This product is great, my friend has a 46" and basically the same model. But after mine was delivered and all hooked up to the HD box it was an amazing picture. I also have it hooked up to my xbox and the gaming experience is insane with this TV it has great resolution. It's a great buy for the price I paid for it.

For the price, you can't beat the picture! I have had the tv for about a month and have had no problems and couldn't be happier. I am a casual user, watching football on the weekends and some tv shows during the week and I can tell you that the picture is perfect for that type of use. I was debating between this model and the 1080p model (A550) but it was worth it to save hundreds for the 720p. I do not have a blueray player but I would doubt that the picture would look any better with 1080p on a 40 inch tv. [...] agrees that unless you are at least getting a 46 inch or more likely 50 inch, the picture difference is not noticeable.

Can't make up my mind about this one....

First the set up. One of the screws would not fit into the base so we had to make do with a screw missing, that was the start. After we finally got it into position the picture was difficult to adjust, we still, after three weeks of use do not have the picture adjusted to our satisfaction. Every channel is different. If we have the picture adjusted perfectly on CNN then change the channel the colors are likely to be off and the picture needs readjusting. Next, the picture size. It seems with these wide screen sets that we can either have a complete picture in the middle of the screen with several inches in black on either side, reducing the picture to the size of our previous set, or we can have a complete wide screen picture where everyone is misshapen (fat and squashed) or we can zoom to fill the screen (the one we like best) but the tops of the heads are missing and the moving banners at the bottom of the screen. Or we can zoom even further and get a really useless picture. None of these choices is satisfactory. It seems we are always having to make do with it. Lastly we need closed captioning since a member of the family is hard of hearing. The default closed captioning on several channels is in the top half of the screen directly across the faces in a thick black banner! In the brochure it states that there are captioning options, color and size of text, background color, that sort of thing, but this function is unobtainable on this set. It comes up on the menu screen but it's in gray so there is no access to change the captioning to say put it at the bottom of the screen in a smaller size. All in all, we are fairly disappointed. When it's good it's a wonderful picture, especially on National Geographic or Nature channels, but it's usually a compromise. For us it's either having the tops of heads cut off and a black banner across the faces or a picture the size of the one we had before so that we can read the banners. I would not recommend this set, but still, it may be as good as any wide screen out there. They still have a long way to go.

Great TV. No issues with this monitor at all. The only problems I had were related to reception. When you upgrade from the old TV to a large screen, even cable looks bad. Nothing you can do with analog cable to make it better. Optimized the signal with amplifiers and good connections, but wasn't happy until I hooked up a UHF antenna to get digital over-the-air HD signal. ahhhh. BEAUTIFUL picture. I'll tolerate analog cable for stuff I can't get over the air, but it's hard to accept. I built a home theater PC with Vista Ultimate (media center), and with the digital antenna signal, I can record (nearly) perfect shows, click through scenes, schedule, etc. Oh, the TV works great :-) Using an HDMI connection, it's one cable, plug and play (almost). Took some tweaking of the computer system, antenna, and etc, but the TV was always there with a nice and easy to optimize picture. Nice work Samsung !!

Purchased this TV from ABT 2 weeks ago at a great price. Has been excellent. [...]set it up on my TV stand in less than 10 minutes. Picture quality on HD channels is awesome. Connected via HDMI to a Phillips upconverting DVD player, and the detail is unbelievable.So far, I've had to make only a few changes to the picture settings. There are many different ways to change the picture quality and color settings, and all sorts of other nifty setting features, but there are 2 features I find particularly useful. One is that you have a quick choice between 3 general picture modes - Dynamic (for viewing in a brightly lit room), Standard (for a normally lit room), and Movie (for viewing movies in a dark room). I live in a bright apartment with lots of windows, so during the day I use the dynamic setting (unless it's really cloudy outside), and at dusk I switch to standard for the rest of the evening. The switch between the two modes works really well for my situation. You can also customize color and picture settings within each of those modes.The other cool feature is a series of energy saving settings that you can use to control the brightness of the picture, which in turn affects the TV's power usage. I have my TV set to a low energy saver setting, and that works fine.The one slightly negative attribute concerns the sound from the TV's built in speakers. The speakers themselves are pretty weak (10 W x 2 channels), but the TV itself must be producing great sound, since my home theater amplifies the sound via the TV's Audio Out jacks, and it's excellent.

I've had the Samsung 40' 720P LCD for 3 weeks now and I'm loving it. I'm not the most savvy consumer when it comes to electronics, but I did spend several weeks sifting through reviews before I purchased. Overall, I love the look of the tv and the image so far has exceeded expectations. The only issue I've had is that I've had a difficult time finding a volume level that is comfortable. Volume seems to fluctuate too much between channels and programs. Other than that, I'm very pleased and would highly recommend this tv.
