Great service from ABT. I would definitely order products from them again. This purchase was a replacement for a unit that died and had to fit into the same wall mount. That is the only reason I purchsed this model. Too expensive for the quality of the product.

Change of heart

I previously wrote a review after having issues with this model microwave. The door did not open after at least 15 minutes of use. While on my second unit and calling ABT for help again, a service tech came out and was able to determine that an adjustment needed to be made on the door mechanism. We tested it and the malfunction has yet to occur again. Thanks ABT! We really like this unit and now it's dependable! I strongly suggest the extended warranty as my previous unit (exact same one) went out after several years.

Replaced a KitchenAid microwave that was 15 years old. This one has a very similar cabinet size, but the interior is smaller and the revolving tray is smaller. So far it seems to be working just fine.

It's a great unit but unreliable

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We first bought this exact unit in '08 and it worked great. Suddenly it started to make a very loud noise while heating. We called ABT in for repair and was told that it needed a new transformer costing $153. So, with no extended warranty, we opted to buy a new one. After using this unit a few times, we noticed that the door wouldn't open after the unit completed its heating cycle. We had to press the button all the way in and pry the door open with our fingers. After the unit cools down, however, the door opens correctly. We called ABT again and they quickly replaced the unit. The very same exact thing happened to the 2nd unit. I call KitchenAid Customer Service and asked if there was a product recall on this unit. I was told that there were no reports of this kind of malfunction. The 2nd ABT tech/delivery driver did hear of this malfunction on this unit and also said that KitchenAid was one of the most reliable units on the market. ?? We really like this unit but I think that being able to freely open the door is rather important. Perhaps we'll try a 3rd and last unit and yes, we did purchase the extended warranty!

Unexpectedly Disappointing

We replaced a very quiet 24 year old Amana for something that matches our other appliances. The new machine generates an odd odor that seems to track to the food when you are cooking and when you eat the food. And compared to the 24 year old Amana, the Kitchenaid is very noisy and loud whilst cooking.

Disappointing build and poor finish

The finish on the outside of the microwave is poor. Instead of being clear gloss black as it should be, the finish looks as if it is covered in a plastic haze -- very noticeable and unattractive. Also, opening and closing the door is noisy, most likely due to the over use of inexpensive, lightweight plastics.

This microwave brand came with the house when it was built. It lasted 9 years. I was surprised that the price was so much, but I purchased it, because it is such a reliable over. ABT offered the lowest price, I saved almost $100. It arrived fast, works perfectly. I only ordered from ABT because of a review that I read prior to ordering. I have since purchased a TV from them where I have saved over $600.

I got this microwave with the trim kit so that we could have a more built-in look. The microwave does everything that it is supposed to do, but it is very small compared to what we had prior to this one. Also, the front surface shows fingerprints very quickly and easily.

We bought this microwave to replace its predecessor, which went out on us after 11 years. I was pleased with how quickly the new microwave arrived, how easy it was to install and that the old trim kit fit beautifully. I do not "cook" in my microwave; rather use it to melt butter, reheat food, etc., and it does a fabulous job. The reheat options using the sensors are great for reheating a meal. And the price can't be beat!

This KitchenAid microwave was needed to replace a previous model - door button broke. Since it was the only model that would ft in the space I had to stick with KitchenAid. It works fine but my guess is so do the others that were a lot less expensive.

I PURCHASED THIS MICROWAVE TO BE INSTALLED IN A 24" WIDE SPACE, ABOVE A NEW KITCHENAID OVEN AND WITH A TRIM KIT. I CHOSE THE KITCHENAID BECAUSE IT WOULD LOOK GREAT AND I ASSUMED IT WOULD BE A HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT. MY LAST MICROWAVE WAS A LARGE 28" SHARP MICRO/CONVECTION OVEN. IT WAS GREAT AND HEATED QUIETLY AND VERY WELL. THE KITCHENAID IS VERY NOISY AND BUZZES WHEN IT STARTS UP, IT DOES QUIET DOWN ONCE IT GETS GOING, BUT IT IS STILL NOISY. I HAVE NOT COOKED WITH THIS EXTENSIVELY BUT MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR IS THAT IT HEATS UNEVENLY. CONSIDERING THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE PRODUCT I WOULD EXPECT IT TO BE A QUIETER AND HEAT BETTER . MY WHOLE FAMILY IS MISSING THE OLD MICROWAVE.

I purchased this to replace a KitchenAid microwave that died after 4 years of use. I had a hole and a trim kit requiring the same size microwave. This new unit works just fine, but it sure isn't as "pretty" as the old one! Improvements over the old model: rotating ring can be removed for easier cleaning Un-improvements - door does not open past 85 degrees (meaning it does not open 'all the way') not a problem except when trying to remove a large plate/pan from the unit I hope it lasts longer than four years....that doesn't seem very long for an appliance that only gets used 10 min a day!

Was a great microwave while it lasted, but after three years, the magnetron just died, which means the oven will no longer heat anything. Called around to get it repaired and everyone said the problem is common and its better to just replace the whole oven. Not a satisfactory answer for a [$] microwave if you ask me. Really disappointed. Thought paying a little more for the kitchen aid name was worth it. Apparently it's not.

With the trim kit, the microwave fit into the opening I had for an 18 year old KitchenAid microwave that finally wore out. I went with KitchenAid to match all my other appliances, but this model was perhaps $200 more that what is probably an identical Whirlpool model that has the same specs and uses the exact same trim kit.

Unreliable

This is the 2nd unit I've owned in 2 years and the 3rd unit in 5 years. I wouldn't buy it again except that the space it sits in which contains a 24 inch frame prevents me from utilizing a different unit. Each time, it was the magnetron that failed and unfortunately after the 1 year warranty had expired. Buyer beware!

It is a little more high-power than the typical microwave, so adjust cooking times with that in mind: we had a freezer bag of spinach whose directions said to micro 5 minutes explode at 4 minutes. Nice design, fairly idiot-proof.

It seems like the real manufacturer may be the same as the manufacturer for the Kenmore 6325. The settings are almost identical. Unfortunately, the magnetron in the Kenmore I previously had broke down twice for me. There are some things I like better about the Kitchenaid. First, the display is flat, so it can be read at any angle. Second, the timer continues to beep periodically until you press Stop. Third, the color of the display LEDs is blue. Fourth, there's a button for opening the door. The one thing I do not like as much is that there's no button for adding 10 seconds, just one for adding 1 minute. I'm hopeful that the magnetron will last longer, but I bought the 4-year service contract just in case.

Fits out Cabinets perfectly

When we remodeled our kitchen we had a hard time finding a microwave sized to our cabinets. After three years, that one died when the door latch seized and would no longer open. This KitchenAid we bought from Abt fit the dimensions perfectly. I was able to re-use the same trim kit and install it quickly. It looks beautiful and works well. It is powerful, and I usually cut cooking times by 1/3 to 1/2. I am happy with both Abt and the microwave.

great oven

We've had an older similar Kitchen Aid microwave for 8 years and have liked it so much we simply bought the newer model when my wife burned the yam and caused a permanent stink in the old one. I like the custom defrost, reheat and easy to use display. I guess it can't be too easy because my wife never figured out the custom auto baked potato.

New model beats old

Replaced older kitchenaid microwave that served us well for only 7 years. Old unit was built in by kitchen installer and plastic shipping cover was not removed, likely causing early failure. New model is just as powerful but much quieter, and even better in appearance. New model fit old built in kit. Must be sure to remove plastic wrap, which is firmly adhered, before use.

Better than my built in microwave

I bought this to replace the microwave that broke in my built-in Kitchenaid microwave/oven combination. I didn't want to replace the entire microwave/oven unit yet, and there wasn't a replacement just for the microwave. So I bought this as just a temporary countertop unit, but I love it! It actually works better than my old built-in. It's quiet, powerful, heats evenly, and doesn't retain the food odors. The "add a minute" feature is great. It lets you cook in one minute intervals. Press it once and you have one minute, twice and you have two and so on. The styling is good, so it doesn't ruin the look of your kitchen sitting out on the counter. The controls are easy to use and sturdy. I like it so much, I might keep it as an extra oven when I redo the kitchen and get a new built-in. It's good Kitchenaid quality at a reasonable price. Kitchen Aid Replacement - Thrill is Gone

My first Kitchen Aid microwave oven finally died and it performed so well for me over many years I decided to buy another. I got the stainless steel model - although not as eloquently designed as the previous model, it was not offensive. I still was able to use the SS frame after grinding off 1/4 inch of medal. The positives - much more power (have broken one dish already) and faster cooking time, easy to clean, same features and control methodology as my old microwave. The negatives - quality does not appear to be as good i.e. cheaper construction, door misaligned, so does not close easily, but not bad enough to go through the hassle of returning, they also made the start button smaller, use it the most, the button they squeeze into the space is used infrequently. Initially, I was excited ordering a newer model of the Kitchen Aid, but got my hopes too high and am slightly disappointed at the result. My mistake, they do not make things like they used to.

For some reason, the heating element conked out today, less than a month and a half after purchase. This is the second Kitchen Aid microwave we've had and the first lasted 7 years, so go figure.

Simple Clean Lines, Loaded with Features

It hard to find good looking design when it comes to counter top microwaves, most look like a cross between boom boxes and space ships with too many buttons. Microwaves are an area of industrial design that have been way overlooked, most could do with a make over! This KitchenAid, however, is well balanced with good form and advanced functions. It's the most streamlined of all counter top designs and features good clean lines, with a restrained layer of text and graphics on the face. It works efficiently, is not too loud, and a decent medium size. Overall a good product if you need a microwave in your kitchen. Looks good in white.

I love it. Looks beautiful in my kitchen and it very powerful. The only thing that I do not like is that you have to be constantly cleaning the outside for finger print. I am a neat freak that is why. Other than that its the best thing worth what I paid for.
