awesome vacuum cleaner
from Frisco, TX, United States
Comments about Hoover U5458-900 WindTunnel Upright Vacuum Cleaner:
I bought this vacuum cleaner about 8-9 years ago. I totally agree with " dirt grimace". the only problem I had with it was wearing the belts out, in particularly (40201170) Style 170. With a little preventive maintenance this vacuum cleaner is a work horse that has gone the distance and then some. It is still working and no plans to replace it anytime soon.

Self propelled easy to use
By Dirt Grimace

My wife and I have had the self propelled U6630900 for about 8 years. We use it about twice a week and it works well for us. We decided to go with self propel to save ourselves a little energy because we vacuum so much (3 kids & 3 dogs = dirty). My review pros Self propel works good on carpet and it does make it easier on your shoulder and your hips pushing it around the house. It has great suction across the 15 inch agitator brush roll for single pass debris pick up. And comes with the attachments to clean the cobwebs off the ceiling and the dog hair off the couch. Cons Cleaning the canister and filter is my job and I don't like it. It picks up debris/dog hair/dirt so well it fills it up once a week. But I did not want a bag style vacuum because we would be going through so many bags. So I suck it up an clean it. Ya vacuum humor. Ok Long human hair is every vacuum manufacturers brush roll nightmare. If you do not get the hair off the brush roll eventually it will find its way into the brush roll end bearings so the con here is I have to pull the brush roll out at least once a month to make sure I get all the hair off so it doesn't ruin the bearings. Mechanically it has done very well except for the idler arm that actuates the forward reverse self propel. I believe the cable that is mounted on the handle down to the idler arm was not adjusted correctly from and manufacture and allowed the arm to be broken while pulling the vacuum backwards. So when I replace the idler arm I adjusted it correctly and have not had a problem with it. Conclusion There is a slight learning curve on the self-propelled vacuum in tight areas just because it has one speed forward one speed reverse so if you're not ready you can bump into the walls a little bit. Would I buy another self propelled vacuum yes. All vacuums need preventative maintenance to last and when we bought this particular model we planned on keeping it for 10 years or as long as the motor kept working. We are going to buy a new one and use this one as a back up but it's days of use aren't over it will be in the garage vacuuming out our cars and at lest 2 dogs that like to be vacuumed. So hope that help.

my vacuum is 8 years old and going strong. I am ordering replacement parts for the first time ever. (other than bags and belts) I use it almost everyday. my house is half hardwood, half carpet.

Doesn't pickup very much. Will not pick up pet hair and most anything on the carpet. I bought these because I had such a great experience with the Concept 1 vacuum. A real workhorse and easy to disassemble, no tools needed. Always picked up with great power. This vacuum is a real disappointment
