We purchased a full lineup of GE Profile products given the recent GE rebate program. We've been incredibly satisfied with the gas range/oven, microwave, and dishwasher. However, the refrigerator has been a mixed bag.

First the good. The design and SS finish is very appealing and appears to be high quality. The counter depth design has given our kitchen more of a sleek look rather than having a huge boxy appliance hanging out from the counter. The integrated door water/ice dispenser is great and the filtration works very well (no more Brita for us). Interior space and shelf design is excellent. There is ample customizable shelves and a few can partially retract to accommodate very tall items.

Now the bad. This model (and most Profiles I'm learning) are LOUD. It's not continuously noisy, but there are periods of 15-20 minutes when it makes ridiculous chirping sounds that drive me crazy. Sporadically throughout the day and night, there is a chirping sound that closely resembles crickets. I've isolated it to the compressor area and assume it's related to the compressor either starting up, priming, running...who knows, I'm not a fridge repairman! GE must get noise complaints constantly as the manual and website both have extensive sections describing noises and their sources. However, this chirping doesn't fit any of their descriptions and their Customer Service is useless. I exchanged the first unit I received after 1 month due to the noise, and the second unit does the exact same thing. Given that I can't find a comparable fridge (SS, cabinet depth, and price point), I think I'm just going to tough it out. Next time I'm appliance shopping though, GE won't be on the short list.
