Garmin Nuvi 765T GPS Navigation System, Model 0100071520

Take the right way on the highway with nüvi 765T, featuring lane assist. This feature guides you to the proper lane for navigation. The 765T adds hands-free calling to the nüvi 765T. Like the rest of the nüvi 705-series, this advanced navigator comes with premium features including 3-D building view, photo navigation, faster screen redraws, route planning, emergency and car locators and much more.

Features:

Know the Lane Before It’s Too Late
nüvi 765T takes navigation to the next level with lane assist. No more guessing which lane you need to be in to make an upcoming turn. Lane assist guides you to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit, making unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate. It realistically displays road signs and junctions on your route along with arrows that indicate the proper lane for navigation.

Get Turn-by-Turn Directions
nüvi 765T's intuitive interface greets you with two simple questions: "Where to?" and "View Map." Touch the color screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names to your destination. It comes preloaded with detailed City Navigator® NT street maps, over 6 million points of interest (POIs) and features digital elevation maps and 3-D building view in some areas to help you orient yourself with your surroundings. You can also upload custom points of interest (POIs). With HotFix™ satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker, and its ultra-fast map redraw ensures a smooth user interface.

Make Hands-free Calls
For hands-free calling, nüvi 765T integrates A2DP Bluetooth® wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker. Just pair it with your compatible Bluetooth phone and talk hands-free through the 765T while staying focused on the road. Simply dial numbers with nüvi's touchscreen keypad to make a call. To answer calls, just tap the screen and speak into its built-in microphone. Enjoy convenient one-touch dialing for contacts and points of interest. Even listen to high-quality stereo music on your headset with A2DP Bluetooth technology.

Avoid Traffic Tie-ups
Steer clear of traffic with nüvi 765T's integrated FM traffic receiver. Receive alerts about traffic delays and road construction that lie ahead on your route. Next, simply touch nüvi's screen to view traffic details or detour around the problem area.

Find Yourself, Your Car
Keep track of yourself and your car with nüvi 765T. Just tap the "Where Am I?" emergency locator to find the closest hospitals, police stations, fuel stations, nearest address and intersection. Also see your exact latitude and longitude coordinates. nüvi 765T even remembers where you parked. It automatically marks your position when you remove it from the windshield mount, so you can navigate with nüvi on foot and find your way back to your vehicle. Perfect for unfamiliar spots and crowded lots such as amusement parks, stadiums and malls.

Plan Ahead
nüvi 765T includes advanced navigation features to take the worry out of traveling. With route planning you can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on the 765T's wide screen. In addition, nüvi 765T automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, deliveries or sales calls. It also displays speed limits for highways and Interstates. A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.

With nüvi 765T's widescreen display, you'll always get the big picture. View map detail, driving directions, photos and more in bright, brilliant color. Its sunlight-readable, 4.3-inch display is easy to read — from any direction.

Take It With You
Like the rest of the nüvi 705-series, nüvi 765T sports a sleek, slim design and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot.

Go Beyond Navigation
Navigation is just the beginning. nüvi 765T includes many “must have” entertainment and travel tools including MP3 player, audio book player (subscription to Audible.com required), world travel clock, automatic time zone transition, currency converter, unit converter, calculator and more. With nüvi 765T's wireless FM transmitter¹ you can hear audio, including voice prompts, MP3s and audio books, through your vehicle's stereo. Show off photos of your travels with nüvi's picture viewer. Download Google® Panoramio™ pictures via our Garmin Connect™ Photos website and navigate to them. The 765T is compatible with optional enhanced MSN® Direct content and our free Garmin Garage where you can download fun icons that show your location on the map. It also comes with Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature. Enhance your travel experience with optional plug-in SD™ cards such as Garmin Travel Guides for detailed data on attractions.

Great GPS!
By Harry from DFW on 03/6/2009.
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy Menus, Reliable Performance, Large Screen, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Simple Controls
Describe Yourself: Casual User
Best Uses: Finding Specific Address
How are you with directions: Great w/Directions
The internal POI database is way out of date for the DFW area, but other GPS manufacturers are no better. Custom POI's are fairly easy to add, and Garmin's interface with Google maps makes adding Favorites very easy.

Describe Yourself: Casual User
Best Uses: Finding Specific Address, Planning Trips, Rural Navigation
Pros: Large Screen, Compact, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Reliable Performance, Easy Menus, Simple Controls
It worked better for us in rural areas of Tennessee than in Atlanta. I presume constant road construction is a problem. "Traffic Receiver" lifetime subscription ads were not intrusive. I wish Garmin would provide modes/maps for marine and topo and transportable long life battery pack for true versatility.

Pros: Reliable Performance, Easy Menus, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Set Up, Simple Controls
Cons: Short Battery Life, Inaccurate

The free lifetime traffic feature is great for the daily commute. The lane assist feature is a saving grace for freeway driving. It is sometimes slow to recognize mergers onto freeways. There are not enough categories on the points of interest.

Excellent GPS. Only cons are that the blue tooth when using my cell phone did not work consistently. Also, FM Transmitter for playing MP3 had static (music sounds more like a radio than an MP3 player). But, I would only use this if I was renting a car without a CD/MP3 Player

Absolutely love this Garmin! The turn by turn directions, the detour and the traffic are awesome additions to this product. It was very easy to set up, and easier to use. The directions with street names is especially helpful for me since I am terrible with directions. The mp3 player and traffic are other features that I love. This product is definitely worth the money!

How are you with directions: Great w/Directions
Pros: Large Screen, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls, Easy To Read, Compact, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Set Up
Cons: Poor FM Transmitter, Difficult Menus
I'm very happy with this unit. The maps are very easy to read and the voice instructions are clear -- plus they occur at just the right times to keep me going in the right direction. I like the 3D (actually, perspective) display, not just because it is cool, and not just because it matches better what I see: The nice thing is that the area just in front of you is shown in greater detail, so that (for example) names of upcoming streets are available. I also like the small size and the mounting arrangement. It takes me less than five seconds to pop it out of my dashboard mounting, slip it into its case (which I purchased separately) and drop it in my pocket. Problems: * As noted by everyone, the FM transmitter is not really usable in a metropolitan area. It does not override even distant signals. * When I finish doing something in the menus, it seems like I have to press Back ad nauseum to return to the map. * I don't drive fast enough, it appears. ETA estimates are always pretty optimistic. I'm not sure they consider anything other than the road's speed limit (for example, traffic lights and stop signs). But in spite of these I'm very positive about the unit.

outstanding, simply outstanding! instant recalculations, and the TMC working in the background to recalculate around traffic problems needs to be experienced (if you're even able to realize that it's done the job!). terrific features but doesn't pair with all bluetooth devices including integrated resident vehicle audio systems. hopefully garmin will address in future!

Pros: Easy Menus, Easy To Read, Large Screen, Easy To Set Up, Compact
Describe Yourself: Enthusiast
Best Uses: Finding Specific Address, Faster Routes
Cons: Notice not advance enough
I use it for shortest time on travels and to see how traffics ahead to my destination. Like the advance distance ahead that I have, before my next turn. Most of all use it to find specific adresses in my county.
A great upgrade for me.

Best Uses: Urban Navigation, Planning Trips, Finding Specific Address, Rural Navigation
I use the unit to find addresses mostly. And while it occasionally butchers the name of a street it is telling me to turn on, it is a tremendous improvment over my previous Garmin. The portable size means I will now be able to travel with my own GPS which is a real plus over renting one everytime I get a rental car. I am also very pleased with it's functionality. The blue tooth connection to my cell phone allows me to easily place calls as I drive and eliminates the need to have a hands free ear plug when I drive around.

This model turn on very fast, after I receive the unit I send a email to support and I receive a email about the necessity to update the unit before register. This will be the most important thing because it was necessary to update the unit. If you register the unit no more than 60 days after you bought the unit you are able to get a free map's update. With this unit you can find a place in Garmin Connect and transfer to the unit and go there !!!. The 3d feature is very nice, but at this moment only big cities has this. I bought this model for many reasons, but one of then was the traffic alert for the life of the unit!!!!. Four times advice to me about the problems in the traffic, In the beginning I not trust that, but the advice was right because I see it was a lot of traffic!!! You can go to map quest and get directions and transfer to your Garmin unit !!!, with this you can personalized your trip !!!!. You can see an entire map of your trip, this is very great. The bluetooth function works great, My cellphone pair with this unit very fast.

The Garmin 765T is a step up
By Wayne from New Bern, NC on 12/25/2008.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy Menus, Compact, Simple Controls, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Read, Large Screen
Describe Yourself: Enthusiast
How are you with directions: Great w/Directions
Cons: Short Battery Life
Best Uses: Urban Navigation, Planning Trips
The 765T does everything a bit better than the 6xx series. It shows your vehicle speed and time of arrival on the main screen - very nice. Lane assist should be nice but it doesn't work anywhere in my area of eastern NC. So I went to NY City and it didn't work there either. I have yet to see it. The pictures of buildings in urban areas works OK but I have only simulated it. Wash DC shows lots of detail. Nothing where I live. The ability to download geo-referenced photo's doesn't work well. You can do it and probably have 20 to 30 in your area. But everytime you try to go to a Favorite, you have to page through most of them if they are closer. Frustrating. They need their own folder in "Where to". The black color is better than the old silver. Doesn't reflect off the windshield. The ability to make custom routes is the best feature. Now you can preplan. Would I buy again? No, not unless I needed updated maps and buying new cost little more. I would wait for the 865 which is non-existant. That would be this software with speech activation. They must be developing it right now. That's the one I want. The 880 is just an updated 780 without some of the features above. A nice unit but not much of an upgarde unless you live near a major interstate/large city where all the features work.

The product worked great for me. The lane assist feature was quite helpful. My only disappointment was the seemingly slow satellite acquisition. The menus are intuitive and I found teh places of interest usefule several times during my first use of the unit.
Excellent GPS with cool features
By Brolu from Woodbury, MN on 12/25/2008.
Cons: Acquires Satellites Slowly, Short Battery Life
How are you with directions: Bad w/Directions
Describe Yourself: Casual User
Pros: Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Compact, Reliable Performance, Large Screen, Easy Menus, Simple Controls
Best Uses: Finding Specific Address, Urban Navigation, Rural Navigation, Faster Routes, Planning Trips
The product is a boon to me. I am not very well with directions and this product just takes the stress out of me. The lane assist feature is nifty although it shows only at some places. The GPS has some cool features especially the FM transmitter through which you can hear the turn by turn directions over the radio. The worst part is that the product takes some time to acquire the satellite signal for the first time its started or if it has been switched off for a long time. All said and done, I would give a thumbs up to buy this product.

Pros: Large Screen, Compact, Easy Menus, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Read, Simple Controls, Easy To Set Up, Reliable Performance
I use it every day, even when I know the directions. To be able to constantly see the speed limit on the unit is great. Having the traffic alerts as part of the deal is great and seeing the estimated time of arrival helps me not get nervous about arriving late.
Does what it's supposed to do
By mmmm from ny on 12/24/2008.
How are you with directions: Great w/Directions
Pros: Reliable Performance, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Large Screen, Compact
Best Uses: Rural Navigation, Finding Specific Address
The GPS works well but the menus require lots of clicks to get where you want to on them. Volume control should be right on the screen always. If the radio is on and you want to make the GPS louder you have to take your eyes off the road to scroll through 3 screens. A home button should be on the main screen as should a cancel navigation button. Also, the Garmin should beep just before you have to make a turn. If there are several streets close together, exacatly where to turn can be confusing. We had a Magellan that beeped just before the turn. It was easy, hear the beep, turn. On the plus side, it's small with a large screen. It gets you where you want to go, easily, finds addresses quickly, and has a very good secure mount. It gives you elevation, which is a fun thing, as our Magellan did. All and all it's a very good unit, but no better than our previous old Magellan.
Easy operation...Good Unit
By Cobra from Chicago, IL on 12/23/2008.
Describe Yourself: Enthusiast
Best Uses: Finding Specific Address, Planning Trips
How are you with directions: Great w/Directions
Cons: Inaccurate, Traffice Information
Pros: Reliable Performance, Easy Menus, Large Screen, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Read
I use this product for frequent business trips. PROS: Easy to use, links up quickly with Satellite, Nice bright display CONS: Exiting shopping centers, parking lots tend to confuse unit until you are on the designated road or highway. Included traffic information via FM is limited. Overall: Good operation with easy controls. Update is done with USB cable connected to computer. Mapping update is ONLY good for 60 days after registration/purchase.
Save Your Money - Go with the 755T
By Micky the Good from Baltimore/Metro DC area on 12/22/2008.
Pros: Compact, Large Screen, Reliable Performance, Easy To Set Up, Simple Controls, Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy Menus, Easy To Read
Best Uses: Finding Specific Address, Urban Navigation
How are you with directions: Great w/Directions
Cons: Inaccurate
Describe Yourself: Power User
Generally speaking, this product performs great! I've found a few minor errors (mispelled roads/towns, incorrect speed limit postings, etc.), but otherwise I've been very happy with it. Except for one thing...the FM traffic isn't worth the extra money. I live in one of the most highly congested areas of the country, and was hoping that this would help me get around the traffic on some of the worse days. I do better with a simple traffic report from the radio station and good knowledge of the back roads. Save your money. Buy the 755T. It has just about all of the same features, except for the FM traffic.

By B-Town Native from Bartlett, Illinos on 12/20/2008.
Pros: Compact, Simple Controls, Large Screen, Easy To Read, Easy Menus, Acquires Satellites Quickly
Describe Yourself: Enthusiast
Best Uses: Finding Specific Address
How are you with directions: Great w/Directions
Cons: Inaccurate
I have owned this product for about 3 weeks and this is my first GPS device. I am happy with the product but being a Chicagoland native I am sometimes scepticle with the routes that I am given. With that being said I realize that no product is perfect. I am however displeased that when on a tollroad, such as I90 the device will guide you thru a toll booth when it is not nesessary. Though this device will never get you lost I feel that some of the routes given are not the best.I am pleased with the high contrast ratios and fast refresh rates. The display is very desirable and has a nice footprint. I do however have one question to ask. This device is supposed to have free live traffic and I do not understand how it works. Is it automatic?? Given the fact that no device is perfect I would recommend this device to anyone who's clueless to where they are heading.
