The door has always been difficult to close due to the door latch design since the day we bought it. Eventually, it got to the point that you needed to slam it closed 3-4 times to get it to latch properly and run. I give up. It's going in the trash. This is the shortest lived microwave we've ever owned. Very disappointed in this product.

I replaced a Sears Kenmore microwave of similar power and capacity. The Kenmore was damaged by lightning or I'd still have it. I bought this one because it was large, had the right power and similar controls. I was prepared to really like this appliance. I liked the inverter power control. I liked the way it looked. It had good reviews. I have to say that I've been disappointed. The microwave oven has some missing features and it has one really fatal flaw that, had I been aware of it, I would not have purchased this oven.
1. The fatal flaw is that you can't see inside of the oven when it is cooking. Period. The tiny useless light is so dim that unless your kitchen is in complete darkness you can't see inside. You will over cook, boil over and burn more things than you ever imagined you would because you can't see inside of the oven.
2. My old oven used a rotating device to evenly distribute the microwave energy inside of the oven. When you need to cook in a large rectangular dish you can turn off the rotating tray and the oven still cooks evenly. This oven lacks that feature, using instead the cheap cardboard window for the microwaves that the lowest quality ovens use. It is totally dependent on the rotating tray to evenly heat the food. This reduces the useful capacity of the oven significantly.
3. You can't turn off the tray. If you want to cook in a rectangular dish the tray is just going to go back and forth while trying to rotate. Your food is going to cook unevenly. Be warned.
4. The tray is not as stable as it should be. It is large but the supporting ring is small. The tray tips easily. If it had been recessed into the bottom as was my old one, then this would not be an issue but it isn't.
In the end I'm very disappointed in this "top of the line" Panasonic product. If you are a casual cook or only use a microwave to reheat things then this oven will be ok. If you cook a lot then you'll be very disappointed in this oven.

Not built like my old Litton that I gave up after 30 years. My last Panasonic was very similar to this and only lasted about 7 years. This seems to be a better unit than competitors' units of similar size.

I formerly had a GE micro and loved it. After 17 years, I had to retire it and only this micro fit the built in space. The GE had a rack which I loved and without the round turntable, much more capacity. Also more stable. I don't like the timer dial on this micro and the read- out is difficult to see unless at the right angle. This micro is attractive but the trim kit sticks out from the cabinet 1" all the way around. Not flush, so more surfaces to clean. Once the trim kit is on, there are nooks and crannies everywhere that will be a cleaning nightmare. Ladies, get out the Q tips. This is not an appliance that you will be able to just wipe down. I don't think I would have purchased this if I could have gotten something else that fit the space.

I use the wave for 3 main functions: defrosting, reheating and cooking fresh vegetables. All of the features work well. However, because there is no key pad, cooking times selections are limited. After the first 10 seconds, you get multiples of five and then multiples of 15 seconds. I can live with that based on the way it has performed so far. I bought this to replace a previous model, same brand that lasted for 9 years.

This oven (2.2 cubic feet) exceeds my expectations. Reviewed several models. My husband has poor eyesight and had difficulty reading the panel of other micros. NOT anymore. I am a retired home economist who has used a lot of micros.
Pro's-EASY to read. Menu selection is easy to understand. Quiet as can be. I like the option of "quick minute" cooking and invertor defrost. This is new and not offered in retail stores near home.

Con"s-I haven't found any yet.
