Poorly designed and mftrd

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Do not buy Amana products. They used to be very good, but we have had nothing but trouble since we purchased 3 years ago. More than $500 later, we still have a refrigerator that does not work. Our next bill will take us close to $1000.00, and this was not a low end machine to begin with. I have friends who have had similar experiences with Amana lately. Do not buy one.

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ice dispenser design does not permit use of medium or smaller glasses without spillage.

Pros:	Adjustable Shelving, Attractive Design
Best Uses:	Big Families
Cons:	Ice dispenser is bad, Left door alarm bad

Buy an extended warranty

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After 1.5 years the refrigerator started getting noisier and noisier. Finally, I broke down and paid $250 to have it repaired. All was good for a little over a year and now the problem is back. Ahhhh, Amana will not acknowledge there is a design or faulty part(damper) problem but they are happy to arrange another $250 service call.

Buy an extended warranty

BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

First, prior to this refrigerator we owned a side by side Amana for 15 years and it was reliable / taken for granted and we expected the same from this model. We have owned this refrigerator for just over three years and this will be our second service call to repair the same problem. The refrigerator started off nice and quiet then started making a clacking sound that worsened over time. We paid $250 to have the damper replaced and the refrigerator was nice and quiet again until about one year later - same problem has returned. Amana customer service will not acknowledge a faulty / defective design so I will need to pay $250 for another repair or live with a noisy refrigerator. Sorry Amana, I would not purchase this model again.

Great fridge for the money

BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Was an attractive fridge for a tight budget. Plenty of room and shelves and bins were very convenient. Only minor problem is that the french doors must be shut left door first and then right door or the doors might not close completely.

Pros:	Attractive Design, Quiet, Adjustable Shelving, Space For Tall Items
Cons:	Door Closure
Best Uses:	Family with small kids
