Sony PC Programmable Touch-Screen Remote Control - RM-AX4000A

This remote was introduced by Sony in 2005 and there is limited tech support and no future plans to upgrade the software. I run Vista and it is not compatible. The software stores devices, keys and macros internally. There isn't a setup file that can be saved or ported to another computer. So far, the macros have not functioned reliably and consistently. Multiple device on and off as well as changed inputs do not sync up properly. My main goal was to get to one remote to control all of my A/V equipment. I have setup 3 devices; TV, DVR and HTS and I have complete functionality by toggling to each piece of equipment separately. I have been unable, even with the help of Sony tech support, to create a macro that will setup all devices properly with the touch of one button. I would recommend this device with the stated disclaimers.

Good remote, the oly thing i didn't like is that you can't change the buttoms on the dysplay.

It was incredibly easy to program all my AV components and my Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HDC with this remote. At the ninety nine dollar pricetag, this remote was a steal.

Can program up to 16 different items. If you have Sony "stuff" it's pre-programmed. Once you learn your way around the software, it's easy to program other units via infrared learning, and it's possible to build macros for special sequences. The unit is large, and it's cumbersome to try to operate with one hand - I prop it on a chairside table and just leave it there. I bought two of these... I've replaced four remotes in one location, three in the other - nice to reduce the clutter! Bought these on special from ABT - well worth the money.
