Overall very good. I had an old Hoover Wind Tunnel that I liked very much and this is similar. The 360 degree hose and the rollers on the canister make it easier to maneuver than the old one. Also, it is just as easy if not easier to attach/detach items which is important to me. Power cord is long enough and comparable to my old vacuum. Suction is fine. Attachments are fine, although I miss my old rounded brush (I'm still trying to get used to the new thin angled brush.) The only drawback for me is that on my old vacuum the handle had a power on/off switch (in addition to the foot pedal) but this new version does not allow me to control power on/off with the handle. I have to use the foot switch and I find this awkward as I do turn the vacuum off and on frequently while I move about the house, switching attachments etc. I recommend Hoover consider putting back the power on/off switch on the handle when they redesign this model again in future.

This is a very powerful cleaner that will suck the carpet right off the floor. It did a great job on all the carpets in my house. Between the high suction and the Wind Tunnel power head it vacuums up noticeably more pet hair than any of my previous cleaners â€" to the point that I vacuum the hair off power head afterwards. The power head does not have a height setting, but I do not miss it at all. It is convenient to use when general carpet cleaning: the wand connects & adjusts easily and the four wheels allow the unit to roll in the intended direction. The weight is probably about average for this type of cleaner. After this, however, I have a number of issues, some serious. The most serious shortcoming for me is the small "power" head. It works, but being powered ONLY by the vacuum from the hose (a horrible design created to save $) it just does not provide the same kind of rotation to the brush that a motor powered head does. For example, it is way too easy to stop it completely when doing stairs. It works, barely, but this alone makes it difficult for me to recommend the cleaner. The next shortcoming is the bare floor brush. This is harder to figure, as Hoover way overspent on this piece: It has rollers, heavy duty floating brushes and is built like a tank. Unfortunately, it does not pick up well, possibly because it sits too far off the floor and the heavy brushes push dirt away. A lot of angle is needed to get the brush off the floor so it will pick up properly. Also it is too thick and won't go under things like my old unit will. Not a deal breaker, but not a good piece of work. The last big shortcoming is the lack of a wand mounted on/off switch. Why anyone would choose this feature to eliminate to save a few bucks is hard to fathom. Yes, there is a switch on the wand for the carpet head, but I still have not gotten used to using my foot to turn everything on & off. It is just not convenient, and it is wasteful of electricity, as many will just leave it on longer. I knew about this "feature" before I purchased, but in use it is much more annoying than I thought it would be - this would prevent me from buying again. I also have a number of durability concerns, the major one being hose. The canister slipped backwards on the stairs and when I grabbed the hose it stop it the hose separated from the plug in receptacle. I was able to put it back together, but the design is very weak. The hose itself is also made of very light duty material; it already kinked itself in an alarming, folded-over position. I am very doubtful about the long term longevity of this part. In addition, the accessory compartment lid is already sticking, and the cord retractor does not always retract fully. More small complaints: crevice tool is too short, brush tool is too small and there is no storage for the power head or floor brush. All of the above may be the result of trying to make the cleaner too small. Used for vacuuming carpets alone, this is an excellent cleaner. Unfortunately, it just has too many negatives for me to recommend.

Love my vacuum!

Comments about Hoover WindTunnel Bagged Canister Vacuum Cleaner:
I have had my Hoover Wind Tunnel bagged vacuum for many years. I love it so much that when the motor died, I replaced the motor and am still vacuuming with it! It is not this newer version, but one from quite a few years ago.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This vacuum cleaner loses efficiency over time, very heavy, parts breakdown quickly.

Worked great ane day & no power the time.
from Ontario, Canada
I have had this vacuum for less than 2 years with no major issue. It worked find the a couple days prior and now for some reason it won't power up or start at all. After reading major of the reviews - I would say it not worth taking in for repairs because its most likely the circuit board with the fuse. Prior to this major issue of not starting - it worked great removing pet hair from the carpet which was the main reason I purchased it. But I didn't like the attachment provided for the hardwood floor. I had adapted another attachment from a previous vacuum cleaner clean the hardwood floors. After reading other reviews and it all of sudden for even turn on - I won't recommend this vacuum cleaner

I have had this vacuum for a few years now and have never made myself sit down and write a review--until today. I had a Futura that lasted 20 years and was hoping that this was going to be a great replacement...not the case. The machine is very cumbersome, partly due to the "swivel" hose which really doesn't swivel well. Therefore, the hose kinks quite often, almost tripping me up. The power head stopped working after about a year, so I now just use this vacuum for hardwood floors and tile. The problem with that is that the floor brush is too wide. You would think that would make the vacuuming take less time, but it doesn't. There is still just the one opening for the dirt to enter, so you have to keep moving the brush over the same area to make sure the dirt finds its way to the opening. The smaller brush on the Futura was much more efficient. The machine is heavy, awkward to maneuver, and a disappointment. I should have patched up the old Futura or invested in another brand.
Three failures in 4 years.
from Bohemia, NY, United States
The first failure was the wand extension mechanism...repaired under warranty. The second failure was the "board" a couple of months past the warranty...paid to repair...about 35% cost of the unit. Third failure, about 4 years in...the two little wheels under the power nozzle broke off. It is such a shame to see what has happened to the Hoover brand. Used to be a Hoover would last 15 years or more. Fewer purchases but much more customer confidence and loyalty. No, Hoover is off my list of well made vac's.

I've had this vacuum for almost two years. It's been great except now the power head is getting no power. Worked great last weekend when I used it
Cracks easily and very heavy with wand awkward
In less than 1 year the power sweeper cracked, the wand which is very hard to detach from the hose also cracked requiring 2 repairs. It weigh more than other canisters on the market. It really is clumsy. MY previous hoover never had such cheap plastic and design.

I bought my vacuum just over a year ago and it's the best I've owned. I used to own a heavy Kenmore and went through my share of Dirt Devils, Sharks and others at comparable prices but find this one to be the best so far. Great suction and easy to handle, great for pet fur too (I'm a husky owner)
Very disappointed!!! Not recommended

We purchased this vacuum in August 2012 due to the good reviews and previous positive experiences with Hoover vacs. However, the power nozzle started working intermittently about two months ago and now it only works if you put your hand on where it attaches to the canister. Not a efficient way to vacuum! Its especially frustrating as we are gone half the year so the vacuum has only been used for about 12 months at most.
Plastic easily cracks and hose is not flexible

I have has to repair or replace parts twice in less than 2 years. Things get stuck in curved handle hose and you have to replace it. Now there are out of stock on wand whosse plastic cracked.
