Comments about Electrolux Island White Gas Dryer:
Automatic drying feature works well and saves energy vs. our old dryer. I found the lint screen to be much finer than others I have used so it keeps lint in the screen instead of allowing it into the exhaust vent. Reversible doors on this model and the companion washer were key reasons for our purchase due to our laundry room configuration.I wish the drum light stayed on a little longer. When folding a large load it will go out before I finish and the drum is so deep it is hard to see the clothes that are still in the drum. Otherwise I am completely satisfied with this dryer.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Fabulous Dryer!I must note however that when drying loads that are smaller in size the "automatic" feature is unreliable. This is likely due to the size of the dryer versus the number of items to dry. It SEEMS that the items being dried do not set off the moisture sensors, hence the machine thinks the load is dry.The solution to this is to use the "timed" drying function.This machine is PERFECT for my bedding from my king sized bed, and vastly outperforms any other unit I have ever used. For a guy who seems to have a "laundry fetish" I can think of no better half of a washer/dryer pair than this Electrolux Dryer!

I bought this dryer in march and a few weeks later I started noticing black marks on my clothes. At first I thought I had left something in and that it somehow overheated and stained the clothes, but it got worse and worse. Then I realized that inside the unit, all the way in the back, there is a panel (grill) where the hot air comes from, and that thing was black and with something that looked like melted plastic! I called Abt and they sent a guy who thought I had left something inside and told me to use sandpaper to clean it out. Well, so I did and a couple of loads later, there was again the black plastic marks on my clothes. I had another guy come over and he said that I shouldn't have used the sandpaper because I ruined the coating on that panel, and that now it will rust! I finished up with my loads after he left, and I used the high temp setting (I used to use the high temp, and the "more dry" sensor cycle in my previous machine and the worst that happened was that I shrunk clothes, never anything like this), this time the dryer melted my underwear and my daughter's dance outfit. It also ruined more of our fleeces, including my baby's pj's. [...] Well, the brand new part is already getting black, and this time at just the medium setting. I called Abt again, and they contacted Electrolux; I have to wait now 2-4 days to see what they say. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I googled this problem and found out that other people had the same issues. I just don't want this anymore, but I have to wait for Electrolux to "decide" what they want to do. They can't pay me enough for all the time, trouble and frustration this is causing me and my family; I am super stressed out by this, but I thought that if my experience can help at least one person, then it was worth spending the 5 minutes writing about it here. Good luck!p.s. this dryer doesn't have the Sensor Drying feature that most others do, so clothes end up being a little damp too...stained with melted fabrics from other clothes in the load, but slightly damp nonetheless!!!
