Our old disposal was a 20 year old (approx) similar Kitchenaid batch mode model. It worked well and there is no switch on the wall so we had to replace it with another batch mode mode with a magnetic switch in the stopper. The new one is:- Powerful and very quiet; I can barely hear it running over the sound of the water from the faucet.-Installation was easy in my sink. The instructions indicate that you need to order a special part if you have an exceptionally thick sink where the drain is.- Batch mode style (switch is in the stopper) is very safe and convenient. You can't drop anything in it while it is running and you don't touch a switch on the wall with your wet hands to turn it on.- The stopper design is clever, put it in one way and it plugs the sink. Flip it over and it allows water in and turns on the disposal when you rotate it. But the stopper side had a cavity which fills up with water and if you pull it out quickly you may splash the water on yourself. The switch side has slots for the water to pass through which get clogged up by food debris and are noteasy to rinse out. But it does look like a better design than the old magnetic one that was was nicer to use but rusted out after about 5 years and was $60 to replace.- The cavity is small; about 2/3 the size of the older model so each batch that you grind must not be too big. - The casing is a snapped on plastic cover; [...]The base of the unit is very thin sheet metal so the romex clamp for the cord threads skipped over the sheet metal when I tightened it down.Overall it is very nice to use, and it should be for the price of this high end unit, and Abt's price was the best I could find anywhere.I was a bit dissapointed in Kitchenaid's stopper design and while the interior workings and motor work well and seem well built, I expected a tougher enclosure for a unit at this price.

This was the 3rd Kitchen Aid batch feed disposer we've owned, but the most disappointing. While easy to install, the new latch employs a magnetic on/off switch. The handle traps food, which must be removed regularly, a nuisance, and is difficult to insert and remove. Not good engineering. The rubber splash guard prevents food from dropping into the bin, so we removed it. Grinding is good and reasonably quiet.

Comments about KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

Purchased to replace an older model Kitchenaid food disposer. This until is much quieter and does the job but the sink clogs up much more frequently with normal use. Disposer handles the job well so I just have to use it more often than the older model.

Quietest disposal; slower than old model

Comments about KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

This is the quietest disposal I have ever seen. With water running, one can barely hear the disposal. Performance is not as good as my previous Kitchenaid that recently died - has smaller batch capacity, takes longer to grind, the stopper tends to accumulate debris.

      Service and delivery comments:

Perfect transaction with Abt - fast shipment, well packaged. Pre-sale questions promptly answered by easy to reach customer service. Will definitely recommend Abt to friends.

Comments about KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

The switch on this batch feed disposal is magnetic so once you put the plug down and turn in slightly it turns right We prefer this type to the continuous feed (which turns on and off with a switch on the wall) because it can't be left on any longer than you let it so there's lower risk of utensils or other things getting in there accidentally.

Comments about KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

Though I expected it to look like the Kitchenaid batch feed that was installed over 20 years ago and was a little dubious about the odd-looking drain cover, I was pleasantly surprised at how much easier it was to use, how quickly the garbage was emulsified, and especially how quietly it ran. Even if I'm on the phone, the person on the other end can't hear it. Someone reviewed the stopper as being difficult to clean, but I can see no reason why it couldn't easily be scrubbed or even put in the dishwasher. Since I didn't read the directions, I was a bit puzzled about how to insert the stopper to fill the sink with water. Simply turn the stopper over!

The plumber installed it quickly and easily.

Another review indicated the person was not happy with a batch feed disposal. For safety reasons, I cannot understand why one would buy one that is not batch feed. It is virtually impossible to have anyone's hand in the disposal while it is running!

Well worth the price and abt's price couldn't be beat.

The 1st KitchenAid Batch Feeder lasted 23 years. Only had to replace the stopper every few years. This new KitchenAid Batch Feeder is way quieter than the first one. Read reviews about quietness but I was really supprised once installed. Only tough part is the weight during installation as only I installed it.
