After closing on a foreclosed property, came the daunting task of replacing the range. Working the last 10 years in the industry, didn't make things easier, ironically. I wanted one of those High End Pro-style ranges, but conversely, wasn't able to allocate $5-6K to do so.

I had loved the look of the Electrolux, and the model encompassed all the features I was looking for (Convection, Glide out racks, Continuous Grates, High output burner, simmer). In addition to everything I knew I wanted in the range, came a 5th burner, a lower baking drawer, great lighting and an awesome control panel. ALL FOR LESS THAN 1/2 THE PRICE OF THE PRO MODELS!

The Max to min burner gets the most use, by far. Heats up very quickly, and can hold low heat very, very well. We use the range daily, and while the Stainless steel cooking surface does require more attention when it comes to cleaning, the overall look is well worth the extra few minutes it takes to polish it to a shine.
Additionally, the drivers mentioned that they hate delivering the Electrolux ranges. Why? Because they are heavy- actually, the heaviest of all the 30" ranges they deliver. That to me, equates to quality.
We love the our range, and it looks incredible in our kitchen. I highly recommend this oven to everyone!

This range was a dream come true until the first time we used the self cleaning oven feature. After that, temperature control was erratic. Service man said you should never use your vent hood while cleaning, because it draws the heat up into the control panel. Sounds like a MAJOR design flaw! Was still under warranty THIS TIME. Will the electronics cook every time we clean the oven? Service man said to place box fans on oven drawing the heat away. Again, MAJOR design flaw!

I like this oven a great deal. It's beautiful inside and out, and I especially love the cobalt blue interior and easy-glide racks. Its convection mode is far quieter than any other that I've used. I actually wondered at first if it was working, but it was. I love the wave-touch controls, and think it looks very nice in my kitchen.

There were two problems though:

1) You MUST remember to change oven rack positions BEFORE the oven heats up because removing the (otherwise wonderful) easy-glide racks is a very difficult enterprise when they're hot; and

2) our oven was delivered with one burner malfunctioning (it won't light). We had the Abt repairman out, but he could not fix it and is ordering us a part to "try" to fix it. I feel a new oven will ultimately be on its way...

Othewise, this is a superb oven and I think it's an exceptional value.

Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt and professional, but I found that one burner did not light, and that has been the subject of a so-far unsucessful service call.

I love this range. The oven controls are wonderful and as a bit of a gadget freak I love showing them off. Convection oven is great to have, and all sorts of bells and whistles like a special "convection roast" "slow cook" "keep warm" and so on are very useful.

The controls for the burners are solid and easily adjust the flame to just what you want. The speed burner heats up a pot of water before you know it, and the fifth burner is more useful than I expected.

The entire range just feels solid. In particular, this is true of the oven racks which are very very solid and even click into place.

This range is a great choice for cooks who want a professional feel, but who lack the space, clearance, or budget for a truly professional range.

The manual that comes with the range is very thorough, and a new owner will want to keep it handy as there are all sorts of options (particular for the over) that you will want to learn about.

The built-in temperature probe, combined with the ability to pre-set your desired meat temperature when roasting worked like a charm, and you can set the oven to flip to "hold temp" mode when your temperature is reached.

My only quibbles:

The stovetop grates rattle a little when you're cooking, but not as bad as on some other ranges I've experienced. As all top-end ranges should, they have little rubber feet and this helps keep them in place.

The bottom oven takes forever to preheat and is really small, but, hey, its a second oven what do you expect! I will use this primarily to keep something warm while finishing up the rest of the meal.

The main oven vents directly onto the stovetop, which can get a little warm.

As always, service from Abt is beyond belief. There is a reason they sell so many appliances.

Comments about Electrolux 30" White Freestanding Gas Range:

This is a serious cooking tool. The touch screen controls are totally intuitive and the quality of the product is first rate. I have tried most of the features and all have performed as advertised. Like any tool you need to do some testing, but you will not be disappointed with the results.
