Great water capacity. One unit humidifies a 900 sq. ft. condo for about 12 hours on setting 2. Quiet on settings 1 & 2; settings 3 & 4 get loud.Outputs a good amount of humidity quickly so settings 3 & 4 are not needed often.Reservoirs are awkward, but only needing filling every 12 hours so it's not too bad. Just don't drop one, b/c they will break easily. For best water usage, insert both reservoirs at the exact same time.Recommend a cloth or tray underneath.

Initially I rated this 4 stars, but after summer I went to start up the unit and the bearing in the electric motor seized. I had to unscrew 24+ screws to oil the electric motor to get it going again. If you need a humidifier that takes up little floor space, then this Essick D46 720 is so-so. If you are a light sleeper, do not put it in the bedroom as it makes an occasional gurgling noise as water evaporates from the bottom pan. Refilling is a little tricky.TRICK I LEARNED TO AVOID SPILLAGE: Do not try to insert the full tank onto the humidifier slowly. Line it up and semi-quickly lower the tank and latch it.WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? Not if I can find another humidifier that has the pros I want. See below. Hopefully a humidifier engineer will read this and design a similar unit but better.PROS: Uses small amount of floor space, easy to fill tanks, high capacity tanks, this evaporative type humidifier uses less energy than vaporizer types and the unit is attractive.CONS: In less than one year the bearing in the electric motor seized. It took a lot of time to oil the bearings. As much as I try to insert full tanks without spillage, once or twice a week I spill about a 6" puddle on my tile floor (on carpeting you should set the unit on a shallow tray), this evaporative type humidifier is noisier than vaporizer types. High speed (4) sounds like a loud air conditioner. Speed 3 is quiet, but does not increase the humidity a real lot. So I set it to 4 as I leave to work.

It is quiet enough to run all night on the two lower fan speeds. It is fairly easy to fill the two tanks and that doesn't take much time. The power cord is too short.
a wonderful piece of equiptment

The biggest problem I encountered was the learning curve of installing the wicks, and adding water to the unit. Learn the nuances of the machine, and you won't break tabs or spill a lot of water. The manual does a poor job of explaining these. Otherwise, this is a very good machine.
Everything from ordering, to use was easier, and better than I expected.
I would buy this product all over again

this product has been great to use,it lasts me a full 24hr period before it needs a refill, it humidifies a 14x80 mobile home that is very dry in the winter. when you first use it you should put it on level 3 and as it progress's lower the speed to 1 or 2 and it will maintain the humidity perfectly. Quiet motor adds to its charm, all together Iam happy I made this purchase and anyone thinking about it should go ahead and buy !

Love it!

A great product. Not as loud as other reviews I researched before purchasing. Holds plenty of water and tanks click on for easy removal and refilling. Sometimes it doesn't automatically switch from tank one to tank two, and you have to fiddle with it, but it performs so well I've learned to live with it.
