Overall very good. I had an old Hoover Wind Tunnel that I liked very much and this is similar. The 360 degree hose and the rollers on the canister make it easier to maneuver than the old one. Also, it is just as easy if not easier to attach/detach items which is important to me. Power cord is long enough and comparable to my old vacuum. Suction is fine. Attachments are fine, although I miss my old rounded brush (I'm still trying to get used to the new thin angled brush.) The only drawback for me is that on my old vacuum the handle had a power on/off switch (in addition to the foot pedal) but this new version does not allow me to control power on/off with the handle. I have to use the foot switch and I find this awkward as I do turn the vacuum off and on frequently while I move about the house, switching attachments etc. I recommend Hoover consider putting back the power on/off switch on the handle when they redesign this model again in future.

This is a very powerful cleaner that will suck the carpet right off the floor. It did a great job on all the carpets in my house. Between the high suction and the Wind Tunnel power head it vacuums up noticeably more pet hair than any of my previous cleaners â€" to the point that I vacuum the hair off power head afterwards. The power head does not have a height setting, but I do not miss it at all. It is convenient to use when general carpet cleaning: the wand connects & adjusts easily and the four wheels allow the unit to roll in the intended direction. The weight is probably about average for this type of cleaner. After this, however, I have a number of issues, some serious. The most serious shortcoming for me is the small "power" head. It works, but being powered ONLY by the vacuum from the hose (a horrible design created to save $) it just does not provide the same kind of rotation to the brush that a motor powered head does. For example, it is way too easy to stop it completely when doing stairs. It works, barely, but this alone makes it difficult for me to recommend the cleaner. The next shortcoming is the bare floor brush. This is harder to figure, as Hoover way overspent on this piece: It has rollers, heavy duty floating brushes and is built like a tank. Unfortunately, it does not pick up well, possibly because it sits too far off the floor and the heavy brushes push dirt away. A lot of angle is needed to get the brush off the floor so it will pick up properly. Also it is too thick and won't go under things like my old unit will. Not a deal breaker, but not a good piece of work. The last big shortcoming is the lack of a wand mounted on/off switch. Why anyone would choose this feature to eliminate to save a few bucks is hard to fathom. Yes, there is a switch on the wand for the carpet head, but I still have not gotten used to using my foot to turn everything on & off. It is just not convenient, and it is wasteful of electricity, as many will just leave it on longer. I knew about this "feature" before I purchased, but in use it is much more annoying than I thought it would be - this would prevent me from buying again. I also have a number of durability concerns, the major one being hose. The canister slipped backwards on the stairs and when I grabbed the hose it stop it the hose separated from the plug in receptacle. I was able to put it back together, but the design is very weak. The hose itself is also made of very light duty material; it already kinked itself in an alarming, folded-over position. I am very doubtful about the long term longevity of this part. In addition, the accessory compartment lid is already sticking, and the cord retractor does not always retract fully. More small complaints: crevice tool is too short, brush tool is too small and there is no storage for the power head or floor brush. All of the above may be the result of trying to make the cleaner too small. Used for vacuuming carpets alone, this is an excellent cleaner. Unfortunately, it just has too many negatives for me to recommend.

Cracks easily and very heavy with wand awkward
In less than 1 year the power sweeper cracked, the wand which is very hard to detach from the hose also cracked requiring 2 repairs. It weigh more than other canisters on the market. It really is clumsy. MY previous hoover never had such cheap plastic and design.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought my vacuum just over a year ago and it's the best I've owned. I used to own a heavy Kenmore and went through my share of Dirt Devils, Sharks and others at comparable prices but find this one to be the best so far. Great suction and easy to handle, great for pet fur too (I'm a husky owner)
Very disappointed!!! Not recommended

We purchased this vacuum in August 2012 due to the good reviews and previous positive experiences with Hoover vacs. However, the power nozzle started working intermittently about two months ago and now it only works if you put your hand on where it attaches to the canister. Not a efficient way to vacuum! Its especially frustrating as we are gone half the year so the vacuum has only been used for about 12 months at most.
Plastic easily cracks and hose is not flexible

I have has to repair or replace parts twice in less than 2 years. Things get stuck in curved handle hose and you have to replace it. Now there are out of stock on wand whosse plastic cracked.

This is the first time I bought a Hoover product, but I am very disappointed. For the money it worth it should be working perfectly and without even smallest issue. I have both this vacuum for Christmas in 2011, after 11 months of use the power nozzle stopped working. I took to t repair shop and they they traced it to the electrical plug where hose connector fits into the bag , it was no longer fixable. After 2 months of waiting I received a brand new unit as a replacement. I was happy that I received a new vacuum and did not have to worry about it any longer. But again after 16 months of use the same problem occurred, the power nozzle died. I took it to the repair shop and after that said it was exactly the same issue as with the first vacuum. Although now the customer service does not want to replace it with a new unit, they want me to repair it. I have less than a year left on my warranty, so after it runs out and my vacuum brakes again I will have to pay out of my own packet to fix it. because if it happened with two units than even after repairing it, the vacuum will not work as it should. I would like to receive a brand new unit but a different model, do not want to own this Wind Tunnel anymore. I wish I could get my money back and never buy Hoover product again.

The suction on this vacuum is great but I'm afraid that is the only good part. The hose kinks all the time. The crevice tool is to short to reach where you need it too. The small beater bar attachment barely spins and I have taken it apart three times already to clean just a small amount of hair off the shaft and last thing is I have had two bags rip apart inside the vacuum but I guess that is because of the great suction. Very disappointed with this vacuum.

Too many repairs!

I bought this vacuum in March of 2011. I have found it to be a strong performer when it works. I am in rural northern NM, and the closest repair facility is close to two hours away. To date, I have had three issues which have required replacing parts which in my experience are poorly engineered and manufactured, but the motor has continued to run strong. Today the motor died and I smelled a burning smell. I will not be loading this vacuum back into my car to take it all the way to the repair facility. The gas to take it in for repair would have paid for a new one, and the really sad part is that we were in Santa Fe just yesterday! I will call customer care on Monday, and it is my hope that they will send me a replacement. If not, they have lost a loyal customer of over 50 years, and I have recommended this vacuum to friends and family who have also had issues with it.

I've had this vacuum for a couple of years. The plastic pieces around the hose connections cracked within the first few months. The vacuum still functioned, but I have to be extremely cautious when I use attachments. Last week I was using the power nozzle on my carpet and it just quit running. I thought perhaps the belt had slipped, so I took off the cover only to discover the belt was still in place. I thoroughly cleaned the power nozzle inside and out, I checked the wiring, then put the unit back together. Still not working. I checked your site for a replacement power nozzle and the replacement is $182.41. I paid only $299.00 for the entire system when I made the initial purchase. I bought this unit based on reviews (at the time) from Consumer Reports. I'm thoroughly disappointed with the machine AND Consumer Reports.
