We are very happy with our new Whirlpool Duet. I was pleasantly surprised at just how quiet it is when running. Our old Duet was quite loud. This machine's spin cycle is very fast, and the the clothes come out without needing much dryer time! It has all the basic cycles I require for a washer. On another note, our old Whirlpool Duet had bearings that went bad after owning it for six years. The cost negated getting it fixed, and we decided to get a new one. I certainly hope this Duet last longer than six years! If not, we'll not get another Whirlpool Duet. These machines need to be built to last longer; with the money a washer costs, I expect and deserve to have a machine last longer than 6 or 7 years.

This machine is big enough. It didn't shake the house down or make too much noise - except at the end when the annoying notification device goes off to let you know your washing cycle is over - even at midnight - there is no way to turn it off. The technology is interesting - spins the clothes like crazy - had to way reduce the dry time - the clothes are half dry coming out. That is good - except for the wrinkles. LIke the extra rinse function and have been using it.But the biggest challenge for this machine seems to be getting clothes clean. yes, they go through the cycles (which are extraordinarily LONG - I'm talking hours here).... but in the end they just don't look clean. Especially whites, or anything with a stain. VERY disappointing. And because of the options I had to try lots of different cycle choices, switched up detergents, water temp, etc etc. So after three months (and probably too late to do anything about it) I am not satisfied. My last front loader was WAY better on the cleaning part of the job. I think on our way to innovation we forgot our primary purpose - get the clothes clean :)

Broke down after 16 months!

Comments about Whirlpool Duet Tuscan Chestnut Front Load Washer:
Bought my whirlpool duet 16 months ago, 4 months after the warranty expired and the washer just broke down. The rubber ring tore off and I had water all over the floor. I can't believe that the machine only lasted this long before breaking down. I will never buy another one like this again. Also the spin cycle isn't very good and sometimes leaves clothes quite wet.

Does it's job, except
Small clothing (eg socks) and tide pods constantly get stuck between the glass door and the rubber catchment at the bottom of the door. I think it's due to the concave design. Otherwise it's great. It's just really annoying to fish out the clothes from that stupid shelf. Had it for a year now.

We like to conserve energy and water and were initially happy to buy this washer. Overtime, it has become clear that there is a design problem with the gasket. It does not dry well and mildew takes over. No amount of bleach, hydrogen peroxide or elbow grease has resolved this ongoing issue. Yes, we've left the door open and used less detergent. The problem seems to be in the design and we feel ripped off, particularly as there has been a class action suit for this very same problem on earlier models. Our next step is to have the gasket replaced. After that, if the issue continues, it's back to a top load washer for us.
Have had major problems with the spin cycle.

I would not buy another one of these washers again. I've had continuous problems with the controls and the spin cycle on every wash setting it has.

This machine is TERRIBLE. It leaks, it doesn't clean clothes, the quick cycle gets stuck on 8 minutes, sloshes your clothes around, then stops - leaving your clothes DRENCHED so you have to ring them out or do a regular hour-long wash. Terrible product. Extremely disappointed.
Simple machine with minimal settings. Washes well.

This is a simple machine with realitively few unnecessary cycles. I hope it lasts longer than my maytag did!

So glad I bought the duet washer. Love love love.
I love my Whirlpool washer!

I have had my Whirlpool Washer and dryer for several years now, and I am still in love with them!! I am 66 years old and I have gone through more sets of washers and dryers than I can count. This set is my favorite and I am pleased. I know about the mold problem, but I dry the door off and under the rubber seal around the door and I keep the washer door open. My mold problems have been mild. I loved my set so much, I talked my 81 year old mother into buying a new set. She was amazed at how it cleaned clothes that had been stained for a long time. I am a happy customer and when the time comes, I will replace them with Whirlpool! I do wish you had not stopped making the top that goes over the washer and dryer. I was fortunate enough to buy one with my set. My mother wanted one and they were no longer available. I love the storage that is in the stands that I purchased with the washer and dryer. They make the washer and dryer up high enough that it is easy to take the wet clothes out and put them in the dryer. Thank you so much for making the set so great!
I do not know what to do anymore

I believe there is something missing with this picture. Clothes come out dirty most of the time. it takes to long to wash a lead and i use to much soap/detergent even though we use high efficiency detergent. I called and i was told to put in extra rinse done that and does not work.????????
Disappointed, Costly, does not save energy in my house
from Chesterfield, MO
Required repairs twice in less than 2 years of owning. #1 Pressure switch hose malfunctioned (due to cheap plastic clips inside that broke, allowing the hose to rub a hole in it) So the washer completely filled with water, unable to drain no matter what I did, then the door burst open flooding my laundry room.#2 Clothes stuck inside, door would not unlock (2 days before vacation!!!) Required a costly computer? repair.Aside from the costly aggravating repairs, it does NOT CLEAN, and not energy efficient when you have to wash things extra times. I have to select "extra rinse" & "heavily soiled" routinely. The scent of my husbands deodorant NEVER fades, even after washing the load 3 times in a row.The mildew smell is awful even though I leave the door open at all times, and use the cleaners.
