We purchased this unit because we wanted a counter-depth refrigerator without external ice/water dispenser. As long as you do not want to actually use the refrigerator, it looks very nice. In use, this unit falls extremely flat.

Foremost, be sure you order the model that you want. This model has gray painted sides, not stainless steel. The model with stainless steel sides is KSCS25MVMK.

Here are some of the many deficiencies of this unit:

- As noted by other reviewers, the ice maker is an awful design. Rather than creating a maker specific to this unit, KitchenAid simply reused parts from their unit that has an in-door ice dispenser. This means that all that space taken up by the dispenser is unavailable for storage in this unit. Instead, there is a huge, inaccessible void underneath the ice bucket.

- In the refrigerator side, the options for placing shelves are limited by the options for placement of the door shelves. The "deep bucket" door shelves can only be hooked in certain places, and they hit the inner shelves if placed wrong.

- The doors do not swing open far enough, causing them to get in the way of the drawers. When a produce drawer is pulled out, it hits the outside door edge, leaving a mark.

- Temperature within the refrigerator side varies greatly by location. Set at 36F, items on some shelves will freeze. Set at 38F, the milk in the door is not cold enough.

- Lastly, there is simply not enough room in this unit for a family of four. We are resorting to putting a second refrigerator in the basement in order to handle a week's worth of groceries.

At first blush, we were somewhat disappointed in our choice of purchase. After living with this refrigerator for nine months, we are now EXTREMELY disappointed in our choice.

I agree with the other review. cannot access ice without ice falling on to the floor. Guests always think it's a pull out ice maker and it confuses them and creates more of a mess. Not cold enough. Overall, not great.

Ice maker fills from top and ice on bottom stays unaccecible for a week and you cannot get it out of ice maker anymore because it gets stuck together. the outside of refrigirator is made of thin stainless steel I exchanged 3 refrigirators because the exterior came dented and in the end I setteled for a dented one because i did not want to exchange for a fourth time. the refrigirator is taller than most on the market whitch led me to believe that I have more room inside and in fact I don't have more usable room because they made the refrigirator taller with the same number of shelves so you end up with more space between shelves not more shelves and you have to pile up stuff between two shelves so you make use of the space.
