Here is how to use the shield with good results: (1) Make sure the shield is compatible with your bowl. (2) Mix in dry ingredients on LOW speed. It will keep the flour from flying out of the bowl. (3) Pour liquids slowly, hitting the spout on the shield. It will flow down to the sides of the bowl. This is especially convenient for incorporating sugar water into egg whites. I love my shield and use it every time I use the mixer. I have had my setup for over 24 years and have made over 1,000 cakes with it. I am a very messy cook and the shield has been a lifesaver.

A few months ago i purchase a Kitchen stand mixer. it came with a glass bowl. After several uses i decided that i wanted the pouring shield to stop the flour and other dry ingredients from flying out of the bowl. When i went to purchase this shield i found that it dose not fit on a glass bowl, which forced me to buy a new stainless steel bowl to use with my mixer. Today as I used the pouring shield for the first time i discovered the shield does not work at all. In fact it made a bigger mess then would have without the shield. I have come to the conclusion that the pouring shield is a cheap and poorly made product that is way over priced and i complete waste of money. From this product to work right, Kitchen Aid needs to make it fit tightly and securely to the bowl. as make it a complete circle instead of partial circle.

Comments about KitchenAid Mixer Stand Pouring Shield:
It still does not prevent flour or powdered sugar from being sprayed over my counter and floor.

I'm not sure why Kitchen-Aid even bothers making this anymore. It is an absolute failure in what it is supposed to do. It doesn't fit on the bowl right, and it comes off with the slightest touch. If you try to pour flour down the chute, you have to hold the other side, so it doesn't come off. All they would have to do is redesign it to fit snugly, or better yet, snap on. How difficult is that.To anyone looking to purchase this piece, don't waste your money. I LOVE my mixer, but not this piece.
The pouring sheild is a terrible design I wish I had of checked the reviews on this product befor I purchased it it doesn't stay on the bowl at all just laying it on the bowl it tips and falls off it was a total waste of money.
I just bought one and it is a terrible design. Doesn't even fit within my bowl and when I do pry it into the bowl it immediately pops out. Wish I would have read the reviews before buying. #veryupset
Flimsy and not worth the money
from Buffalo, NY
If I could rate this "0", I would. Purchased for my KSM95 thinking that it would help keep my kitchen tidier and allow me to bake faster. There is no chance of that happening because it does not snap in place as expected and is uneven or warped. If I hold it in place, it would stay but who can do that while running a busy kitchen? As soon as you stop holding it in place or accidentally move or bump it, one side lifts off of the mixer. Please read this review and save yourself both disappointment and the hassle of having to return this to the merchant. I'm very disappointed. I paid so much for this mixer; it would be nice if the bowl were deeper or the pouring shield actually fit to keep ingredients from flying around the kitchen like pixie dust.

Difficult to Use
from Worcester, MA
I bought the pour shield before Christmas hoping that it would be helpful for my holiday baking. When it arrived, I looked for helpful directions as to how to attach the shield to the mixing bowl. There were none. There was a picture on the box of what it is supposed to look like, and that was all. When I attached the pour shield to the bowl it did not stay in place. It flew off the bowl and left me with a mess. I wish I hadn't bought it. It seems like a waste of good money.

Does not fit well. Pops off when mixing. Useless.

I wish I could give this zero stars. It does not fit properly. When used, it pops off the bowl and rattles. Each time I use the mixer, I try to use this shield and end up getting completely frustrated and disenchanted with the product.
Terrible Product Design

I am a hobbyist baker and was excited to receive the KitchenAid Stand mixer. It is great. However, I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased the plastic pouring shield. It simply does not work. It doesn't fit right and causes more of a problem with flour going everywhere than it solves. I am highly disappointed that I wasted my money on this attachment.
