Great waffle baker; the only problem has been with the electronics in the timer, which quit working. However, Kitchen Aid is great about replacing the product within the 2 year warranty time frame.

Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Cons: It's big, Plastic parts break easil
Pros: Non-Stick, Fast, Consistent Results, Easy to Use and Clean
Best Uses: Whole Wheat Batters, Continental Breakfasts, Brunch
This machine is incredible. My daughter-in-law is very health conscious and insists that our grandson only eat healthy food. Make a whole-wheat buttermilk waffle with a bit of organic raspberry syrup and my grandson insists he is eating cake. A little butter in the batter and no other oils are needed.
makes lots of great waffles
By xbilly45 from seattle, wa on 12/28/2009.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Best Uses: Brunch, Lots of waffles
Pros: Consistent Results, Non-Stick, Fast
Cons: Heavy, Expensive
It does a great job at a seemingly simple task--cooking waffles. We've never had one before so I don't know how others might fail. Takes a few minutes to heat up but then you can really crank them out. The waffles seem large to me but I don't have others to compare it to. We'll use it for family breakfasts and group brunch type activities. It was probably 3x the cost of a simple unit but the solid construction and ability to make a huge volume of waffles makes it worth it to us.
Sturdy -- Well built
By D & D W from Wisconsin on 12/25/2009.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Best Uses: Brunch, Continental Breakfasts
Pros: Fast, Quick even backing, Consistent Results, Nice big deep waffles
Cons: Heavy, Difficult to Store
Makes nice deep waffels great for filling with fruit--yum-- Don't forget to season waffle maker with a small amount of oil before use. This tip is not included in instructions but make a world of difference in results. If using the double waffel feature make sure that you have everything ready for both waffles before putting batter in for first.
Killer waffle baker
By Lin from New Jersey on 12/22/2009.
Pros: Adjustable, Consistent Results, Fast, Non-Stick
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Best Uses: Brunch, Whole Wheat Batters, Continental Breakfasts
Cons: Heavy, Difficult to Store
Makes a pair of perfect waffles every time. You'll need to clean out half a cabinet to store the thing, but it does what you want it to do. There's nothing flimsy about the construction like you see on lesser models. I bake whole grain, restaurant sized, Belgian waffles every week, now. It's exactly what I wanted.
We're having Waffles Christmas Morning!
By jeepus from Colorado on 12/21/2009.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Cons: Heavy
I was asked to do a review today since it's been three weeks since my purchase. Well. I bought this as a Christmas present for our family. My husband, the traditionalist, insists that since it's a Chrismas gift, it must languish under the tree for weeks. I'm humoring him. After all, this means he also does not get any fabulous and delicious waffles for weeks. We are waiting each other out. I've been showing him delicious waffles in cookbooks from the library, and telling him how sad it is that we don't have a waffle baker. He has twice told me that he wants waffles for breakfast. I have said NO!! Bwah ha ha. I think he's looking forward to Christmas even more than me. All I can tell you at this point is that ABT ships promptly and without error. They sent exactly what I ordered, charged the correct price and communicated clearly by email. They are a business to be trusted. Also, I shopped around, they were the store with the best price I could find on this particular appliance. They are also an official Kitchenaid distributor, which is important. If you don't buy from a Kitchenaid distributor, you run the risk of not having the two year warranty honored, so keep that in mind. I almost purchased this from a big seller on ebay, but they clearly state in their auctions that you may or may not be able to get the warranty service because of the sellers non-official distributor status. As for the Waffle Baker, I have to say to prospective purchasers, be sure check out the dimensions of this thing, it's huge and it's heavy. I was going to store it outside of the kitchen anyway, so doesn't matter too much, but man!! The box is 19 x 13 x 12. That's as big as a smallish microwave or a large breadbox. I was aware how big it was and ordered it anyway, but I'm going to have to clear out a big hunk of counter space for this thing when it's in use. We have a smallish kitchen. I am looking forward to using it though, and think it'll still be worth having for the ability to make two big and tall waffles at a time. I have teenagers, and it was either this or buy two of any other unit or spend the whole morning in the kitchen making waffles one at a time. I like the two year warranty that comes with this machine. If it doesn't work properly over the next two years, Kitchenaid will ship me a new one. I hope I don't have to take advantage of that, I'd rather have a trouble free unit, but it is reassuring that I'll have a useable waffle baker for at least two years. At this moment, I would recommend this unit to "some" friends. It's not something that everyone would get enough use from to be worth the big price tag. I'm looking forward to using it myself though, and believe it will be used a lot.
I waited too long to buy this. Love it.

I use this anytime I get the urge to have waffles which is often. I've owned several waffle bakers and this is the absolute best. The price is a little high but well worth it. I have had perfect waffles right from the first one. No sticking waffles, no burned ones. One waffle or two it's the best. I love it.

Since my Wife and I are both 50 year old retired boomers, and on set pensions, we are FRUGAL SHOPPERS!, We read community blogs relating to items we are interested in purchasing. After reading the KitchenAid Pro-Line waffle baker blogs at several online sites we decided to make a purchase. Now the price point was at first alarming, BUT, we LOVE big, thick, waffles! we are WAFFLEITES!! We know most restaurants charge $7.00 for a small thin breakfast waffle, so our New KitchenAid waffle baker paid for itself after a mere 25 waffles, 12.50 each! In our 50 years of existence, we have NEVER seen a more beautiful, high quality, superb waffle baker EVER! OOPS!! I also, once poured to much batter, and it over flowed to one side, NO BIGGIE FOLKS!!,after it cooled the batter dried, It was a fast and easy to clean up. And being our existing kitchen appliances are all stainless steel, our beautiful KitchenAid Pro-Line waffle baker remains out on our island, it's big, bulky, and heavy so keep that in mind, BUT makes the BEST ***** FIVE STAR WAFFLES you'll ever taste!! We love our pumpkin waffles!!! P.S our waffles NEVER EVER STICK! remember use oil in your batter!! ENJOY, AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS 2009!!

Great professional waffle maker
By Waffle Dude from Chicago, IL on 12/1/2009.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Best Uses: Brunch, Continental Breakfasts
Pros: Fast, Adjustable, Non-Stick, Consistent Results
Cons: Heavy
Waffles are all batter dependent but once you have the right recipe/mix, this waffle maker pumps out BIG dude waffles! The maker is easy to use and clean up. As waffle mixes vary, it may take time to determine how long to cook to get the right consistency waffle. Sometimes we continue to heat them in the oven to crisp them up. The maker is heavy and does require some room in the cabinet to store.

Cons: Heavy
For anyone who likes great belgium style waffles, you can't beat this product. It's a very heavy duty kitchen appliance, that works like a champ. Here's some of the many pros of the device: Pros: - You can set the cooking time from 3 minutes on up, in increments of 15 seconds. (Some people have complained that you can't set the temperture, but that's what cooking time is for.) - The non-stick surface is solidly coated, and the waffles come out without a hitch. - The back of the device has a notch for the lid when you open it, so it stays open and flat when putting the batter in. - You can cook TWO full size waffles at the same time, so in one pass you can feed 2-4 people (depends on how much you eat, but 1/2 of one of these waffles is a big portion.) - Cleanup is a snap due to the non-stick surface - Extra waffles can be frozen and reheated later in the toaster. (beats those store bought frozen waffles!) CONs: - Heavy (but it's a double waffle maker so what do you expect!)

I use this product to make waffles that we love to eat. However, the waffle maker continues to heat and monitoring the waffles after the first batch is a must. They cool fast and don't taste as good when not eaten right away.

Too expensive not worth the cost
By Destimator from San Antonio on 10/1/2009.
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
Best Uses: Breakfast with family
Cons: Difficult to Store, Heavy, Difficult to Clean
Pros: Fast
I use it to make breakfast faster. The waffles come out fast but you have to serve them right away or they get cold and don't taste as good. The timer is not loud enough to catch your attention, basically have to keep watching the timer. It has no dial to keep the temperature from climbing. It is a heavy gagdet and cleaning would be easier if the plates were removeable.

Best Uses: Brunch, Continental Breakfasts
Describe Yourself: Casual Cook

Pros: Non-Stick, Fast, Adjustable, Consistent Results
This wafflemaker is all that I expected it to be. It makes great Belgain style waffles with deep pockets to hold the syrups or toppings of your choice. The timers allow you to determine how soft or crisp you'd like your waffle. The fact that you can make TWO (count 'em) two big waffles simultaneously makes this great for when you're having guests for brunch. I love the stylish onyx look. It IS heavier than I expected but the outcome is well worth the extra oomph you must put in to hoist it.

This is a great waffle maker - I love that it makes two waffles at once. It heats up quickly (about five minutes) and cooks both waffles in about four minutes. Waffles come out evenly cooked, crisp on the outside, & tender inside. The non-stick surface is great for easy clean-up and waffle removal. Worth the extra money!

THE KIDS WERE IN AWE WATCHING ME MAKE THESE WAFFLES, THEY EVEN STARTED TO COUNT DOWN WITH THE TIMER. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY KITCHEN AID FANATIC LIKE ME. A DID HAVE MOISTURE BUILD UP IN THE TEMP GAUGE ON THE TOP OF THE WAFFLE MAKER WHILE IT WAS BAKING THE WAFFLES. IT DID LATER EVAPORATE WHEN BAKER COOLED.

Best to pour from container with spout. Pour just enough to cover each section of grid or batter will expand and leak out over the sides when you close the lid. Give it about 10 seconds before flipping, again to reduce leaks. Make sure you throw the first batch away on first use as there is some residue that will come off, even if you wash the waffle maker first. A little practice and you can make perfect waffles, as the temperature control and density & weight of grids produces very consistent texture.

Wow! This is a GREAT unit to purchase. Yes it is a bulky unit, but it is awesome. And yes it is heavy, but all Kitchen Aid products are heavy. And to me that means dependablity and long lasting. I received this for Christmas. And Christmas morning breakfast was so good. The waffles come out evenly cooked. It is nice to have two making at the same time. This has always been a crip from hubby about the other waffle maker I have. Now we can all eat a warm waffle at the same time. This is a great waffle maker for a large family. He made a great choice when purchasing this waffle maker.(a christmas present that I actually wanted)

Its been great - its cooking consistently from the first waffle of the batch to the last. The double waffle feature is excellent[$] for a waffle maker may seem like a lot, but we have gone through three of them already at $40-$70 a pop - I wish I had found this one firstIts incredibly heavy - so you might want to store it on the same level you cook on.

There's nothing I can say about this machine that has not already been said. Makes two big, fluffy, perfectly cooked Belgian waffles. I tried the Carbon's Golden Malted mix - it's OK, but has too strong a vanilla taste. Bisquick, water, one egg and butter is all you need. Looked at the two hundred buck Cuisinart unit at W.S. but went with this instead since it makes round waffles. ABT had a great price [...] Totally worth the money.

Great Waffle Iron

Describe Yourself: Gourmet Chef
Pros: Well thought out design, Consistent Results, Non-Stick, Heats up fast
Best Uses: Whole Wheat Batters, Restaurant, Continental Breakfasts, Brunch
I have made a variety of waffles, from regular waffles to apple cinnamon oatmeal waffles to chocolate. It cooks better than any restaurant waffle iron I have ever used. I really like the double sided waffle iron aspect of it. You can feed your family and friends quicker.
Yes, it IS as good as everyone says!

Cons: Open area required above, Heavy
Researched a waffle iron like crazy. I read every possible user comment I could find. While there is no question this was the most expensive BY FAR of those I was considering, I have been very happy with the KitchenAid Pro since my purchase. Cooking AND cleanup are F A S T!! As I mentioned in cons, you must have plenty of room above waffle unit for when you open it up. I live in an apartment with overhead counters on most open areas, so I have to move waffle maker to the end of the counter when I cook with it.Realize, however, that waffles taste only as good as the batter used. Haven't had time to make from scratch, and there are waffle mixes I hated. Best so far is BellegeM mix I bought at [...]. Too expensive for everyday use, so I actually found that Bisquick isn't too bad for waffles (definite difference, just not bad). To both mixes, I add vanilla and a squirt of lemon juice.Plan on bringing this puppy with us when we go to the shore for a week this summer! :)
Great Waffles for hungry people
By Mark from Willoughby, Ohio on 04/26/2008.
Best Uses: Anytime, Weekend Cooking, Great for entertaining
Describe Yourself: Beginner Griller
Cons: Bulky
Pros: Easy To Use, Heats Up Quickly, Easy To Clean, Portable
I bought this Waffle maker as a birthday gift to myself. It is always nice to treat yourself once in a while. When my family arrived for my birthday, I gave them the surprise of homemade waffles. One quarter of a waffle made for a great appetizer just before our main dinner. I like the fact that it is very sturdy, and cleans up real easy. There is no need for non-stick spray. I make up a batch of batter, which lasts for 3-4 days in the fridge. Now, I use the waffle maker just on the weekends. The one con I have is that the waffle maker takes up some counter space in the kitchen. I have a walk-in kitchen, so there is not much room. I highly recommend this waffle maker to anyone with an appetite for waffles. It is worth the extra money to invest in something that will last.

I love the KitchenAid Pro-Line Waffle Baker because: --it requires *no* baking spray or oils on the cooking surfaces; that means no greasy/sticky build up and clean up is hassle free. --it heats up quickly. --the cooking surface does a great job of holding a good amount of batter without the batter spilling out the sides. --it makes two *evenly* cooked waffles. --a signal lets you know when the cooking time is completed. --the directions for using the waffle baker are easy to understand and direct. --its construction is very sturdy, yet light enough to move from one area of the kitchen to another if you need to.
simply put, this one is # 1

My family loves this waffle baker

Pros: Heats Up Quickly, Easy To Clean, Easy To Use, Portable

Best Uses: Weekend Cooking, Anytime, Big Volume Grilling
My family loves that it bakes 2 waffles at a time. It warms up very quickly and makes the waffles just as quickly. It is very easy to use. It's the "jaquar" of waffle bakers! The dials are easy to read and the timer and beeper make it so that there is no guess work whether the waffles are done or not. The only thing that is unfortunate is the weight of the machine. It's a little heavy to get in and out of a lower cupboard.
Not great, but not bad either
By A Belgian who loves waffles. from San Diego, CA on 03/24/2008.
Cons: Bulky, Makes big heavy waffles
Pros: Heats Up Quickly, Makes 2 waffles at a time, Easy To Clean
When the non stick surface on my Waring Pro WMK300 started coming off after 3 years of use, I bought the KitchenAid unit based on the reviews. Compared to the Waring, the waffles depth (gap between the 2 grids) is bigger, which results in heavier waffles. By turning the handle as soon as possible after pouring the mix, it is possible to create a gap between the 2 sides filled with air thereby creating lighter waffles, but I did not have to do this with the Waring. Also, the timer/beep on the Waring is automatic, while you have to remember to reset and restart the timer on the KitchenAid. Making 2 waffles at a time is an advantage, but if I had to do it all over again, I would probably end up buying another WMK300 for half the price, despite the fact that Waring does not provide replacement grids.

This product performs as advertised except no one mentioned how great the waffles were going to taste and that's with a box waffle mix! The only drawback is the calories it produces.
