Great for 6-8 burgers, 6-8 dogs/sausages, 4-6 NY strips; haven't stumped it yet!! Small size, light weight, portability, easy to store out of sight are all the reasons we bought it, and we were NOT disappointed. Weber has always been our choice, and this makes 6 Weber units in the family.

After owning a number of very nice larger grills I decided I wanted something portable. This Weber has been quite a pleasant surprise.

Although it's certainly not the most important factor in a grill purchase, this thing is amazingly efficient. I can typically heat up the grill from cold, through cooking a single round of food, and then repeating from cold a total of TEN TIMES on a 1lb cylinder. I bought the 6' accessory hose with it but it's really unnecessary as this grill is so ridiculously efficient!

Anyways, on to cooking...

The grill does not get quite hot enough for truly flash-searing a steak as can only be done on a large, high-output gas grill. However, this in no way detracts from its ability to competently cook a perfect steak.

Unlike most low-output gas grills, it doesn't dry food out. The minimal air volume inside keeps food moist and tender the way a charcoal grill would, and allows, if desired, very slow cooking without ruining food.

The ability to cook a bit lower-and-slower results in much more juicy food, and I've found myself switching from regular to lean beef for burgers as there is absolutely no need for the extra fat to "protect" the meat from drying out. This also makes it a fantastic grill for hotdogs, chicken, and meat-free alternative products.

One slight downside of the lower temperature range of this grill is that it's far from self-cleaning, so scrubbing it down somewhat between rounds of food is generally a good idea, especially with burgers. However, the squared-off tops of the bars in the grill surface make this much quicker easier than on grills with rounded or pointy bars.

The direct path from the cast-iron grill surface to the lower shell means that this is the first grill I've used where the drip tray is actually useful, and in this case it is also very easy to access and clean.

The use of an uncoated cast iron grill is actually a substantial improvement from ceramic-coated cast iron surfaces found in many grills. Rust, when and if it happens, is always on the surface, not in a crevice formed under a ceramic coating, so it's easy to clean rust off and keep the grill from being ruined.

The burner is a heavy-gauge, tubular design, uncommon in grills these days. It's positioned under a section of the cast-iron grill surface that doubles as a diffuser. This design minimizes crevice corrosion as is commonly responsible for destroying "flat" burners in many grills, giving you a lot more longevity for your grill investment. Being small enough to bring inside (take the tank off!) when not in use gives the Weber a further advantage when longevity is considered.

The bottom line is that, while I am fond of using a blazing-hot full-size barbecue, I just can't be bothered using my older, larger grill now that I have this Weber.

After recommendations from other people that use a similar Weber which is the larger version of the Q100 We purchased I felt for the price and the name brand as well as a grill that was very light weight and portable it was in ideal addition for us to travel with us When we go camping with our motor home
Weber has always been known for its high quality barbecues and here again this smaller barbecue fits or needs.
