GE Profile Spacemaker II Black Microwave Oven - PEM31DMBB

Abt is excellent: fast service and well packed Now for the microwave. Its dimensions are 1/2" deeper than GE states, so it sticks out further than I had hoped. Its template is not to scale so it is useless; you must measure twice before drilling holes. Cannot turn off its cycle finish warning. It is loud enough for me to know when it stops I don't need a beep. Door must be closed very tight for it to work or turn off; you can close the door part way and it latches but still isn't closed all the way. Finally: it is the best designed microwave to fit under a cabinet so I am glad that GE makes this model.

REPLACED GE UNIT I HAVE USED FOR 18 YEARS, NEW UNIT NOT THE QUALITY OF NEW UNIT, CHEAP, CHEAP.

DO NOT BUY THIS- Door will not open, the button when pushed will not release. We ultimately returned the unit. GE should be ashamed. Another product produced overseas, this product sullied a once sound brand.

Second one in a year. GE didn't honor warranty that expired by one week. The replacement seems to be poor quality as well, but its the only one that fits into the space I have.

I and happy with my microwave. However, when the microwave arrived it did not work. So I had to send it back to get another one. The microwave looks nice and fits conveniently under our cabinets, which was the main reason we switched to this microwave from a previous 2.0 capacity GE Profile. Overall, it works well despite some initial problems with faulty trim.

Looks great with trim kit to give a custom built in look!

This microwave has a very small interior compared to its predecessor which was as wide but much deeper. The trim kit that I bought from you just barely fits the microwave..many of the screw holes were just a "little" off, making it difficult to install. The engineer who designed it and the manufacturer who made it must have been laughing all the way to the loading dock. Not so much here.

This unit replaces an older but similar GE microwave oven because this line is the only one in a size that will fit our cabinetry. The new oven is significantly quieter than the older one. Lets see if I get the same 10 years of service out of it.

Performs all of the basics well and runs quietly.

We had a GE over the stove in the last place we lived. This is a great microwave.

This microwave fits nneatly under a 24" wide cabinet, saving counter space. It is sleek and surprisingly pwerful for its size, and controls are easy to read and use. Installation is tricky, especially given the confusing instructions which left my handyman scratching his head. But once it is in, it works reliably and well to reheat leftovers, defrost small dinners or frozen foods. Cooks evenly and quickly. Replaces my 25 year old Spacemaker, which still works perfectly but is going to the country kitchen. GE reliability is unmatched.

The product fits our needs. We bought it to replace a built-in, so its width was important to fill the space. Although the capacity is rather limited, its efficiency is undeniable. I also love the quietness during use.

This item is easy to use but not as powerful as I expected.

Have a JEM model (one gen back) for 5 yrs... exterior is a little different but the inside is identical. Occassional use for defrost, bake potato and Use it daily to heat 4 cups of water for tea (takes 8 minutes...its only 800wts) but in the last yr we have had to add one or two minutes more. Also what's with the little indented cieling piece.. ours is starting to burn off around the circumfrence(this cannot be good, Maybe five yrs is all we can expect from a micro wave. my folks still have their 20 yr old Tapan.

This is my 2nd spacemaker. The first one didn't have a turntable. This does plus a couple other features like the delay, child lock & help. I really like the 1st one I bought, which I still use at work, and was glad to see a turntable and timer but I think GE could have done better on the quality of construction.

The first microwave I recieved was faulty - the light would stay on when I closed the door and sometimes the microwave would turn on when the door was closed...kinda scary. [...] the new microwave works very well. I had to use spacers on top of the microwave so that it would be flush with the bottom of the cabinet but other than that installation was pretty easy.

i use it to warm food and to heat coffee, also to cook on occasions.

Ideal for long rectangular dishes to cook casseroles. Slim line design allows unit to fit nicely on a counter top without taking up too much space.

Great spacesaver

We were looking for a replacement for our old Spacemaker II, which died after 10 years. The Profile Spacemaker II fit perfectly. We were even able to use the same mounting holes. The unit works great and has a turntable, which the old one did not. [...]

Fits into my overhead shelf

This was a replacement for the same model purchased in the 1990s. Need to fit into the same spot and bracket. I was very happy that everything lined up and fit perfectly. The newer model has many more features and seems more powerful. The updated controls seem a bit more complicated than the earlier model, but again there are more features. Very happy overall

I have a large family and need all the counter space I can get. This is perfect for what I need it for. I usually don't cook in microwave. I make most foods on the stove, but it is great for thawing, reheating and preparing last minute vegetables, if I don't have time. I would recommend this to anyone who does not need a large microwave. It actually has a large space for cooking - compared to others I have seen

Replacement for old Microwave.

I don't defrost whole hams or chickens, so the intermittent power defrosting works fine. We have one of these at work which gets 10 times the use mine will, and it is 10 months old or so.

This microwave replaces a GE PEM31 from 1997. The keypad and front surface is flat now, which makes for easier cleaning, and it's so much quieter! The kitchen cabinets were custom built to hold the microwave, and the new one fit perfectly in place without having to modify anything. The unit gets daily use several times daily, and I assume this will hold up as well as the original. It is gentle enough to soften butter and powerful enough to defrost flank steak or cook fish/multiple baked potatoes. It is a microwave that balances understated size/clean design with utility.

I chose this model primarily for it's size. I found that the microwaves I saw in the stores were either too little,or too big and bulky. This microwave is powerful, and can fit a dinner size dish without taking up too much space.

Great space saver

After 30 years of reliability, our first GE microwave died. We decided to buy this product as it was the closest in size and functions. It is far less noisy than "old faithful" and has more features for easier use. Only one bit of advice to the manufacturer and buyers: there should be a bigger warning to avoid the mistake of heating the oven with nothing in it as it can harm or permanently damage the oven. Other than that, we love it!

Had to step back to the basic JEM model after two of these PEM models failed to operate. First one would never shut off. GE Tech service attempted to reset computer, but that didn't work. Took it back and got another one. Second one worked for a couple of times and then quit entirely. Would not reset or show life of any kind.

ABT service is consistently outstanding. The 2-man crew removed my old built-in unit which had been gerrymandered to fit, and replaced with the new one which was ever-so-slightly larger. They made it work and the look is now much improved. Thank you ABT.

It's small but it will hold a large dinner plate which is as big as I needed. Easy to use.

Within 1 week of owning this microwave, the door started jamming the power, or when you shut the door the thing would auto start without pressing any buttons. Because of our space constraints, it seemed to be the only model that would fit and we owned an older version (which we liked) so we stuck with the brand. We had it exchanged for a new one right away.

We bought this unit to replace a 10-year old built-in model that is no longer made. It fit perfectly and used the same mounting screw holes, a real plus. Works great and is quieter than the old unit. Only complaint is that the end of cycle and reminder beeps cannot be turned off, as they could with the older unit.

The item is to small. I had to replace it within a few weeks because it had operational problems. [...] the second on I needed maintenance within a few weeks also. NOT HAPPY

I like it overall but the turntable is noisier than other microwaves I've owned. Very nice color & design.

The dark colored drive hub makes it much easier to center the turntable after cleaning or accidental bump.

This is a nice microwave for the space requirements in our remodeled kitchen, and the stainless steel finish is a good match for our other appliances. It is easy to use even before reading the manual and works very well. The under cabinet mounting kit was a waste of money as it contains parts for a variety of GE microwaves and only the 4 screws were useful(although I did use the template to mark the location for the holes). I still had to fabricate spacers to hang the unit properly and I expected them to be in the kit. So buy the microwave but not the overpriced and useless mounting kit.

IT'S A DUPLICATE OF ANOTHER GE MICROWAVE OVEN I NEEDED TO REPLACE.

this installed easily at our vacation house, and looks nice, but we had some comments from friends that the internal fan stayed on all the time, even when the microwave was not in use. I found that when I tapped the door up or down when shut the fan would turn off. we shouldn't have to do this. It results from cheezy construction. I'm getting ready to call GE to see what they will do about it. Not enthusiastic!

We bought this microwave to be installed in a kitchen cabinet. It is ideal for that purpose. The controls take a little getting used to, but overall, we love it.

We have only had this micro installed for almost 2 weeks. So far it's great. The mounting brackets, sold separately worked perfectly. Micro is great for small cabinet space areas.

I have a 20 yr old custom kitchen. The GE Spacesaver was built in my cabinetry. It was a wonderful microwave for 20 years! I was fortunate to find the Profile Spacesaver II that would fix exactly in my space without cabinetry modification. I'm adjusting to the differences and still prefer my old microwave at this point. Hope it lasts as long as the last one!

This item replaced the original GE SpaceMaker purchased about 20 years (yes 20 years) ago. If anyone out there has an old one and it's installed under your cabinets - you don't need a new installation kit - we used the old one it worked perfectly. The dimensions are exactly the same as the original model. Good job GE!

This item was purchased to replace an older "under the cabinet" microwave oven. The large capacity is suprising when you consider the sleek appearance of the exterior. One draw-back for me was the "under-the cabinet" mounting kit. The directions were not clear enough, but I'm not a mechanical type guy, however, I knew someone who was smater than I and it was installed without much problem. This product has done everything I asked it to do and I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I would even recommend this microwave to my ex- mother-in-law!!!!

This fits well into my compact kitchen. The directions for the undermounting kit were a bit difficult to understand, but once it was installed it is great! Nice stainless steel, compact 'spacesaver' design, sturdy build.

Microwave arrived quickly. Fits pefectly in the space I needed. Did arrive with a scratch on the front but not worth it to me to wait for a return.

I've had GE Spacemakers before and they are perfect for the limited under counter space that I have. I was able to install it in about ten minutes and spent little time reading the manual as the controls are basically intuitive.

I had used this product at work where it was heavily used. Therefore, I knew it was very durable. I needed a microwave that would fit in a small space, and this one fit the bill perfectly. The preset cooking times cook the food perfectly, i.e. fish, potatoes, popcorn, etc. You can also adjust the preset times to your personal preferences - I found them to be fine as delivered. If you are looking for a great microwave for a tight spot or mounting under the cabinet, this microwave is the one for you.

This is replacement for GE spacemaker that I had for over 20 years! I like the fact that it is compact and fits under my cupboard on hanger. It is not as powerful as some models, but suits my needs. This is more advanced in technology and has more features than my previous model. I only hope it gives me the same number of years in service.

Everything is excellent about the microwave except that to accommodate the trim kit, it has fewer watts than my former microwave. This is a small complaint however since it operates so well and is quiet, the controls are intuitive and it cooks evenly.

The microwave is perfect if you don t have a lot of space.

Not very powerful for a new microwave

A very good quality product though it's difficult to close and difficult to clean. Hangs well beneath my cabinet!!

Nicely designed; fits well without taking up too much space; reliable. I expected more power but have to use maximum time - sometimes a bit more - for frozen dinners to adequately heat.

When my other microwave oven stopped working, I became aware of just how much I use a microwave.

After pressing the start button, the microwave almost seems to take a while to get going: the sound builds up as if it is laboring to get there, but then it is fine.

I replaced a space-eating [...]Kenmore microwave with this little beauty. It's space efficient and performs beautifully. It's all I wanted in my newly remodeled kitchen. For a low wattage unit it heats quickly and evenly. I especially like the auto keys and the ease of use. I'm "over the moon" between the great service I received from ABT electronics and this little microwave.

Product looks and performs great. Have a high end kitchen with all stainless appliances. Using a countertop SS microwave detered from the kitchen. This new profile SS microwave looks wonderful mounted up off the counters. It makes the kitchen look great. And highlights the ovens next to it. Was replacing a very old under counter GE microwave. This model was the closest in size, but has many improved features. Easy to install, but I did not need the extra installation kit--in fact I found the template confusing. Under counter installation only takes 4 long screws. Have been using the microwave for a couple of weeks now, and am very happy with performance.

I've had one of these for over 8 years. Fits perfectly under the cabinets. Big enough for my needs of 6 member family, the tray rotates. This one died w/i 30 days of installation. It was replaced quickly but still it died. I love it.

Great features,we used the hanging kit it was a great way to save on counter space. I really can't say anything bad about this product, it is fast and effient and attractive.

This is a replacement for a 14 year old built-in GE Microwave that went to the Microwave graveyard. I love the sensors in the new oven. Put in some potato's, touch the potato button and it stops when they are done. Same goes for the reheat function. Touch the reheat and it stops when it's just right. I'm impressed

Looks great, is quiet, and does what a microwave should. I bought it because it can be mounted under a cabinet and therefore free up counter space. It is also the smalled unit that would still fit my dinner plates (~ 11.5"). Only con is the buttons are not layed out logically.. eg. the start button is in the middle of everything else.

Better than the former version of the Spacemaker with features that work quite well. It didn't come with a mounting kit, which should be included,not an extra. I wanted to save counter space and this unit makes it possible. It may require a little ingenuity to install,depending on the situation. Thus far,we are pleased with the choice,possibly the only one on the market.

I use this product for steeping my tea for iced tea, for thawing out frozen foods and my family loves it for cooking hot dogs. I love the fact that you can use the turntable, or you can turn it off.

I needed a microwave that would fit on a shelf with a specific height contraint, and only the GE profile and Monogram products worked.

did not heat, quickly corrected by servicing in home with GE tech.. Need to register on-line first,then repair cost is covered by warrenty.

I love how it takes up so little space. It has as much power as the full sized microwaves.

I live in a very small apartment without an oven, so I rely on my microwave to accomplish 75-80% of my cooking. This product does what I want, with minimum fuss. My only concern is that for anything more complicated than an express-cook setting I have to go and put on my reading glasses. I am sure I will eventually learn the touch pad by heart, but until then, it's a little extra step I have to take. Otherwise, A+.

Great microwave. It is an undercounter mount which still allows me all my counter space. 800 watts is all the power needed. Great sleek design. As black goes tho, it's a little tough keeping all the finger prints off. Perfect in a childless home!

The GE Profile Spacesaver solved my microwave problem. The cabinets in our house will not accomodate a microwave/hood combination over the stove, but I was tired of having a huge, old microwave taking up counter space. This microwave was easy to mount under a cabinet -- if you take your time and read the instructions thoroughly -- and it has freed up an amazing amount of counter space. It is smaller than my old microwave but more powerful, and it looks just great. I would agree with other reviewers that the start and cancel buttons could be more prominent, but maybe I'm just not used to them after only a couple of weeks. Great product, highly recommended.

I bought this Spacemaker II to replace the same model I have been using since 1991. I figured it was getting old, even though it still worked perfectly. The big difference between the old and new models is that they've replaced the glass plate with a turntable. They've also changed the arrangement of the keypads and increased the wattage from 650 to 800 and the interior from .8 cu. ft. to 1. The old model was far superior to the new. All of the new keypad buttons look alike, with the start button looking like any other. It cooks frozen food, boils water, and warms leftovers just fine as long as the turntable is on. If the turntable is off, the energy is concentrated in one place and burns the food. The standard popcorn bag is too long to fit on the turntable; the bag stops because the corners hit the door. If you try to pop with the turntable off, the corn burns without popping. I finally solved that problem by cutting off the corners from the bag first. I sent an e-mail to GE asking if the unit needed service because of the above issues. They replied for me to run a test heating 1 qt. of water in a 2-qt bowl for 2 1/2 minutes. The temperature increased by 42 degrees (a little over their standard of 28-40). According to GE, the unit is working as expected and does not require service. Their only suggestion was to try a different brand of popcorn. I loved my old unit, and am disappointed in this new model.

Our original GE Spacemaker II was 13 years old and on its last legs, in particular the inside of door was getting rusty. Then it stopped working entirely, so I ordered this as a replacement, whereupon my old one came to life again (after I unplugged it and plugged it in again!!). But we decided to keep the new one, which fits perfectly into the same space, and I didn't even have to order the installation screws just used the ones from the old GE microwave. The holes matched up perfectly. I took the plastic hole plugs from the new one and they fit right in the screw holes on the top of the old one, which we then donated to the local Boys & Girls Club. New one has a few nicer features including the turntable and reminder options. So far so good!

Wonderful unit loks and works great.

We had a late 1980s version of the GE Spacemaker microwave (1400 Watts) with minimal functions and no turntable. This unit cooks more quickly and evenly. The display panel is pretty intuitive for me, and it tells you in what order to push buttons for particular features. The sensor feature works great -- I just pop in leftovers, hit the Reheat button and everything is warmed perfectly. Delay Start and the Alarm are handy too. I haven't yet tried all the buttons designed for specific types of food. My only complaint is that the hole pattern for undercabinet mounting was different than the old model we had, but given that the old one lasted 20 years, I'm not really surprised. I've ordered the new mounting kit, which is readily available.

It looks and works better than I expected

I especially love the reheat button - you just push the button and the oven automatically goes until everything is warm. Also perfect popcorn.Purchased this oven to replace a similar 18 year old spacesaver. Mounting dimensions from the old to the new were slightly different so I had to drill new holes in the bottom of the cabinet. Other than that, perfect so far.Abt was awesome to work with. Great price[...] First place I'll look next appliance purchase.

This was one of the very few microwaves that would fit in the space we have. In fact, it was the only full size microwave I could find that fit a shallow shelf and would accommodate a 13" x 9" dish. It's easy to use, attractive and pretty quiet.

I needed a microwave to fit a microwave shelf in my new kitchen. It had to be a smaller model and this one fit perfetly. Although it was a little more expensive than others it is very attractive and I'm glad I purchased it. I use a microwave in a limited way - for reheating, defrosting, cooking oatmeal, and a few other things. So far I pleased with its performance.

I just recently renovate my small kitchen so using an under cabinets hanging will help a lot. However, I was kind of nervous with the idea but after reading many good feedbacks about this microwave I decided to purchase one.. and I love it .. it's very easy to hang with the hanging kit (also purchased from ABT) .. one thing to be aware of though if you hang under a cabinet that got sided by the other two cabinets on each side you might want to hang it a little more to the right because you'll have trouble open the microwave door. I wished they put this in the instruction but they didn't so we hang it using their template and couldn't open the door .. it stuck with the cabinet doors on the left so lesson learned :-) Other than that I am very happy with it [...] I am not even talking about the good prices that you can't find anywhere else.

I selected this product because I needed a microwave that I could install on a shelf in a cabinet. My primary goal was to free up counterspace. The stainless steel front goes very well with my double oven and other stainless front applicances. I purchased this product to replace a larger microwave I had purchased on the mid 80's. I trust the GE product line for performance, durability, and product life. This unit is much more attractive in my kitchen, runs quieter than my former model, and cooks foods more evenly, especially scrambled eggs. I am delighted with the cooking results I am experiencing with this new microwave.

Excellent Unit!

Not sure how quiet it actually is since I'm using it in a bedroom! Kitchen renovation still ongoing.....

It looks good. I think the price is to high for what it is. Not alot of power, compaired to my old one. I dont like that the start button is in the middle of the other buttons, I can never find it, should be at the bottom and much bigger,easy to find. It does look good and thats what I wanted.

I chose this unit as it was able to mount under my cabinets and save space on my countertop. The sensor works great, just push start and it knows how long to heat the food. Microwave is a little costly compared to others of similar size, but it works well.

We wanted a nice, under the cabinet mount microwave for our newly remodeled kitchen. This was just what we needed - right size, good looks, does what we need it to do, and fits well under the cabinets freeing up counter space. Make sure you get the optional mounting kit if you want to install it under a cabinet though!

We have little counter space, so an under the cabinet style microwave serves us well.

Fits perfectly under the kitchen cabinet and looks sleek and spectacular. Easy to use and highly recommended for small family or singles.

I perfer the older design with the tray instead of a turn table. The turn table makes it more difficult to defrost larger items.

We use this microwave every day - heating up leftovers, frozen dinners - just a ton of stuff!

I bought this product in order to have a microwave over the counter (in my case on a specially built shelf) as I hated our several tries with over the stove microwaves (where for example, grease vapor would interfere with the controls, handles would break, the vent fans are not great and replacing an over the range model is an expensive endeavor) but at the same time I did not want to lose counterspace. This microwave is very space efficient in its design and looks great. For example, the door was built so that the glass tray can extend slightly into the space that the glass of the door would otherwise occupy, meaning that the unit sticks out that much less. I have been using it about a week. The controls are great but the one improvement I would make is that the display would show the power level.

As a replacement for built-in, fit cabinetry perfectly. Perfect size, works great. Presets are right on. Had to enlarge hole for cord plug to run through.

This Spacemaker II replaced our old one. We were very happy with the first one - it died of old age (over 10 years)! The new Spacemaker II is the same size (key factor for us), it brings better design, improved features, and is more powerful. It's a great product!

I have a small built in space for a microwave and this fits perfectly and has loads of style and detail for such a small microwave. It matches my GE Profile double oven perfectly. Love it!!

We searched everywhere to find a microwave to fit where our old one did. We wasted a lot of gas. This is the newer version of our old oven, and it even fits the old brackets. I was leary of buying online, but I was thrilled with the service and prompt delivery. The only problem we've had with the oven is the popcorn setting. My daughter burned her popcorn. But we'll figure out how to time it. LOL. It does a better job of heating than the old one ever did, and the turntable makes it heat a lot more evenly. I like using the sensor because I don't have to guess about how long to heat stuff.

Had a 20+ year old unit that was custom fit in cabinets for the old GE micro. I am pleased they still make a unit that fits the rough in. It was easy to confirm the size on your or web site. Old unit did not have rotating tray - nice update.

This is our second Spacemaker oven. The first one lasted only 2 years. However, it is the only one on the market that fits our cabinet depth shelves. The oven works well and the on/off turntable is a very nice feature. It allows the use of larger items. The new design is also an improvement over the last one.

Product was exactly as specified and I would definitely use ABT again.

This micro is the best. It is plenty big for a family and saves a ton of space - especially with the undercounter mounting.

This is what I needed. It's stylish, compact and mounts under the cabinets, freeing up valuable counter space. One-touch controls save valuable nano-seconds!

I needed to find a good low profile space saving microwave. This was the perfect answer. It is powerful, has preset settings that actually work, and has instant express one touch buttons. This makes for faster times and less punching in numbers and settings. My tray seems wobbly but not unduly noisy. Otherwise, perfect!

Great design - largest turntable for counter depth. Also a con because it really is a little oven. And am no longer used to converting down to 800 watts. Wish it was a tad taller.

Reviews I read rated this as one of the better microwaves. It works well with reheating leftovers or defrosting frozen goods. Only drawbacks I have encountered: Excessive beeping with every function cannot be disabled, so no way to use it without making a racket. Part of the trim started coming undone even as I unpacked it from its well padded carton-- not enough to bother returning, but no wear should occur just taking it out of the box

Nearly exact replacement for our 20 year old GE Spacemaker which we had hung from kitchen cabinets to allow space to open the door over the top of plates and low cups.

Previous owned GE Spacemaker II microwave unit for 18 trouble free years (still works). Wanted to buy new unit with Stainless Steel finish. If new unit last half as long I will be very satisfied. Organization of control buttons and features are very familiar and just where I what them. Fit, finish, construction quality, and over all look are excellent. The option of easily (very easily) mounting unit under cabinet is another important advantage for me.

The new style on this microwave blends well with my other stainless steel appliances. I have this same microwave in black, but that look is dated. The keypad is easier to read, atleast for me.

This replaced a 20-year old Litton model that was on its last legs. Primary concern was fitting the new appliance into a small space and this worked perfectly for that. So far, it's performance is top-notch but it's still brand new. The real test is how well it works in six months, a year, five years or ten--the last half as long as my previous one. Only time will tell on that aspect.

Read some not so good review on the GE Spacemaker Microwave oven, but I am replacing my old GE Spacemaker(I think is about 20 yrs. old) in a custom build cabinet, and there are no other Microwave oven out there that will fit(or close) to this dimenisions, so far it is work very good, maybe the profile line from GE build better than the regular Spacemaker models.

Great upscale design easy to use the best microwave I've ever had.

I use it daily to defrost meats, heat dinner, cook vegetables, like squashes, bake potatoes and sweet potatoes. I make tea and coffee with it. Motivated to try steaming vegetables, and even cooking more complicated things... Fun to use. Great - 1. The timing for hot beverages, defrosting, reheating - I don't have to figure out how long to put it in for, with the specific buttons. 2. The text messages, like when defrosting "enter lbs" and "turn it over" when half-way through! It talks to you! 3. Ability to turn off the turn-table for larger dishes. 3. Baked potatoes are very evenly baked! 4. Clean look Not so great - 1. Start and Stop and Time buttons should be more prominent, maybe colored green, red, blue. Hard to locate in a hurry. 2. To enter timed-cook time - having to put in two zeros after minutes - old GE microwave had a "minute" button, could press "1" & "minute" - was faster, more convenient.

I needed a small, compact, easy to use microwave for casual use in den hospitality/bar area. This meets my needs especially with the under counter mounting kit.

Not very powerful...only 800W. Start and Stop button placement is counterintuitive-needs better separation from others. Quiet, handsome, and small. If you do a lot of "nuke-ing" and you can afford the loss of counter space go for a bigger countertop unit.

We bought this model to conserve our limited counter space. We easily installed it ourselves under a cabinet with the optional installation kit. It looks nice, is easily accessible, and, so far, has met all of our microwave cooking and reheating needs. The controls and cooking options seem too many and varied for our personal preference, though we are working though the learning curve. We noticed steam/water vapor emitting from the side vent and collecting on the wall when cooking a large sweet potato. While this appears to be normal, we hope it does not present a corrosion problem with long term use. This unit costs about $100 more than equivalent-power counter top models. Clearly, some of that additional cost results from beefing up the frame to hang from a cabinet, but the [$] premium seems a little high. This microwave oven does meet our space and cooking needs, and we are happy and satisfied with our purchase. Oh yes, the Abt ordering, packing, and shipping process was easy, speedy, and top notch!

I bought this microwave to replace another GE spacemaker that died after 5 years. Hopefully this will last longer. It might because the new one is lighter and quieter and seems more efficient. If size matters, this is the one. The one con is the price. GE knows there are no competitors so you pay. ABT had the best price.

I changed from a wall mounted Microwave to a countertop, so I was looking for something space efficient that looked nice and could hold a dinner plate to heat up leftovers. This matches my new oven, it works great, and fits perfect in the space I had. It is a bit loud, but otherwise, it is working good so far.

I needed this unit to hang under my cabinet. Not sure why the price is so high for such a small unit.

Have had two others like the model I purchased. each has lasted about 7 to 8 years. for the money you can't go wrong.

I like the design and the quiet performance. the best is that heat the meals evnly. I did not find out if has the option of warming a plate. If it does not have it that would be the only con.

Looks great in my updated kitchen and provides the options for preparing meals that are quick and properly cooked in minutes.

We bought this for its size only. There are plenty of less expensive microwaves out there but not this size. It has all the right features, is easy to use (are there some that aren't?), and time will tell if it lasts. It fits all the dishes I had been putting in my much larger unit except for my tall coffee cup.

After three weeks still has a strong "plastic" smell when cooking. While cooking squash, micro shut down completely for 30 minutes (no lights, etc.) then turned on again. Interior was very hot to the touch. I have never had this happen before and I use a micro alot.

We use the GE Profile Spacemaker II for the basics: warming plates, reheating leftovers, and cooking frozen dinners. The control panel is intuitive to use, and the microwave operates quietly. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in a cabinet-depth appliance.

Love this microwave. Updated design of the one that I had before (purchased about 5 years ago). Fit perfectly into my existing under-the-cabinet bracket set.

Popcorn sensor is mediocre. Adding 20 seconds still leaves a lot of unpopped kernels. Adding 30 seconds creates burned popcorn.

Very convenient. Small on the outside but big enough inside for my needs. Easiest control panel I have used. Good looking unit that tucks away.[...]

I use it in everyday cooking and it is easy to use. Our 9 year old can use it for what ever he wants wheather it is popcorn, tomato soup or a micorwave meal he is able to read the directions and program the microwave with very little help from mom or dad.

This Spacemaker is much quieter and more efficient than our previous Spacemaker. It seems to heat faster and the turntable allows foods to cook more evenly.
