DON'T BUY - Will never buy another KITCHENAID Product again

Comments about KitchenAid Panel-Ready Single Drawer Dishwasher:
I spent 8000, on Kitchenaid appliances in 2010 - Since then, each one has needed repairs. This EXPENSIVE dishwasher, leaks, trips my breaker, and each time a light on my panel no longer lights up. Afraid that it is a fire waiting to happen! Customer Service is not willing to do anything. A dishwasher this expensive should last longer than 6 years! KitchenAid lost a customer for good. Will never buy KitchenAid products again. I would give it a 0 star if allowed!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought this for our new home 6 years ago and now getting rid of it. Each drawer has been used less than 10 times in the six years. (About once a year when the kids all come.) I don't run it since it takes more than 6 hours for each cycle. New "controls" when still under warranty were of no help. Now the top draw is non-functional and will not wash nor cancel. Also, the drawer configurations are poorly designed. Thought it would be a good choice since it is just of the two of us. Not so!! Finally just biting the bullet and getting a new one door model. I like KitchenAid very much, but not this particular product.

We bought ours seven years ago. We absolutely love it and would buy another in the future. As with all new appliances, you have to try different ways to load...very easy and I use upper shelves for mugs and cups on one side and for tongs and large knives on the other. It is very quiet, uses very little detergent, and it is ideal for smaller household, no need to run a larger version all the time. Unless we have visitors, we run one of the drawers every other day...no smell! I am sorry to hear that this type dishwasher is being discontinued.

To begin with the dish racks are of really poor design making for a very inefficient stacking/placement of dishes. There is no place for small items (the tilt down side shelf is useless) so items normally placed on the top shelf of a regular dishwasher have to lay at the bottom and likely interfere with cleaning of items stacked above. There isn't a load that has not required me to have to wash numerous pieces again by hand. I can't believe how poorly it cleans dishes, especially cutlery and plastics. And that detergent dispenser system...useless! The worst part is that the units develop a mildewy smell that is difficult to get rid of and if we leave for any length of time we have to remember to leave the drawers open otherwise we come home to a kitchen that smells of mildew. What is so upsetting is that it was so expensive!
initially, 7 years ago, we thought this was a great idea, but not anymore. The drawers won't stay open long enough to put dishes in or take them out, without propping the drawer(s) open! The "normal" clean cycle isn't great...simple stuff that's set in for half a day doesn't come off the dishes, so we basically have to wash the dishes before putting into the dishwasher. Kind of glad to see this model has been discontinued, however, I wonder how we will get parts, if needed down the road....
