BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
I have just stepped up to a DSLR from the Konica/Minolta A2. After reviewing a number of alternatives--Olympus E-3, Canon EOS 40, and Sony Alpha 700, I chose this for the following reasons--Live View, excellent focus in very dim light, 12 MP, excellent color, good noise control at ISO 1600+. I have not been disappointed in its low-light performance, both in its ability to focus and its noise.
Best Uses: Documentary, Travel, Fun
Pros: Great low-light photos, Small Lag Time, good focus in dim light, Bright LCD, Comfortable Controls
Cons: No built-in IS, LCD does not swivel

One of the best DSLR's around. The strong construction is amazing and the ease of getting to almost all the buttons you need while taking a snap is readily available at your finger tips..The picture quality is beyond comparison and users of any level can easily start taking snaps right away.. I just love the 6 fps and the 8 fps with the Ac adpator or the MB-D10 grip...Took the snap of a grape and after seeing the details captured by the camera in the snap, my friend suggested that I should use this as a microscope....So glad I decided to get this one ...
