I like the features of this dishwasher, especially the upper silverware container. It allows you to put in spoons and forks without opening the door wide open. It is much quieter than my old dishwasher and the dishes come out clean! Something you should know..., if you are like me and don't like to use a heated dry cycle, you need to open the door after the machine concludes the cycle and leave it open for 3-5 minutes. You will find the dishes will be nice and dry. Don't do this and they will be wet. So be patient and you'll save time and electricity!!!

One of the selling points for us was the in-the-door silverware basket with "dedicated silverware jets". We thought that it would leave us with so much more space. Well, if the silverware basket has a decent amount of silverware in it the soap doesn't come out of the soap dispenser. The little that does drips down the door and gets on the silverware (sometimes doesn't rinse off all the way), but what is left stays right where it started out. (I called the store I bought it from and they said we are not the first to complain about this, and this is a brand new, just released dishwasher! Not good to have this big of an issue right off the bat!) The only way to fix it is to move the silverware basket. And although I can do that, the point of this was to have more space! Moving it defeats that purpose. The first two weeks not one dish dried in this dishwasher. We couldn't figure it out. We used a rinse agent in addition to our soft water plus we tried all of the settings to see if it would change anything. A repair man came out and told us to turn up our water temperature. So another downside is that we had to turn our water temperature up all the way to get the dishwasher to "dry". And they are still nowhere near dry. They are still fairly wet. Lots of water on top of things, which then drips all over everything else when you go to put the dishes away. The reason that is a downside is we have small children and turning up the temp means that our small ones can get burned just by turning on the hot water (burning temp is almost immediate now). Our previous dishwasher (Also GE) lasted over ten years, being used multiple times a day, without a problem and we were able to have our water temp where we were comfortable and the dishes dried just fine with that. The dishwasher is pretty and looks like I would expect any dishwasher to look on the exterior. So nothing good or bad there. Not loving this. Will be returning. I haven't decided if I'm going to chance another GE, hoping that this just wasn't tested enough instead of a sign of a changed-for-the-worse-brand or try a totally different brand.

This machine merely sanitizes dishes. You have to hand wash them before putting them in the machine. It's also very loud and takes about 2.5 hours to run the "normal" cycle. I've had mine for 3 years and parts are already failing. Every cycle produces a loud high pitched whistle for about an hour of the cycle. My house is 4,100 sqft and I can hear it clearly in every room. On the plus side, it was easy to install, even with my rudimentary knowledge of plumbing.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We bought this dishwasher about 4 months ago. I like the stainless steel interior & it is very quiet.
reasonable cleaning for water efficiency

As long as the dishes are fairly clean when they go in, the dishes come out clean. But I understand there is only so much GE can do when California has established limits on how much water they can use, and it isn't enough to clean really dirty dishes. Larger pieces of food such as wide noodles come out really clean, but still attached to the plate, and silverware with dried on cereal, for example, will not come completely clean, so I end up pre-washing/rinsing everything. Bottom racks are great if you are eat a lot of take out, or pre-made meals, lots of room for plates, but if you actually cook, and have lots of pots and pans, it's difficult to get them in. Love how quiet this machine is over our previous dishwasher, and plenty of racks for silverware and utensils, which is very nice. Timer feature was a must for us so we could run the unit in the middle of the night.

Great Cleaning and Super Quiet Operation
from Middle Georgia
It's amazing how quiet this dishwasher is while doing an excellent job of cleaning our dishes, pots and pans and silverware. Also easy to load with common sense baskets and additional racks for special type glasses and utensils. The abundant modes of washing, rinsing and drying cycles make it easy to adjust this dishwasher to your needs.

I replaced a dishwasher that was over 10 years old and the old dishwasher worked better than this junk. I relied on evaluation from Consumer reports . Dishes are dirty. Silverware rack is poorly located. The machine is not 2 years old and heating element needs to be replaced.

Works great, energy efficient, glasses slant sometimes don't like that much. Very Happy with the product on the whole.
