It is great to be able to grill indoors without worrying about starting the smoke alarm. The vent works really great and even when I grill fish, nothing gets smelly - not even the kitchen. Problem is the vent is too powerful ---

The grill goes into the left side, and there are 2 burners on the right side. Only the front burner can be used while the grill is on. The back burner will just not get hot enough because the vent (which turns on automatically when the grill or griddle is on) sucks the heat out. Even after 20 minutes, the pan on the back burner did not get hot enough to saute anything. (It did melt butter, but that is all.)

To summarize -- this is great for grilling (or using the griddle) plus the one front burner. Do not expect to use the back burners since they will not get hot enough to cook anything if the vent is on.

Note: I put some recommended accessories in case you still want this even if you cannot use the back burner. You will need to get the grill or griddle to make good use of this appliance. It works great with just those. And if you are not grilling or using the griddle, you will need another 2 burner module, so you have 2 front burners to use (you can use the back burners only if you turn the vent off). Caveat - The accessories are quite expensive. If you buy them all, you'd spend about as much as the cooktop itself.

I called GE about the back burner not getting hot and GE sent a technician. The GE technician said that this appliance has a design flaw. The back burners are rendered useless when the vent is turned on.

If I knew about this before I had it installed, I would have returned it to the store!
