Whirlpool GY397LXUS Stainless Steel Slide-In Electric Range, Model GY397SS

This 4.5 cu. ft. slide-in range features a ceramic glass cooktop with radiant elements. A 6"/9" dual element adjusts to match your pot or pan. Thanks to indicator lights, you'll know when the cooktop is in use. In the oven, the AccuBake® temperature management system surrounds food with even temperatures for consistent results. A Delay Bake and Keep Warm setting assure your food is ready when you need it to be.

Faulty glass

I purchased the range 2 months ago, installed a month ago and used for the first time 2 weeks ago. First time I used it the glass starts chipping away and melting using a brand new perfectly clean steel pot, approved per the instruction manual. A repairman comes out and tells me that this is my fault because I used the wrong pan, then I showed him the pan then he admits that the whirlpool glass range is known for being substandard and cracking easily and that it is never covered under warranty and costs almost as much as the whole range to repair. He stated that it was clearly a thermal crack too, due to the sensor not reading right.

So far so good with the new range. My only request would be that there wasn't a rim around the outside of the surface area. It would make for easier cleaning. Love it!! :-)

I am really enjoying my new range. The eyes heat up so fast and the oven faster than my old stove. I guess if there was one thing I could change it would be how to preset the oven to turn on when I am gone. It takes me a little longer than I would like to get it set but once I do it works great. We come home every Sunday to a nice hot lunch.

I love this range. Looks great in our new kitchen. Cooks quickly and evenly no issues with performance. Only one flaw I've found so far is the drawer on the bottom doesn't sit flush with the bottom of the oven part. There is a large gap between the two that takes away from the finished look of the oven. Other than that it's great.

We bought this for a kitchen remodel and needed controls on the front. Perfect match for us. It is very nice looking. The cook top surface is very hard to keep clean vs my old one, but the key is to spray Weimans after using. Use the cleanser when needed. The oven is big and roomy. The under drawer is a bit flimsey to use but don't overload it and it will be fine. The controls are easy to use. My seven yr old grandson even got the hang of it.
