BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Great vac but initial figuring out how to detach the handle to use the discrete attachments was not easy. Not everything can be explained by just a multi-lingual picture that is intented as the ONLY instructions. Initial mode of power is with beater-bar on, this is not optimal for hardwood floors. Second press disengages the beater-bar.

This is a lightweight easy to use vacuum with good suction. I need to carry it up & down stairs so the weight was important. I wish the cord were longer and it doesn't suction dirt quite close enough at corners and edges. Turning it sideways along those lines seems to do a little better than straight on.

This vacuum is amazing, It's worth every dollar you pay for it. We have long hair- like almost to my knees. Every single vacuum I had so far was stuck after 2 minutes of vacuuming my house. This runs like crazy. My carpets look like the day they were installed. Honestly- the best and easiest in use vacuum you can imagine. And it's so easy to handle and looks amazing.

I owned a Rainbow for years...

I owned a Rainbow for years, which used a similar vortex system with no bags to clog up and cut down on suction efficiency. But the dirty water afterward was always a pain to clean out. The Dyson uses the same principle, no bag to clog up and cut down on efficiency. But it uses a cyclone effect to separate the air and the debris instead of a water chamber. Much easier to clean.

Dyson's the shizzle

This vacuum does everything. We had two vacuums prior. One for large areas and another for bathrooms, stairs. We got rid of both and can easily use our Dyson for everything. it's true, it never looses suction. We have two dogs and can do the entire 2600 SF house without emptying. that's a lot of fur!

what to say about a Dyson?!

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Expensive but with two cats and a dog it is the only way to go. Dyson lives up to its name for quality! I am amazed at how much more pet hair this picks up that my previous vacuum (and it was not a cheap one either) I gave it four stars rather than five because nothing is ever perfect--but Dyson keeps trying. This sweeper glides eaily on both carpet and tile floors and is light weight enough that it is a breeze to carry. Only complaint is that the cord is too short and therfore I have plug and unplug to move too much while using.
