I bought this cooktop less than a year ago. I was looking for one with great features and different temperatures for the burners. This has it all and is great looking in person. It even has a child safety lock for those with children who likes to explore. Worth the money and even my husband who doesn't cook much but does like to cook breakfast on the weekends absolutely loves this top range cause you can move a pot from one burner to the next without worrying that the pot will fall over. Highly recommended. Absolutely love this in the black on black gloss look.

It is great to be able to grill indoors without worrying about starting the smoke alarm. The vent works really great and even when I grill fish, nothing gets smelly - not even the kitchen. Problem is the vent is too powerful ---The grill goes into the left side, and there are 2 burners on the right side. Only the front burner can be used while the grill is on. The back burner will just not get hot enough because the vent (which turns on automatically when the grill or griddle is on) sucks the heat out. Even after 20 minutes, the pan on the back burner did not get hot enough to saute anything. (It did melt butter, but that is all.)To summarize -- this is great for grilling (or using the griddle) plus the one front burner. Do not expect to use the back burners since they will not get hot enough to cook anything if the vent is on.Note: I put some recommended accessories in case you still want this even if you cannot use the back burner. You will need to get the grill or griddle to make good use of this appliance. It works great with just those. And if you are not grilling or using the griddle, you will need another 2 burner module, so you have 2 front burners to use (you can use the back burners only if you turn the vent off). Caveat - The accessories are quite expensive. If you buy them all, you'd spend about as much as the cooktop itself.

GE Profile range 30" top
from Washington state
Comments about GE Profile Built-In Stainless Gas Cooktop:
I purchased the Profile about 9 months ago. I believe one should use the product over a length of time before making a snap evaluation. First off, I am a male, retired and do all the cooking for the family and we entertain often. Although not a chef, I have been involved in the food prep and service industries as well as owning several cafes. I had a GE Profile that; for a home range top was not ideal but adaquate. This replacement is virtually useless unless you just want to put it in place and not use it. (It does look nice). OK, so what do I find objectionable. First and formost, the grates are too high off the flame so it is a waste of fuel and time by the time the pans warm up.Because the flame spread is sideways and not straight up, don't expect for things to quickly get hot. I'm assuming they designed this because they switched the control knobs from the side to the front and the knobs are way too high. If you were to slide a pan toward you, you would catch the knobs every time. In addition, the previous Profile had enameled grates; these are just cast and collect food debris. The grates are spaced too far apart and in my estimation, facing the wrong direction. I have an All Clad small SS pan that I use for melting butter. Set directly over the small burner, it will tip because of the spacing of the grate. Because I saute' and constantly flip food in the pan without the use of utensils, I constantly catch the edge of the pan on the grate. Again because of the grate spacing. I also find that if the burner tops are off center just a touch, the flame spread will be affected. Sometimes they just need to be tapped to get them to work properly. Fortunatly I have a commercial range where I do the serious cooking. Cooking whole salmon, steaming clams or fresh caught crab and cooking for 15 people at a time and all served at once. I have and have had GE products in the past; this one is a diappointment.

Love the kid friendly lock controls and center burner with turbo boil feature. Looks like a professional chef's range top.
Easy cleaning, looks great

We bought this with our other appliances being black stainless steel (cause you can't get this in black stainless) they go together great and we love it, heavy cast iron grates, large surface area for multiple pots/pans and cleans easy and looks great.

We are very pleased with how easy this unit is to use. It's "lit-controls" keep you from leaving the burners on when not in use
Good. It's been 3 months we started using it. We like the ease of using it.
Sturdy and Effective

I bought this gas cook top because I liked the look of it. It operates nicely as well. The center burner gets water boiling very quickly.

This product was in a new home we purchased. I have had several gas stoves in the past, and this one has the lowest performance. It takes a long time to boil water even on the extra output large burner. On the other end it is also hard to simmer foods. The low end adjustments seem to not allow enough gas through the burner and it goes out.
Best cooktop ever
Easy to install, so much more efficient than our old cooktop.
Control knobs are cheap plastic inside
from Cypress, TX
This cooktop came with our new home, and I wouldn't have chosen it if the builder wasn't charging such a premium to upgrade the appliances. The gas control knob cracked inside after under a year and it's apparently a common problem with these.
