This is the first large refrigerator we have ever owned and it really works well for us. We have only used it for three weeks or so but we love it. I have seen earlier reviews saying that the fridge was noisy, a criticism I question. I cannot believe how quiet this fridge runs. Our only mistake was not getting the water filtration system included but that was an error on our part. The fridge is elegantly styled and fits perfectly for our lifestyle.

I have had the same problem with leaking as the other reviewers (TWICE now). I hope Whirlpool is paying attention because this is clearly a problem that is not confined to only a few people and the company really needs to address this issue and provide a fix. Water pools at the bottom of the freezer and freezes and eventually the ice gets so thick that it drains out onto the floor. The first time it was fixed under warranty ("drain clog"), this time it was not under warranty so I was determined to fix it myself. What is happening is that the drain under the drip pan (under the freezer coils) is getting frozen over and clogged with ice. Eventually the entire pan fills with ice and then begins to spill onto the freezer bottom, then eventually onto the kitchen floor. This probably first occurred if the freezer door was left partially open which allowed extra condensation to form inside. If you own this product you know this is VERY easy to do...you really have to throw your weight into the door to close it all the way (which is a another complaint in my opinion). Naturally, the drain is not easily accessible and it is not simple to unclog. So, there are two possible fixes: 1) Defrost the freezer. Clearly the simplest way to get rid of ice. If your freezer was anything like mine, there was a ton of ice accumulation so I'd suggest letting it defrost for at least 24 hours. Trust me, this is the easiest method and will yield the same results as fixing it yourself or even having a repairman come out. 2) I only did it this way because I was still trying to figure out the actual problem, so again I suggest just defrosting. But to access the drip pan, you have to take off the freezer door and the racks and take off the back panel inside the freezer. However, you can't take it all the way off unless you remove the ice maker, but it is a flimsy piece of metal so I was able to just bend it to access the pan and expose the coils. You have to chisel what was an INSANE amount of ice (I wish I could post a picture on here) out of all the piping, the pan, and the drain. I realized I couldn't get full access to the drain so I had to remove the back bottom of the freezer to be able to clean the drain from the bottom. More work than it's worth. Bottom line: It's an easy fix so DON'T CALL A REPAIRMAN if not under warranty (unless it is another issue). Again, Whirlpool needs to address this, or at least let customers know of this problem. Seems to me it is a design flaw...there is a tiny little slit in the bottom of the drip pan that spills into a 1/4 inch wide drain. I'm no engineer but that seems like an avoidable problem to me (how easy is it for that small of an opening to get frozen over?). And I'm just speculating about the freezer door being left open causing extra condensation building up, maybe it's a bigger problem. Another irritation is that the temperature control unit is right at the front in the top middle of the fridge and takes up about half of the width of the top shelf. Vertical space on the top shelf is tight anyway, and any taller items (e.g. gallon of milk or a two gallon pitcher) will not fit under that unit, so you have to pull them out from the SIDES, which of course severely limits accessibility. Otherwise, it is an "ok" product. No complaints about performance and it is a sharp looking fridge.

Beautiful design but there are three things wrong with it. 1) The doors do not close tightly all the time. You have to make sure you push them closed. Many times we have come back and found the door slightly ajar and frost building up inside. It does not have a very good sealing system and many other refrigerators we checked out since we bought this one we've found the doors pull themselves shut without effort. This one does not. 2) The freezer drawer does not seal tightly all the time either. Ice builds up on the bottom near the seals and then it becomes hard to close it unless you get on your hands and knees or lay down flat on the floor to reach underneath and clean off the ice build up. This is a pain and should not be necessary. 3) The front surface is not easily kept clean. Spotting easily builds up and you have to rub and rub to clean the metal surface. You need special cleaning cloths or steel spray to keep it looking good but it never looks the same as when you first bought it.

Immediately after delivery, we discovered that the ice machine wasn't working. Waited about a week or so for service and then waited for a replacement maker to arrive then again to have it installed. About two weeks before the one year warranty expired, the ice machine stopped working again. It has since been repaired again. My only other issue is the milk bin isn't wide enough to comfortably accommodate two gallons of milk. They will squeeze in together. If you do this, when you pull one gallon out the other gallon comes with it. It doesn't matter where we get the milk from. Add another quarter inch and it would be fine. How this isn't tested, I don't know. All of that being said, I would still recommend it as it is a good deal for the size, features, and price. I was informed that the ice maker is a new model so I would hope the bugs have been worked out by now. Though, you would hope that they were worked out before going into the fridge. Again, testing anyone?

For many years we had a side by side and loved it except that it couldn't store larger freezer items. This design allows us to now store larger things in the freezer as well as easily move shelves in the top to accommodate just about anything you want to keep cold. Plus the energy saved using it over our 20 year old one is amazing!

It does everything I would expect and it has a bargain price. The doors are light and shut tightly. The left door holds a half gallon of milk and a 1.75 L.bottle of wine and the right door has a six pack dispenser. The fresh food is cold and the frozen food is easy to retrieve.The inside cold water dispenser does not take up any space. It is so well laid out, my fridge looks empty.
