I've had this for 3 weeks and it works fine - no frills, therefore, little that could break. Really like that it's basic, no bells and whistles that I'll never use - great value - half the price of fancy washers and much shorter cycle time. Clothes seem perfectly clean to me - our parents used this type...did we ever notice our clothes came out dirty?

As there is no need to repeat the positive comments made by the other 5-Star raters (with whom I totally agree), I'll just give a couple other comments/observations.

First, regarding the "noise": When I initially read these complaints (prior to purchase), I instantly thought, "Every washer I've ever owned makes that noise when the contents are very unevenly distributed". So I bought this model (based on the positive reviews); and I am s-o-o-o-o-o glad I did. It is quiter than ANY washer I've ever had - no "noise" - at least for the first 3- 4 days! Then there it was - a very LOUD THUMPING SOUND. This was my opportunity to test my theory. About 30 seconds or so earlier I had lifted the lid during the spin cycle; and apparently dislodged some items from their balanced positions. When I lifted the lid and saw that this was the case, I simply rearranged the items (as with previous machines), closed the lid, and VOILA - problem resolved - back to quiet operation!!! Also, sometimes when tub is not centered, noise can occur - with ANY washer. Second,

I DO wish there was a TRULY HOT WATER option; however, I must admit that my "WHITES" do get really clean. So I guess is not a real issue!

For a basic model, this works as expected for the moment (only a month into it).

We have had other Whirlpool machines and have been very happy. Our expectation is that this machine will get the job done, but we are disappointed in how noisy it is and question its long term life.

Cleans items very well if you can adjust your ears to the sound...sounds like a jet engine taking off. My laundry room is off the kitchen, it is really noisy! Another thing I would mention is the agitator only has one speed, very fast. Not so good for delicate things or nice casual clothing. Would not purchase this washing machine again.

Didn't pay for installation but the delivery people quickly reviewed what I would have to do which meant I didn't have to read instructions.

The machine works just fine if you fill it moderately. I noticed if you fill it with heavy items like towels and jeans I tend to find the items still soaked. I have to remove half the load and do the spin cycle again for 2 minutes. A lot of water emits from the drain hose the second time around even though the full spin cycle occurred.
