The unique pitcher shape, patented blade and powerful 0.9 horsepower motor provide fast, consistent blending that can crush a pitcher of ice within seconds. Features:

Patented stainless steel blade tines are positioned on four different planes for fast, thorough and consistent blending. Blade assembly is built into pitcher for easy handling and cleanup.
Commercial-quality, steel-reinforced coupler with 12 interlocking teeth provides direct transfer of motor power to the blade.
Built for continual blending. Advanced airflow design keeps blender cool during continued use.

HOLD ON TIGHT!

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

This product is great. This is probably the best piece in my kitchen. It is very well made and its all motor. I make protein shakes and I use frozen strawberries and ice with no problem what-so-ever. I love the fact that the controls are so very easy to use, plus it gives you several options. As a matter of fact, the motor is so powerful, that when you are using the "crush ice" button, you can't walk away; because as tight as the lid fits, and it's tight, while its crushing whatever frozen item you put in there, on each pulsation the lid slowly tries to pop off. Its powerful people. Another plus is that when you are done, the pitcher comes right off and washes out very easily. I have had several people over and made them smoothies, they were very impressed. Now they will be looking into getting the KitchenAid 5. This was the only one out of six blenders that actually obliterated a whole apple into a smoothie until there were no pieces left. None of the other blenders comperable to this one could do that. That was the main reason I picked the Kitchenaid 5. I also got it at a good price. If your going to invest, get the Kitchenaid 5, that way you won't be buying another one years later. I have not run into any problems or negatives about this blender.

This thing is sturdy as heck. Its pitcher is rock solid and thick and virtually unbreakable. It's all one piece, meaning no more taking apart the bottom blade, rubber O ring, etc. Only the top is separate. It's dishwasher safe, too.

The first few times I used this blender I would have given it 5 starts. It has a good amount of power, I like the size of pitcher & ease of cleaning it, as well as how it looks. However, after using it the first few times everytime I blend something it leaks. The blade seems to be loose, though we've tighten it several times it still leaks all over everytime I use it. It does an okay job at blending, though it's certainly not smooth, but I mainly make fruit smoothies with it & a little chunky is okay. Overall I'm disappointed.

So far I've mostly used this product to make fruit smoothie/shakes. It has done a superb job. My only complaint might be it doesn't deal real well with froz. strawberries, but that might be because I needed to add a little more liquid. It works great cruching ice and will do the strawberries if they thaw a little. I plan to use it for salad dressings and many more things but haven't yet. It is very easy to clean and seems very well made and sturdy. I have only had it about a month so can't really report on a long term use kind of thing.

Wonderful Blender

I bought this blender a couple of months ago and use it almost every day to make smoothies and blend salad dressings. I really enjoy it! The best part about the blender is the blade and the pitcher are all one unit, so to clean I just add about a cup of hot water and a little dish washing soap and hit the liquify button for about 10 seconds and rinse! No taking the unit apart to clean. The buttons on top you just wipe clean since there are no cracks for spills to leak in to. It breaks up ice and frozen fruit very nicely and makes perfect smoothies. I did a lot of research before purchasing this product and know I made the right choice!

Old one broke so I researched and bought this one. Now I can compare. Total pros: No cavaties so nothing gets stuck and spills into them. Easy clean up, just rine with warm water and be done. Large sturdy plastic jar (but light) with spout, so no-spill pouring. Large capacity, fits enough for my family of five. Really strong, you really can make snow and have snow cones within seconds right from the ice cubes. So strong it whips everything creamy. No pieces ever. Just flat out great and the best price with ABT on the net.

Bought this blender for my wife, who makes a lot of cold fruit soups. Our old blender, a classic household Osterizer, just wasn't up to the task. This blender on the other hand, liquifies and blends frozen fruit, yogurt, ice cream, ice, etc. quickly and with no trouble. It's a world of difference. We're very pleased!

My previous blender left lumps in the protein shakes I make. This one will take a barely-ripe lemon, difficult to cut with a knife, and turn it into a smoothie! Solid construction with an unbelievably durable polycarbonate pitcher.

I love it!

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

So far I have mainly used this to made iced cappuccino's and it has been flawless. I make at least 3 a day for the last 3 weeks using standard ice cubes and it shredded it perfect. I've also made smoothies using frozen slices of banana's and strawberries and it goes through them like nothing. The only other was I've used it was to chop pickles to put in a tuna sandhwich meat and it worked great at that too. I just dropped pickles one by one in the hole on top and presto! Got finely chopped pickles! I do have to say I at times have smelled the motor (like a slight burning smell) when initially crushing the ice but I'm slowing starting not smell anything anymore. Maybe it just needed to break in. The motor is loud but how quiet do you really expect a blender to be? It's doing was it was meant to do. So far it was worked great for me and I love it!

KitchenAid 5-Speed Blender performance

This blender makes quick work of frozen strawberries and other frozen fruits in smoothies. The frozen fruit is easily pulverized and completely liquified within seconds. Cleanup is a snap with the one piece pitcher. No more removing the blade and gasket to clean up. This is the most powerful blender I have ever used.

Needed a blender and saw a review from Cook's Illustrated - the KitchenAid 5 speed was their top pick. Note: there are three different price point versions of this blender, but I found out from the company that they're all the same on the inside (same motor etc.), just different exteriors. I've used this blender 2-3 times/day for the past three weeks primarily for making smoothies with ice, fruit and skim and it works really great. Super easy to clean - just rinse and clean inside with a sponge and soapy water. Very happy so far. A++.

Cons:	Noisy but it's a blender

Best blender I've ever owned

My last blender couldn't make a smoothie unless I was stiring the food in the blender at the same time as blending. I decided after I crushed the 3rd spoon, time for a new blender. This one is great. It's powerful, has a large pitcher so you will always be able to make a large serving, and Ilove the color and the supporting breast cancer research!

I love the empire red blender to match my other Kitchen Aid appliances. This blender is the bomb! It is very powerful but can perform any task in a minimal amount of time. The only draw back is the noise - but I have a houseful of 5 kids - so it blends right in for us! Would highly recommend to others - and ABT had the best price anywhere! Thanks for such a great product and super service!

Love this blender

The first thing I made was a smoothy. It crushed the ice, mixed the ingredients all in the blink of an eye. The clean up was a breeze, just put a drop of dish soap in the blender, added a little water, pushed a button, rinsed and I was done. Love it, love it, love it.

We had a 3 speed Kitchenaid blender and upgraded to the 5 speed because we remodeled our kitchen and wanted a new color. We had zero problems with the old one after several years, and the new one is a better design and works great. This one seems like it will last for years with most of the parts attached now. Less chance of losing the smaller pieces. It looks great too! Great countertop appliance for those with stainless appliances. Fits in perfectly!
