Energy Star Rated - No

Whirlpool AD35DSS 35 Pint Dehumidifier, Model AD35D

This ENERGY STAR® qualified dehumidifier is ideal for use in very damp areas such as bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms and laundry rooms. Removes 35 pints of moisture per 24 hours in temperatures as low as 55° F.

Features:

  • ENERGY STAR® Qualified
  • AccuDry™ Sensing System
Smarter than average. Whirlpool brand's unique AccuDry™ System revolutionizes air moisture removal. Rather than sensing air moisture levels after dehumidification, like most brands, AccuDry™ senses moisture before it is removed. This allows the dehumidifier to cycle on and off more regularly, providing reliable moisture control. And, the AccuDry™ System exhausts out the back of the unit preventing warm air from blowing directly into the room. Smart innovations to make you more comfortable
  • 35-pint Moisture Removal/24 Hours
  • Operates as Low as 55 Degrees F
  • 2 Fan Speeds
  • Adjustable Humidistat
The adjustable humidity control allows you to choose the dryness of the room for your family's comfort. The dehumidifier will cycle on and off to maintain your selected level of dryness and comfort
  • EZ-Empty™ Front Removable Bucket
The front removable EZ-Empty™ Bucket features side handles that allow you to grasp the bucket for easy removal and emptying without having to move the dehumidifier away from the wall to get at the bucket. The top spout helps keeps water from splattering while you empty the bucket
  • Bucket Full Indicator Light
Our smart dehumidifiers know when they are full. The Bucket Full Light tells you when it is time to empty the bucket and delays operation until you empty it
  • De-Icer
Prevents unit from icing up so that it can continue to remove moisture
  • Easy Rollers™ System
Four rollers are mounted on the base so you can easily move the unit where it is needed most
  • Electrostatic Washable Filter
  • Side Air Discharge

This product is great. It removes so much moisture from the basement that it became very necessary to connect the hose to the drain. Otherwise, we would be dumping the bucket once or twice a day. The product is quiet and compact. The only thing we don't love is that it generates some heat. The room it runs in feels warmer than the rest of the basement. Overall, I would recommend this product.

This unit is quite lightweight and compact. It also has a great appearance. The unit is relatively quiet and extremely efficient. I have not had a chance to connect the line so that I do not have to empty out the water tank, but I am excited to do so very soon. I was getting discoloration on walls due to the humidity in my basement and that has totally stopped. The basement smells quite nice now, too.

This unit cannot be used in the summer in the south. We bought it to remove moisture from out master bathroom and closet. It puts out so much heat that you think that you are running a heater, It does remove moisture and quickly but we find that the removal of moisture is not worth the heat generated.

Placed this dehumidifier in my basement laundry room. Works very well. A little noisy while doing work downstairs in the basement, but can't hear it upstairs. Really like the automatic shut off feature when the water pan gets full. Sometimes I forget to empty water bucket and am happy that I don't have water overflowing all in my basement. Very good unit and great price, glad I chose this dehumidifier! I would buy it again!

For the price, this is the best dehumidifier you can get. Plus, its made by Whirlpool. My basement was very humid and started forming puddles in the summer weather. Now that I have this dehumidifier, I don't have to worry about the wetness. I just leave the setting on normal and it turns on on its own.

I use this unit in our medium-sized basement (approximately 500 square feet), which used to be a little bit dank and moist before I purchased this unit. Now, with this unit on standby mode, our basement has become one of the most comfortable places in our house, especially on those hazy, hot, and humid summer days here in New York City. Highly Recommended!

Well Designed Dehumidifier

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
We've used 2 Whirlpool 40 pint humidifier models in our basement for almost 10 years without any problems. However, one of units recently failed. Extended warranty company stated repairs would exceed replacement, so they authorized replacement whereby, agreeing to pay for 50% cost of a new unit. We figured the 2nd unit may have a limited life and therefore, purchased 2 of the newly designed Whirlpool 35 pint units. While the new units are designed completely different from the previous models, mainly using plastics rather than metal, time will tell if they function equally as well as the old ones. We attach hoses (fed into drains) rather using than the reservoirs which require manual emptying. This new model has a hose attachment that completely bypasses the reservoir. That's a real plus. Tip: On the old units I installed a pleated heating plant filter over the exterior air intake grillwork (held on with bungie straps). This kept the everything inside clean and probably helped extend their life. Years ago I talked with Whirlpool and suggested they install a filter similar to what I had done. Guess what? This unit has an interior removable washable filter. Cool!! All in all, we're hoping the replacement units handle the basement summer humidity as efficiently as the previous units.
