About Me Casual Cook
Comments about Danby White Countertop Dishwasher:
I live in an apartment and have very few options when it comes to a dishwasher. This one just happens to fit perfectly in my very very small kitchen. I owned a DDW469 or on of the older models. The only reason I upgraded was because the window (why anyone wants it) leaked really bad. I did everything I could to seal the leak with epoxy and various adhesives with nothing getting the job done so I deiced to by a new model. The old model worked great and was quick. The new model is very very very slow with a 2+ hours for one load of dishes. The first model did not even get the dishes clean so Abt came out and replaced it (I have nothing but good things to say about Abt). The replacement works better but still takes forever to clean a load of dishes. I also hate the controls because you have no idea how much longer until it is done and if something stops the cycle (powers down) you have to start all over. I would get a different dishwasher if it didn't fit my kitchen so well.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Convenient, Works Very Well
from Chicago IL
We use this dishwasher to pre-clean instruments in a dental office before we sterilize them. It works very well for our purposes. We don't like the long cycles. We had an older Danby that had short cycles, and that was great. The cycle length on this model cannot be adjusted other than the 5 presets. Shortest is about 70 minutes.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me Avid Cook
I owned a previous model of this dishwasher for six years. It cleaned like a full size model no less than twice a day EVERY day until the pump gave out. I bought the newer model based on my experience without a second thought. My experience now is a sad one. The sides of the door cracked in less than 30 days leaking rinse agent all over my counter. The dishes remain dirty 2 out of 5 loads. The noise this machine makes is twice that of the older model and it takes much longer to cycle, over two hours in some cases. The unit holds a good amount of dishes for it's size, but for the time it takes this machine to clean them, it makes more sense to wash them by hand. You'll be finished sooner and will certainly have cleaner dishes.Sorry Danby. Normally you make a fine product but this time it doesn't appear to be the case.

Sprung a Leak
from Oakbrook IL
I had a previous Danby that worked well until the window started leaking. So I decided to get a new one. The new one cleans beautifully and works fine except for two things. First, the available cycles are all about 2 hours long if you wanted the water heated. There's no mechanical dial to allow any flexibility with the cycle times. What you get, is what you get. And after three weeks, our new Danby started leaking at the door. [...]. It cleans fine. If you don't mind a 2-hour cycle, and if you're lucky enough that yours doesn't leak, I'd still recommend it.
