This is our second front loader. The previous was about ten years old. Front loaders are much bigger now. That is a plus.

I noticed some suds still during the final spin cycle. Some websites claimed it was the detergent (Tide).

Unlike our previous front loader, this one recommends a monthly clean cycle and has a pump filter basket to catch things that could damage the pump. This also needs the occassional check.

It is very quiet, a plus since the laundry room is on the first floor, not too far away from the den and family room where we spend most of our time. It also has a multitude of settings that we will probably never use. It is nice to know they are there, but a bit of overkill.

Owned the older version of the same model (6600 vs 6800) and after 3 years is started intermittently not locking up and not turning on. We like the operability of it, but not the dependability. That said we own the dryer and for the great price on ABT it was cheaper to by this replacement vs fixing the old one. All that said, the washer works very well - cleans, spin dries and doesn't tear up the clothes. For the price I recommend it - just get the warranty.

started leaking water upfront 8 months after the expiration of 1 year warranty. could be because of 'made in china' as almost all GE stuff is now, could be defective model. nothing I can do now other than manually trying to repair it (as flooding basement is not an option)

this product is used for washing everyday clothes and accomplishes it well. the recommended washing load was doubled,sometimes tripled and it still does it well. i observed it uses less water and wrings the clothes better saving on drying time. it takes longer to finish the wash cycle (compared to my old top loader) so it might use more electricity. not sure about energy efficiency since its only been about 6 weeks. need to see this reflected on my electric bill.

Product was delivered on a timely manner. It was installed properly. The installation service is recommended if you are not mechanically inclined and dont want to read/learn the instruction manual.

I purchased this item 03/29/07. On Christmas day 2010 the drum stopped spinning. GE repairman came by and determined that the drum was bent which caused the belt to slip off. Not sure how the drum bent unless it is a manufactured flaw. Repair estimate $700. Now in the market for a NEW washing machine. I do not plan on purchasing another front load machine. Capacity is not King size as stated-never could fit a queen size comforter in the machine. Could comfortably hold 10 towels max. (not full body towels but smaller ones). Avoid this product.

This is a large capacity machine, but I wish it could be bigger. I have a lot of drapes and rugs to wash. You must have a balanced load. If the load is not balanced, the machine will not go into high spin speeds. It tries to adjust the load. This is what will add time to the wash cycle. I did three rugs and one of them held more water, than the other two. The machine tried three times to adjust the load before spinning. The final spin was super fast. It took only twenty minutes to dry rugs. The delicate cycle uses more water than the others. You can see the water higher than the door opening. I haven't tried the hand wash cycle. I use only a tablespoon of H.E. detergent.

With three young children we are heavy users. The product performance is outstanding, stacks easily, large capacity, saves space with almost no noticeable vibration! Both washer and dryer have multiple settings for various requirements and both carry the GE name and warranty. It takes a little adjusting to loading from the front and not the top but it's well worth the adjustment.

I read all the review and selected a GE washer and dryer. I initially ordered my products from another vendor who was happy to take my money but never deliver the products as scheduled. I finally cancelling my order and went with Abt...and...I was happy I did! Everything was delivered on scheduled, looked great, and the delivery company personnel did a great job.
