing needed with the soft food disposal. Plus this is the quietest KA dishwasher offered and our family can have enjoyable discussions in our kitchen with the dishwasher running!

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

We run a load every other day. This unit is great and is exactly what we were looking for. My dishwasher slot is located at the end of the counter area and on a hardwood floor, so there is nothing around it to insulate it and the noise carries. We opted to look at Kitchen-Aid & Bosch dishwashers for their low dB ratings. My parents have had 2 Kitchen-Aid dishawashers in their home since 1978. So I was partial to that. Plus with the self-clean filter, stainless appearance, third level utility rack. What is not to love?? I was just hard pressed to purchase a dishwasher over [$]. But, I will admit in this instance you do get what you pay for. Our kitchen has never sounded quieter. Oh and one more thing. I know that dishwashers are all about being integrated controls and what not. But I am so glad I have the display on the front. It tells you how much time is remaining in the load, if it is clean, sanitized or controls locked. Without this how else would you know. Wonderful machine.
