Best Detector on the Market

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
This is not as loud as the 8500 x50 but does perform as well (if not better). I like how there are no false alerts anymore so if it goes off you know there is a LEO out there.
Best Uses: City Driving, Highway Driving
Pros: Good Sensitivity, Neat Features or Extras
Cons: Not as loud

I use this item for everyday driving. I've owned it for 3 weeks, and it's been generally useful. However, the K-Band alert has periodically gotten jammed (i.e. starts but won't stop), requiring me to restart the device.
Best Uses: City Driving, Highway Driving
Pros: Durable, Good Sensitivity, Friendly Voice Warnings, Easy To Mount, Neat Features or Extras, Versatile, Clear Alert
Cons: Gives False Reads, K-band alert gets stuck

GPS feature a bonus. Great to be able to automatically silence the false alerts on your frequent routes. Directionality like with the Valentine One would be a big plus. Poor alert from the rear.

Escort has a winner...

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
The 9500ix may be an expensive radar detector but it performs leaps and bounds over my older Cobra. There is literally no comparison. I live in a rural area where there are very few cars on the roads. With my old Cobra, early warnings were far and few as it wouldn't detect any radar until it was within a mile or in plain sight. The 9500ix appears to be very sensitive and can detect signals from MUCH farther away. I picked up KA band from over 4 miles away today. I initially thought that it was a false reading as there was only one vehicle in front of me and nothing else in sight, but sure enough, a highway patrol came over the crest of the hill after several minutes of driving 70mph. That kind of early warning is what makes this detector top notch. City driving is also much different with the 9500ix than with my Cobra. I have not had a chance to test it with a red light camera, as there are none where I live or drive on a normal basis. The GPS feature is very nice as when it does recognize a potential false alarm, after isolating the signal 3 different times, it will block it so you don't have to hear the alert each time. On my trip to work, there is an Albertsons store that always tripped my Cobra. It also tripped my 9500ix... until the 3rd pass by it. The detector beeped and the display said "STORED". Now when I drive that route, I no longer have to listen to an annoying beep twice a day. I initially used the suction cup mount and the included 12V DC Smartcord. The suction cup mount worked great for the couple weeks I had used it before getting a solid mount kit. They stick to the windshield very well and did not fall a single time. The Cobra suction cup mount I used to have constantly fell. I also swapped out the Smartcord for a hardwire install which is very easy to do.

I used to own the 8500x and it was good but the 9500xi just makes it obselete. In 2 days it has elimanated all false alarms. The No X mode is the best. It doesn't go off by shopping malls anymore. I still have to see the red light camera function in action. All in all this is by far the best radar detector on the market!
