We installed this cook top when we remodeled our kitchen 8 years ago. Performance has been very good. I cook often (4 to 6 dinners per nigh plus a few breakfast and lunches per week) I've only had one occasion to clean out the gas holes to keep even heating. The stainless steel does scratch and stain more than I expected, but overall the cooktop still looks very nice for the amount of use it has had. The low btu burners are great for simmering or keeping something warm. The high heat btu is good for searing. But I'll admit the 12500 btu is still slow for boiling a large pot of pasta water. We purchased this with kitchen aid dishwasher and double wall oven. The wall oven (top convection) has been great. The dishwasher was terrible and almost made me decide to never use another kitchen aid appliance. But I guess 2 out of 3 isn't too bad.

This cooktop has no reliable guard to stop spills from running down inside the openings for the control knobs. If a pot boils over the liquid can come in contact with the wiring below the surface and cause it to short out. Then the cooktop will make a snapping noise that will not stop even though the burner has been lit. You must you unplug the power cord and light the burner with a match just like an old fashioned stove. The wiring harness can be replaced for about $400 parts and labor. Not happy. Not recommended.

Great cooktop for multi-tasking meal prep

      By ZenMama74

      from Atlanta, GA, United States

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Stainless Steel Gas Cooktop:

This five eye cooktop is great. I like that it has different sized burners so you can match the eye with the appropriate sized pan/pot. Making family meals every day, I find that I use at least two or three simultaneously. For Thanksgiving and holiday meal prep, I can use all five at once. I've been very happy with this product.

Top of the Line Gas Cooktop

      By Dutchmoor

from Round Mountain, TX, United States

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Stainless Steel Gas Cooktop:

I purchased this to replace the same model that we bought when we built our house in 2004 (the original one had a major failure of ignition module and the burner base screws had basically welded tight over the years of use). Rather than try to secure replacement parts and drill out screws, we elected to purchase a replacement. This model was difficult to locate as there have been many changes since 2004. However, we found one online. The conversion to propane was easy, with detailed instructions included. Installation was a breeze because it was an exact fit and match. The new control knob design is a definite improvement - easier to clean. The grates are also improved in design, with the circular openings around a four-prong structure. We are so happy with this model. All of our major kitchen appliances are KitchenAid.

Comments about KitchenAid 36" Stainless Steel Gas Cooktop:

This ccoktop is easy to clean, the grates are at the correct height for optimum heat, the burners are spaced a apart to accommodate big pans and pots. I am amazed at how quickly water can boil and at how low a pot can simmer. Great cooktop!!!
